colterphoto1
Hang around kiddo! Do you have any idea how many guys here who have tons of money own the RF7's as part of their theatre rigs? TONS! Now go to the Home Theatre chapter and check out the massive 'look at my HT' thread. How many RF7's do you cound? (Mark Maple's setup is a fairly recent one- it's awesome!) Now dry yer little eyes, hook it up, let em break in a couple of weeks, then CRANK IT UP. Get back to us after yer ears stop bleeding LOL Michael
GeorgeV
Stop worrying about the RF-7's. They are one of the best sounding speakers I have ever heard and in their price range they just can't be beat. Forget about whether a speaker is 2-way, 3-way, etc. the only thing that matters is the quality of the drivers and the sound their produce. My brother owns the KLF-30's and he would gladly trade them for my RF-7's, we both prefer the sound of the 7's.
AmpHandle
Thanks all for setting me on how RF-7 are. I now know you are all right with what said. I went to the used hi fi store down town and he had Rotel 1080. I tried to get him to let me trade in my Yamaha and Cerwin Vega D-9 but he said he only deals in higher end stuff, made me kinda feel like my Yamaha wasn't good! He said I do better selling in the newspaper. He had two Rotel's a smaller one, forgots the model#?? and the Rotel 1080, went with 1080 since he say RF-7 needs lots of good amplifier to be best in all levels and would not get deep bass if I didn't. He said he gets in RF-7 once ever so often, said loves them. said he sales very fast that most all Klipsch sell quick for him. He only deals in used goods. He said I made right choice for RF-7 that he likes most for Klipsch for music and HT and he pick the same if were him. Ok, I set it up, runned it for hours like he said to break-in starting yesterday. They are AWESOME!!!!! Huge incredible big sound coming out, i listens to the cone and tweeter and thes tweeter and cones both have female and male voices comin out so I do get some mid range coming out of horns?? sure sounds like it. First started speakers sound kind of slightly harsh like he say but I notice today running all day and night they have much much more smooth, also notice not much bass yesterday. Today I got slam and punch more than Cerwin Vega D-9 but very tight tight very nice bass. Not boomy loose kind like my D-9's are. Awesome to hear it does get the deep awesome bass too. Have to get use to better sound bass buts i like the tigher bass! Tried Yamaha just to see if I made right with Rotel and it lost detail, wide sound, change to bright like steely sound. The smooth warm gone. Guys, you are so RIGHT about amp with RF-7. Rotel give huge improvement with detail, wider sound, smooth sound, and give RF-7 huge huge power for huge huge sound. I think I made right choice. Mid-range is big huge sound. Was worry wort but not now, great smooth mid-range, comes out horn too. Metal instruments sound awesome real, like real, maybe it's the metal in cones and horn to sound true life like? Give huge big live sound very awesome and I feel how can it get any better than this? Can it? I don'ts see how! I feel very satisfied. The Rotel is worth it over my Yamaha and RF-7 is worth it over my Cerwin Vega D-9. I'm very happy with the new music level I'm at now. Thank you - Thank you every ones! All were right here. I'm ok now and not worry any more and happy have them setup now.
KathyMason
AmpHandle, the mid-range is there, just as if it had a mid-range but to get this, I've noticed that you do have to use a high quality amp to achive it, and to get all the best that the RF-7 can give after trying different amps with it. Your Rotel RB-1080 will give you this. I'm using a Rotel RB-1090 and the RF-7's sound wonderful with it, deep tight bass, great smooth highs, wonderful detail in the low, mid, and highs!!! I've been absent here since I've been doing the break-in for the new Klipsch RF-7 speakers and so far, I'm very impressed, amazed, and in total music bliss. I think my Martin Logan's are going to leave me now, I don't even want them anymore after the Klipsch! I plan to tell more after more break-in time but the RF-7's are incredible and amazing. Klipsch sure has a great product!!! with the RF-7!
customsteve01
What I would give to come across a deal like that. AmpHandle your lucky, you came across an awesome score. Enjoy. Steve

Now I thought RF-7 horn was for mid & tweeter? But I found out the bass cones for mid. Why would Klipsch take off mid-range horn? I don't understand why it would be done??? Doesn't make sense. Heck, now it looks like I could have f***ed up! I've been wanting Klipsch horn for long time, I like it big live sound and loud in my face and so wanted that stuff but now it's only horn for tweeter. Heck, i'm so pissed with myself! ---------------- There you have it. You have summed up exactly why you should have bought the KLF 30s. They had everything you wanted....oh well. At least you have tried the RF-7s now. You most likely will miss the two horns of the KLF series but, no matter what, at least you bought Klipsch! I just thought I'd help you deal with your case of buyers remorse. I'm just a real nice guy like that......

kelA
Sounds like Amphandle is, "happier than a fat kid eating cake", with his purchase of his RF-7's. I dont really get the buyers' remorse statement. Enjoy your new 7's. Nice score.
cjgeraci
Nice choice on an amp. When I am not running my RF-7s with tubed monoblocs, they are run by my Rotel 1080. Carl.
Mighty Favog
I too have an RB-1080 but I am using it on a pair of KLF-20's with a Mcintosh C33 preamp (thanks Audio Classics). The amp sounds great when it's above 1/2 watt but below, I felt, it laid down in dynamics and "sound blending" through the whole frequency range. When money permits I plan on getting a McIntosh MC202 or MC252. Its a lot more power than these things need but there are times when great sounding background music is what I'm after. Kathy- an RB-1090 with 7's!!? GEEEZ!! That thing probably isn't getting out of Class A mode before it starts runing people out of the room...
