ibanezhater
I was looking at the Rega Apollo, but that's a bit out of my price range. So, I did some internet investigating, and found four options: Music Hall CD25.2 <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> NAD C542 Arcam DiVA CD73T Rotel RCD 1072 All were highly regarded by various magazines, etc. I will be using RF 83s (hell yeah!) in the future, but now will use KG 2.2s. Amp is still undecided, but solid state, at least 100 watts, 2 channel only. Keep 2 channel stereo alive, brothers and sisters!
skonopa
Another one to consider: Cambridge Audio Azure 640c
Audio Flynn
All of the above are good options. Hard to find places to hear them all.
boomac
I have had one of these for a while and really like it. I was able to preview and compare it to the Rotel and Rega. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1171973526
synthfreek
I was going to suggest you add the Cambridge to your list but Steven beat me to it. I'm going to purchase the 840C VERY soon.
scott0527
I thought all CD players sounded the same? Ok, I have the Music Hall Maverick which is/was their SACD player. I've never really critically listened to it. It certainly hasn't done anything to offend me. Has never NOT played a CD. It's been very reliable and trouble free. Sorry I can't add more about the sound.
ZAKO
Has any body looked at the OPPO 790 for $150. Its getting raves.
joessportster
for that money with a little dillagence you can get a jolida jd 100 used in mint shape, i did and i love it Joe
cjgeraci
What Joe said - tubed CDPs. I've even seen used modded jd 100s in the $700 range. The Ah Tjoeb would be another good choice (see the recent threads on these players) Carl.

skonopa
Another one to consider: Cambridge Audio Azure 640c How much does it retail for in the USA? I haven't checked prices recently, but when I looked a couple years ago, they were going for around $600 plus or minus brand-new. You probably could find a second-hand unit for less (If I recall correctly, some folks on this very forum managed to score them for around $300 used). It is definitely within your $700 budget, though.
barrynsue
I have had one of these for a while and really like it. I was able to preview and compare it to the Rotel and Rega. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1171973526 I also use this particular Tube CD Player and upgrade with some nice 6DJ8's or even better Amperex 7308 Gold Pin tubes and it will be hard to beat for the price. It sounds great and you will have a whole new outlook on the sound of CD's. There are some great reviews on The MiniMax so just to an internet search if more info is needed. Not affiliated with seller on the above linked item.
vman71
I would also add the Audio Refinement Complete Alpha. There is one on Audiogon right now for $440.
