JM,

I told you not to buy used damaged gangsta Bimmers, and to top this off you purchased a cut and weld! LOL

On a more serious note I take a BMW M5 against ANY sedan made at any price. BMW is the ultimate driving machine. If you are poor Kain and your familly only owns one oil well then at least get the M3. 9.gif

I take BMW all the way. Mercedes does have some nice cars, but BMW had a better reputation. Though if someone gave me the new E55 AMG I would definately take it.9.gif

Still BMW's are my weapon of choice as far as sport sedan and coupes go. No doubt the M5 and M3 are the best around. Even though the previous gen American M3 was tuned down compared to the Euro M3 it was and still is a sweet machine. Not to mention some of the Bimmer's are so cool looking with those oval eyes some of the 5 series have.

That's easy....The M5 just because it is a BMW!!!!!

There is no competition to this vehicle that has 4 doors.

Show me a finer performance sedan and I will insist that my wife let me trade up ;-)

But if money is an issue than the new 745 is a pretty nice performance sedan with all the comfort of a Mercedes but A LOT MORE fun to drive. The 745 has a MS Windows XP operating system in it!!

The reliability on the new 745i is KRAP!!! NOT the car to have. Maybe for next year.

I am not a fan of Chris Bangel (designer of the Z4 and new 7) and I am WAY more concerned about reliability than looks.

The E class Benz is a sweet car. You really cannot "look" at pictures. Once you see (and drive) one, you will realize that the car is special for what is NOT there, rather than what is there (quiet, understated elegance, etc.)

If you live in a Arab country, I would imagine you have seen a few of them driving around 9.gif

Now on a even more serious note

If anyone here was forced to drive one car in the list below to work...

Lada(from the USSR Fiat based),Yugo(from,Yougoslavia!) or the classic Trabant(former EAST Germany)oh there is also a car made in India!I will not even bother listing this ox cart.

What would you take(if you had NO choice, and no you cannot take the bus, metro or walk(also known as BMW)

All priced below $5000 US and the Trabant at $1700!!!Rich and famous only need apply

You guys have to stop reading magazines, which are paid off by manufacturers.

Benz rules, this year the 55 models are measuring over 500 horse at the rear wheels. I've driven the SL55 and to put it in to perception, if it was a home theater it would dust mine.

I may be biased because I sell them, buy if you are in the industry you know what's going on.

Kain,

Despite the fact the Benz has 469HP vs the M5 394HP I would have go with the M5. It is just an all around better more agile and more fun to drive S.S. than the E55 AMG. Though to the Benz's credit it definitely looks much better than the previous generation E55. Though the M5 is a bit dated in styling inside and out it still beats out all other competition IMO.

My order for S.S. to have:

1. Bmw M5

2. Mercedes E55 AMG

3. Audi RS6

Not all the 55 models measure over 500HP.

Every aspect of the automotive industry is biased in some way. Wheter it be car mag's, dealers, auto enthusiasts whatever. It is basically about personal preference.

I have a Honda Accord 2001 and a Audi A4 2002.

I prefer Honda's engineering to the Audi's. The Audi looks cooler inside, red dials and what not, but I get better performance out of my Accord (V6) and it is more comfortable to drive (seats and controls).

I am thinking of upgrading to the 2003 Accord V6 240HP coupe, not sure if I will do it. I got the dealer down to a great price... it is this or continue my audio lifestyle.

My mom has a BMW and a Lexus. The BMW is more fun to drive, but the Lexus is more comfortable and seems to be more reliable and more feature rich. I saw a BMW 725 yesterday (i think that is right...) It was silver and it was a beaut! Wow. People across from me have an M3 they gave their son for his 18th birthday and graduation present. I am so jealous haha.

SJ (Society of Jesus?)----You chant the proper middle-class mantra. Japanese cars are OK but German cars are so overpriced for what you get. I've known many people with LOTS of trouble with Panzer cars and they're as expensive as Hell to fix too. And Audis and VWs are just so much junk.

