Jeff Matthews Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 What's a decent used price to expect for a pair of Heresies in very good, but not mint, condition? Assume quick sale price but not a fire sale. Thanks. Quote
Gilbert Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 $250-$300 For Quick Sale $350 - $400 Avg. Going Rate Prices vary based on condition, veneer type, grill cloth type color, risers, age.......etc. Quote
Jeff Matthews Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 Don't know, but they are Heresy I's. I think I got the idea as to pricing. Thanks. Quote
meagain Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I figured you were up to something. You've been oddly quiet the last day or so. Quote
Jeff Matthews Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 Actually, I've been ripping out sheetrock for an entire 23x16 room, ripping down a wall, running new electric, installing some can lights, and installing insulation. Want to join me? The only thing that doesn't suck is the vacuum cleaner. Just kidding. I enjoy it. I might grab some Heresies, though. There's 3 matching pairs. Hmmmmm.... Quote
meagain Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Instant home theatre. What type of wood/color? PM me if there's any leftovers! Quote
sunburnwilly Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I used to have a 5.1 Heresy II HT . It was impressive ... Quote
RichardP Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Last week I calculated an average price based on the past 12-15 Heresy sales on Ebay. Most of those sold were birch, pretty good condition, model I, 70s-80s vintage. The average was $405, and the range was $295 - $525. I did not include in that average one unexplainable ending price of $750(!) and from non-zero bidders. Go figure. There have been a number of sales ending >$500; I hope the price doesn't rise dramatically. Quote
meagain Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Jeff - are they all the same model/color and vintage? If so, that's interesting. And IMO, worth something. So - when are you going to buy them so you can show us the pics? [] Quote
Jeff Matthews Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 I'm waiting on a response from the seller to tell me how much he wants for them. If I get them, fine. If I don't, fine. Either way. That's what I like about not being in a hurry for them. I have so much else going on.... I have a house to destroy! [] Quote
Mike Lindsey Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I'm considering selling mine. They are 76 Birch Lacquer's that have since been restained in a Dark Walnut. There is some chips in the veneer. If I were to keep them I would want to take the stain off and refinish them in a Golden Oak, but I really don't have a clue how to do it. Mike Quote
meagain Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Do Heresys come in 'decorator' style? I really like that look. Quote
Z4! Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Do Heresys come in 'decorator' style? I really like that look. Yes! Quote
Jeff Matthews Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 Decorators are alright. If you like decorators, then, those copper-colored cones ought to really do it for you. Quote
BS Button Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Do Heresys come in 'decorator' style? I really like that look. Here is a pair that I veneered. Colter owns them now. Quote
meagain Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 There ya go! That's what I'm talking about. Very nice! Jeff - the copper colored cones are nice, but the problem is the black around them & various protrusions. Would much rather have the sleek look in a pretty veneer like the above pic. I saw a pretty pair of 'decorator' Cornwalls listed FS somewhere last week that were re-veneered. Stunning. Quote

Mike Mike, I don't know if you realise this, but without adding a layer of oak veneer, the end result would be a Golden Birch. [:S] Oak veneer is available from various sources, some with a finish applied. You can apply it right over the Birch. It wouldn't be that difficult to do, other than some practice with a router. There's plenty of websites with clear instructions and pix, on how to go about it. Quote
