I cannot find any info about this OLD PD-5VH ( i think this is very old version ) , but I bought in Sealed Box , absolute New ! check photos my PD-5VH Anybody have an info about this old drivers Atlas Sound PD-5VH ? Help ! rgd Alex Quote
DeanG Crossovers Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 That doesn’t look like any PD-5VH I have ever seen. This will strain my memory … I think the B3 network was for the Hepner driver (K-52). On the plastic horn, the part number became K-57-K. The tweeter was the K-77. I believe this is the combo the B3 was designed for. Below is the driver you need. I would go from B3 to B2. https://www.atlasied.com/pd-5vh Quote
impact Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 Hi On the photos my speakers. I remove k55v and established this PD5H...:) Quote
OO1 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 the K-55vV is also environment resistant Quote
OO1 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 , the larger older PD5VH has a transformer for 70V applications Quote
Bubo Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 I glazed over Are we discussing the much sought after original driver that Kilpsch used in the LaScalas heresys etc ? If yes, I wasn't aware that Atlas was selling them. Phenolic or titanium or something else. I have a pair of the originals on my LaScalas Must be 40 years old Do the magnets need to be remagnitized and do the phenolic diaphragms dry out losing flexibility ? Thanks in advance I realize, that the subject of different mid drivers is a bottomless discussion Since Atlas makes PA systems I believe that their driver offers superior speech intelligibility Where Klipsch is IMHO (and most theater owners) the best in the industry Quote
impact Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 I established inside Cornwall , work well ... Anybody know about this OLD Atlas Sound PD-5VH ( on the photo difference with 5VT) Quote
OO1 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 practically the same thing as a PD-5VT , except it's 40-50 years older and the magnet is NOT ceramic Quote
impact Posted September 22, 2023 Author Posted September 22, 2023 I established my Old "atlas sound PD-5VH with egg head cap covers" inside Cornwall , speakers work well ... I am a bit confused . or I need think so : plays and well . P.S. with K-55- ( it seems to me!) the sound was ' flat sound " staging Atlas Sound added stage and space Quote
OO1 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 the K-55V diaphragm is worn out , you need to replace it , with a new one Quote
impact Posted September 25, 2023 Author Posted September 25, 2023 anybody can advise me where can buy diaphragm for Klipsch K-55-v ? Quote

Thanks in advance There was a graph floating around of a new aftermarket mid driver testing better than the Klipsch k55v until it was pointed out that the k55v used in the test was 40+ years old and supposedly (i never seen a new chart) when the diaphragm was replaced in the old driver it tested about as well as the new aftermarket driver did so I guess the short answer is there likely is some degradation to at least the diaphragms. 1 Quote

Bubo Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Appears I have found my next audio project the last 1% Quote
JohnA Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 I think I remember seeing the old dome rear cover in old literature for the -5VH. It will be essentially the same as the current production and should use the same diaphragm, should you ever need one. I'm sure Atlas will sell you all you can carry, too. Quote
