Mighty Favog
I might be in the market for 9 fluorescent ballasts. Would very much like to keep them under $12 ea. shipped. T12 - 2 bulb 120V For 4' tubes 40W Used inside. THX!
Moderators dtel Posted December 12, 2018 Moderators Share Posted December 12, 2018 Don't know about 3', I need some 4' because of bad ballast. I have been looking at these but I don't know if they make it in 3'? 4' can be converted to LED for $8.60 per bulb which is a little more than your ballast price, no ballast needed, not needed just wire around it. I will buy LED bulbs instead of another ballast. I would look into it just to compare. just one place https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/204089/IRT-10169.html
Mighty Favog
You're right, mine are 4'. Changed it above... 😎
CECAA850
I just gave away a bunch or 4 and 8 ft working fixtures.
avguytx
I just put in three 8 foot Keystone light fixtures in the new garage which each hold 4 LED bulbs. I believe the three mounts were $30 each and the bulbs $8 each. Instant on in low temps and no loss of radio stations like at my buddy's house. lol. You may be doing something completely different but it was just an experience with what I used.
JL Sargent
What I did: replaced the ballast and fluorescent bulbs with 120v LED bulbs. Got my bulbs on Ebay for about $6 each. No ballast, starting or noise now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/25-Pack-18W-4FT-48inch-LED-T8-Light-Tube-Fluorescent-Replacement-Lamp-Clear/302786781380?hash=item467f7fa0c4:g:BmwAAOSwUXFbNKly:rk:10:pf:

The only difference is the diameter in this situation. A T8 bulb is a smaller diameter than a T12 so it will work. Any ballast will be done away with. pzannucci
Ditch the fluorescent and ballasts. LED and you will likely never have to replace them in your lifetime.
Mighty Favog
I contacted the people at the link above and they said the T8 will fit into a T12 socket as long as it's a G13 type (mine are). This is definitely a good thought.....
avguytx
And if they dont fit well, most local electrical supply stores with have the T8 inserts.
