Cacti
Hi all, I have a Cayin tube amp with one set of stereo output marked 4-8 ohms. This is currently running into my Heresy IVs. I'd like to run an extra set of speakers from the same outputs through a splitter, but have the A/B speakers both always on (with the other set of speakers in another room). I don't know much about the ohm requirements, will I be ok? Thanks
babadono
You should be okay running 2 sets of 8 ohm nominal impedance speakers in parallel on your 4 ohm capable output.
opnly bafld
What do you mean a splitter? A speaker selector switch?

opnly bafld
AFAIK they are all designed to be used that way. Not necessarily the best solution if sound quality is important.

Sound quality is def important, what would be best?

I prefer a system for every pair of speakers/room (2 for me), but not everyone can do that.

KT88
One suggestion is to connect both pairs of speakers when it comes to ambient sound to fill the house. If it is a compromise in sound, only connect the one pair that is consciously needed for beautiful listening at any given time. No matter which of the two. Peter P.
Just buy an impedance matching speaker selector and jam throughout the house without a worry.
Schu
Ambient can be very cool... if it's 'processed' correctly. I enjoy ambient sound distribution... but not more than Stereo or 5.

Both? I paralleled 4 - 6 ohm (nominal) wideband drivers on a 2 watt EL84 set amp, it didn't care.

Also used a solid state amplifier in the same scenario above, but it weren't no garden variety ss.

I didn't run it that way all day with it cranked though. 🫣 Was listening to compare 1 full range/rest bass only vs. all full range paralleled for detectable comb filtering effects.
