  1. congrats what did you buy? he bought the new flagship sb-18 ultra!! LOL or the sb-13 ultra. one of the two Ha ha, an 18 would be one heavy beast of a sub.
  2. I went and bought some quartets from a guy and he had a big Sansui amp with large meters on the front of it hooked to a set of khorns and it sounded really nice. It had the hanging light in the room swinging side to side, lol.
  3. What a great buy, I really love mine. Enjoy it Toolz!
  4. Wow those look awesome Schu, I'm jealous! I've been using some ALK Cornscala Walls in mine but those have got me thinking, lol. I was thrilled with the ones Dean built for my La Scalas, what a huge improvement, so I'm wondering if I would see much of a difference with a set of those over my ALK's in my Cornwalls. This hobby is so fun but costly.
  5. I bought my first tube amp for 75 bucks, a Scott 299. After I had Craig @ NOS Valves rebuild it, I think it sounds fantastic. I know it's not high-end by any means but it sounds darned good to me and wasn't really expensive, plus it drives my Cornwalls very well.
  6. I'm certainly not in any hurry. I'd just like to find out if any of the aftermarket crossovers will be noticeable to my ears in my application and if I can do that without spending $500-1000 up front.. awesome. Even Al's $300ish Cornscala-walls would suffice as a test. I'm really happy with these stock B-2 networks, so just curious what sort of improvement is even possible. I bought a set of Al's Cornscala-walls and they made a huge difference, I really love them!
  7. I agree, they sound very very nice with tubes! I went from a Bryston 4b with a ton of power to a Scott 299 with only 17 per channel and the Scott wins big time, at least to my ears.
  8. The last ones that I heard in a store were in 95 at Harvey's Stereo in Springfield MO.
  9. That's one poor packing job for sure, i would be mad about that and also that the amp doesn't work. Ha ha Carl, I don't know much but I can box the crap out of audio gear. I bought a Technics SL 1200 off of ebay and it said mint and and in original box, when it arrived it was in the original box....without any padding of any type, just loose in there. Some people should never sell anything that has to be shipped!
  10. That's to bad, we went to one of his shows about a year ago and he still sounded great. RIP
  11. That's just great. Not sure if it's true or not, but I saw the other day that China had banned shellfish from the US west coast. Their food must be safer than ours??
  12. glad to hear you are still enjoying that baby rusty. Hope you hang out to that badboy the long haul. I miss them big cherry boxes in my living room. Hopefully I can learn to veneer soon. Then I can get my new project looking pretty If I had 4 18's I doubt I would worry about the veneers, lol. I'm hanging on to it until it doesn't work anymore, I really love it! For me it was the perfect fit, I'm not a real bass head but it fills in the bottom end just like I like it. It's strong and blends in so well in my setup, and it looks so darned nice....I smile every time I look at it, lol.
  13. I bought one of Scrappydue's SVS PB 13 Ultra's and it blends very very well with my La Scalas, it totally smoked the Sunfire that I had. I don't think two sunfires like I had could come close to matching it's output. I've had several friends over that couldn't tell that there was a sub being used, I can't even pinpoint it's location in the room with my eyes shut. It may be no match for a horn loaded sub but it's strong and very enjoyable and I didn't have to do anything but go pick it up and plug it in.
  14. All right now... What the heck else can we do for you.... (You had to know this was coming at some time.... lol....) That looks more like backwoods Kentucky!! To be fair, it also looks like it came from the Ovilla area..... Ha ha, those people lived just 3 miles from where I live, seriously. That was out of the Hillbilly calender that they used to print when I was a kid in the 70's, pretty cool to see it again!
  15. I'm all for have a sub section on the forum. I don't have a ht set up but I do like subs. I had a thread in the old section and it led to me finding a good sub and also I got a ton of great advice, thanks guys!
