3dzapper
I have to tell Mark, Craig and all the other professional amp builders out there how much I respect them. Assembling amplifiers and pre-amps is boring tedious work. It is their love for sound and adulation that must keep them going. What brings me to this? During my convelescence, while I can't lift anything more than eight pounds or shoot my bow, I have been assembling a pre-amp with components from DIYclub in Hong Kong. If I am lucky, I can work for an hour or two at a time before I go bonkers and must quit stripping little wires to bang my head against a wall or something. Good job guys, keep up the goodwork!!!! Arky
Lisa you are relentless. I'm having a helluva good time following your pursuits. I'm also learning a good bit, at least the parts I understand. JT
3dzapper
Mark, I had my defibrulator box replaced last Monday. The main circuit is cloned from the CAT-SL1 and the PS from the Jadis JP-200. I had to build my own 6 volt regulated circuit for the 6922 Thanks fini. Wickaways from Wally World. No remote at this time.[] Rick
DrWho
way cool, what is it? Best wishes on a speedy recovery - I find it helps to have projects to do that get your mind off the pain....though I'm in your boat regarding the tediousness of wiring stuff up. Maybe redirecting the pain is just as good []

maxg
Not sure it is a good idea to be padding around in socks with all that wires and bits floating around. []
SilverSport
I hear Gold Toe Socks are better than standard ... That IS what the 'sockophiles" say...of course you know THEY like 100% cotton...say it is better than polyester but you have to do all that "tweaking" with cotton...polyester just put 'em on and go... NOSValves
Mark, I had my defibrulator box replaced last Monday. ================ Had it replaced? You mean you didn't go DIY? C'mon - you coulda put a nice tube rig in there! md Best wishes amigo! LMAO [] Rick yep your right the design and tuning is the fun part of building this stuff. I like the what if I try this or what if I take out that. Once its designed building them is tedious! Take it easy I know how sore you have to be after that operation. Glad you seem to be doing well. fini
Mark-- I'm not so sure he didn't build it, looking closely at his statement: "Mark, I had my defibrulator box replaced last Monday. 3dzapper
"C'mon - you coulda put a nice tube rig in there!" Yeah!! But I'd look like a lop sided Dolly Parton.[] Max, No electricity in there yet. It would have been really good the week before last. The water line coming in from the street burst and my pump failed. That carpet was nice and wet!!!

Daddy Dee
Rick, Thanks for your post. Yeh, I've got respect for these folks because building an amp is way beyond my experience and expertise. Your project looks very cool. BTW, the check is in the mail.

Erik Mandaville
"Anyone can do it ask Erik" You managed to learn, didn't you? So did my mom, when she got sick of my dad building all the Heathkit kits, and decided to build a radio for herself. There is a very specific reason why certain populations would be discouraged rather than encouraged. I would rather build confidence and self-esteem, because I have seen some pretty amazing transformations. Building an amp kit or a crossover is peanuts compared to some of those. You're right. Anyone can if they really care about it. Erik

Z4!
I should ask the same question of Erik; how long have you been building amps, Erik? I have been lurking on this forum for quite some time. There are many many folks here who deserve respect; IMHO it just seems that some folks seem to demand respect but aren't willing to give any.
