Interesting note.  Mark Chatfield is going back on the road ASAP since Bob Seger retired.  Mark is replacing Bruce Kulick from Grand Funk Railroad.  23 amazing years touring with a group that originated in Flint, MI. and has withstood the test of time for more than 50 years.

Mark and Bruce are long time friends and GFR is doing a "Loco-Motion" tour this year.  23 years for Bruce and Mark's 40 year stint w/Bob?  It's a zero brainer if ya think about it.  Should be a great tour.

The first of 40 tour stops will take place on Friday, January 12th at Ledyard, Connecticut’s Foxwood’s Casino.

I remember Seger hitting Cbus at the old Sugar Shack and Mark was telling me one day he was gonna play lead for him.  I told him to tell Bob that and he did.  Seger told him if he could bring it to let him know.  Funny cause he did it.   40 years with him and when Bob retired Mark went back and has been packing the house w/his old band "The Godz" here in Ohio.  Then the phone rang.  lol

Trust me he can git it and will be a great add to GFR!  Most sites are casino gigs but what better place to kick back and enjoy an evening?

Check me out!  ;)

Laced w/a few Seger hits ya better buckle up.  Great ticket prices and a good time for sure!  :)

Bob Seger was on the airwaves a lot way back then. It was right before Hotel California came out that I recall his music on the most.

And I discovered GFR before that when Locomotion started playing on the AM when I was a kid.

Should be some fun shows with a bunch of unruly curmudgeons in attendance! hahaha

Should be a wild tour for sure.  Mark will kick some butt but stay well within his bounds to keep the GFR sound alive.  They'll prolly throw some Seger in for kicks knowing him.  Either way the ticket price for a nice evening will be sane.  :)

@amped Pretty sure I've got it too.  Know I've got the lp along with the rest of their stuff.  Have the old back pack album and recently picked up a new one when it dropped.  That's a great lp and worth the grab if you see one.

The show should be a fun time for everyone who ever liked them.  50 years is a LONG time!  lol

I saw Grand Funk twice in the 70's.  My favorite band for years.  They're not Grand Funk without Farner.

Especially considering the way they ousted (stole his music) him. Couldn't pay me to see them now.

Yea, everyone steals everyone's music starting out.  Money is money.  Sad but it always happens.

You're a sneaky one @billybob.  Just down the street from ya so know where you'll be.   Seger & Funk were super tight both on and off the stage.  That's why they called Mark.    💪  😂

Not familiar with the story of how Brewer and Schacher fucked Mark Farner?

Not familiar with the story

I've heard bits n pieces of it.  Some good friends of mine cranked out a great song and getting huge local reviews not to mention a great draw.  One Saturday nite two guys showed up from IL.

One guy taped the song on a small Superscope recorder while sitting at the bar next to me.  Then they left.

Vintage Superscope C-106 Cassette Recorder Works Great - Picture 5 of 8

That be the one right there ^^^^^ from 1975.

Those two were brothers and went back to IL with the entire thing.  Yup, the album they put it on hit #1 and it's loved by many to this day.  One great song.  The rest sucked eggs.  Just heard it as background music on a bowl game commercial last week.  They put out two more lp's after that one, then folded.

The guys who wrote & put it together didn't have a nickel between 'em and never got a dime from it.  At that point I was done w/who did this and that.  Let 'em fight it out in court.  I've seen guys w/money jump in w/someone good and watched 'em get drained.  Sorry buddy but this guy's better.  Oh the money?  Well you bought US the lights, etc.

Two sides to everything.  Ya might wanna drop it now cause I don't want the thread locked.  :)

Other things gave me gray hair.  :)