You see Mexicans driving to work in old American and Japanese cars because they run well and are cheap to fix. Used car dealers want nothing to do with German cars except for specialist dealers. If German cars were so great you'd see old ones all over the place. But I don't see ANY old ones. Do they go from brand new direct to the junkyard?

I'm surprised a Canadian would even consider a German car considering the Canadian prisoners the Germans massacred in Normandy, afterwards Canadians fought the Germans under the Black Flag. Surely thay taught you that in school.

Well you are wanting a Suburu, the true junks of the Japanese auto world. The people I've known with them had lots of problems.

You could support your fellow countrymen put bread on the table by buying a Ford Crown Vic or one of the other cars made in Canada. Obsolete idea that, helping one's countrymen, eh?

Justin,

I would say go with a 2003 Accord V6 Coupe. Just be sure you get the six-speed! Amazing that Honda would put 240hp into a front-wheel drive setup. The styling takes some getting used to, but in all you can't go wrong. I agree Honda's generally have a better feel and reliability than do Audi's and the like. But then again, if you have a Japanese and German car you pretty much are set for life. 9.gif

TB,

Society of Jesus? Where'd you get that from? How do you go from talking about cars to religion, to World War II? You've got some serious issues. The least you could do is stick to the topic at hand.

I did'nt say American cars are bad, I said compared to German and Japanese cars they don't compare. German cars are not bad cars either, yes they could be better and they are getting better.

What suprises you so much about the fact that I would buy a German car? The war is long since over. So you think Canadians as a whole should boycott Germany and all of their products? I guess you also think Americans should boycott Japan and all of their products because of Pearl Harbor? I don't know why you insist on combatting others on this board but you really need to lighten up.

To some extent I agree with TBrennan

If Canadian(American)cars were up to the same standards as the Greman or Japanese cars we would buy mostly local makes. But it is not the case

Look at audio I only have AMERICAN MADE(Sunfire,Krell,ATI) and CANADIAN MADE(Celeste)power amps,I will NOT buy anything else. When Nortah american products are great I will always buy local,GIVE JOBS TO OUT PEOPLE LET THE OTHERS TAKE CARE OF THEIR PEEPS.

I own speakers from the USA(Klipsch),CANADA(Totem),DENMARK(Dynaudio) and the UK(Spendor). What is more, the best drivers are made in Europe like it or not.Dynaudio,Focal,ScanSpeak,Morel,LPG,Eton and a few other European brands make the very best drivers in the world...Sony,TAD(LOL copied and patched JBL)are not even up there.

And dont come up with Hi-Vi Research, they make blatant copies of Dynaudio,Focal drivers.Well at least its obvious they copy.Dynaudio and Focal are leaders(brains) and Hi-Vi copies.

If only the automobile industry could match the High-End in the US in quality and leadership. If only

Looks like superpowers can design and manufacture some awesome weapons but cant make cars!? Look at Russia, top nuclear physicists, some of the very best helicopters and fighter planes...and LADA for car! LOL ?!?! Someting is wrong

sj----Society of Jesus? A little joke, Jebbies sign their names sj.

I don't hold the Japanese as responsible as the Germans; the Germans were supposed to be civilized after the Western manner, they weren't. Sometimes a litle historical memory is a good thing.

Ignore history and it's lessons if you wish, ignore your own countrymen too. Enrich your enemies and impoverish your own countrymen, real smart. And don't think Germany and Japan aren't enemies of Canada and The United States. It's just a new war fought with money instead of blood and will have winner and losers.

Sometimes a car is just a car. Regardless of who makes it. I'm sure many who consider buying German cars go in to dealerships and ponder the social and economic significance of buying the car rather than whether they like the car or if it meets there needs/wants. There are many foreign automakers who's cars are built here in the United States. 70% of Hondas in North America are made in the U.S. and Canada. I too will only buy things made in certain countries simply because they are better quality than other countries. There are many things America builds better than other countries, unfortunately cars are not one of them. True that there are worse places to get cars but American cars quite simply lack the quality and sophistication of the Japanese and Germans
