  1. Have any of you guys in cattle country heard anything about this? It certainly would not be surprising if it is really true: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/04/01/raw-meat-sales.aspx?e_cid=20140401Z1_DNL_art_1&utm_source=dnl&utm_medium=email&utm_content=art1&utm_campaign=20140401Z1&et_cid=DM43653&et_rid=472886920 Maynard Just noticed at the bottom of the article that it says, "happy April Fool's day." I don't know if that is just a general statement or if Mercola has developed a sense of humor!

  2. Recently I was surfing the forums and I saw mention of a Nelson Pass design, First Watt amplifier. Naturally I opened my big amateur advise giving mouth and said. "I have always wanted to build one of those" Almost instantly I received a PM from duder1982 that said "I have a set of the Pass F5 boards I am not going to use. I will give them to you if you start a thread about your build." I replied "yeah, sure, cool, awesome...." So here I am fulfilling my obligation, what a fun journey. Thanks duder, I love it. For the chassis I stepped up and purchased the premium pre drilled chassis from DIY Audio. In the mean time I stuffed the board with the available parts I had on hand, and ordered the JFets. The power supply I ordered from Antec, what a beast. The capacitor board I ordered from EBay. The engraving of the face plate I did in house, quite the learning experience, and what a mess. Dave

  4. It was hard to believe anybody wouldnt had noticed the farmhouse thread...nobody xept maybe 50 people crawl through this part of the forum in a weeks time. Its actually maybe getting a bit more traffic not much more though im noticing as a forum member after the great new renovations(in the forum). I dont believe eth2 was calling any lie. I even pm'd him and said i wondered the same as he was. Amy you are awsome. This place wouldnt be half it is now if it were not for you caring enough to take your time to provide us with this wonderful place. I know for myself i frequent different areas of this forum for days then not and to another section for months and back then and so on to something else and so on. We need a PWKLIPSCH pilgram migration. I wish amy was there so i could see one of these absolutely off the chain klipsch stadiums. That things worth as much as a new h3. That may be all we need at a gathering is one of those. I seriously appreciate everything that goes into this place> Klipsch is truly a legend in sound. It must live long with Pauls spirit leading the way. Blessings to all. Please have a great sunny day! Its even warming up now in northern indiana, or at least i had to turn the heat down inside.

  6. Ever since ssh conceived this gathering I engulfed myself in attending. As i explained i was unable to be there. If there were 2 people at a klipsch event I would still demand myself attending if invited. Looks as though klipsch corporation would be involved if they were in contact with followers of the event. I may be too enveloped in my drive and emotional attachment with klipsch considering the lows i have been through getting ripped off buying nib thousands of dollars only to be depressed by the performance of other brands/models. Knowing now the klipsch factory is off limits results in me a variety of unusual thoughts. I have spent thousands on nib klipsch as well although many of us buy klipsch used and modify as we prefer. I cannot remember the previous gathering rsvp although have not been involved with klipsch and the forum only in the past 4 years, about 2 of them being a member. Anyhow today with the way many individuals live they have not time let alone the fact they are internet only participants to the glory of the PWKlipsch movement. With texts and internet and countless other negative contributes to such great events the pilgrimage of the days i have only heard of are apparently behind us. It is most unfortunate if this is true. It tames the klipsch fire i have inside of me. I presume to this point the gathering in this day in time appears to be on a screen right in front of us every time we log on. Praying its an illusion. The enjoyment is still able to be had. I pray nest time i can be there. Bless you all and thank you for sharing. Lets keep trying. We need more events! Please

  7. Guys: this is an ad in the Garage Sale section - let's skip the off-topic stuff so the OP can do his sale. If you do not like the price, then it is simple ... don't buy it.

  8. Not the whole thing, but just one channel. Got a friend with a basement setup consisting of one '59 Khorn and two other non-nondescript speakers he uses for god knows what. Upstairs he's got Fortes, but he's running them through a separate amp. A fellow Klipscher indeed. A few months ago his 70's era ss receiver bit the dust, so I offered him an older Onkyo AV receiver a customer had given me. Problem is, no mono switch for the Khorn, which, not surprisingly, is the way he really likes to listen to it. So I'm wondering if I wired the two sides of the "B Channel" together would I be producing a true mono signal. It would probably be dropping down from 8 to 4ohms but I hardly think that matters for his occasional listening. So what say yee?

  10. How smart is your brother? I would guess plenty (seriously) if he hasn't been lured by general society into that crap. I held out for years until the prices fell. They are pretty nifty but... well... I think much of them depend on how you set them up to protect you from drawing against your plan when you don't intend to. I have an android/ Razor max which I am about to replace. The most amazing thing is how the camera has replace the point and shoot camera.

  11. Ditto Boxx, Steve invited me early on for this gathering unfortunately I could not make it for my sons soccer tournament in the opposite direction! It chides me that anyone can come into these threads especially a newbie who (had he done his homework) and read past pilgrimage threads would have known Amy and Trey have gone to the limits to show forum members a great time in Hope and Indy as well. This was from the get go solely a forum members gathering which Steve (SSH) put together after securing the farmhouse. One should read and educate oneself proir to spouting off at the hip in the future, had Amy been brought into this early on and kept in the loop I'm sure some sort of tour would have been approved and I look forward to the next gathering official or un in Hope. I can see everyone had a great time and that is really what this community is all about. Wished I could have been there:-(

Anyhow great thread. Thanks for making sense to my twisted dreams. Its really been rough. I was afraid to ask

  14. Then we're in good hands. In the future,if no one else does, I'll make it my responsibility to let you know. If you're unaware next time, the blame will rest solely on my shoulders. Now get back to vacation!

  19. I also blame carl for my DAC and Anthem Pre amp purchase, id say about all my speakers id blame Youth for and projector id blame Reference Head for. Derrick helped me through many decisins on my subs plavement and my old pio elite reciever purchase I only take credit in purchasing my Anthem Amps. Scarppy has helped me as well in many occasions. Reading through his threads I decided to build my in wall rack and if I do 18” DIY it’s because of his 4 beauties :/ Lol. These forums cost a lot of money. It's one thing to have an idea and dream. But then you come on here and someone will teach you how to make that idea work. And then it's as easy as buying what you need.

  20. Huge fan of brd. Like any thing it has it's good and bad. But when it's good it's an unmatched audio and video experience. No record, cd, sacd, or DVD audio can match its power. Imo of course

  21. I love el34's. I have a collection including copper based models. Its purely subjective to what el34 will work best for 1 your amp, 2 your preference in sound. In my trials and not as long as some although for the few years in tube gear even some of the cheapest chinese tubes provide music nirvana. Considering imo with the range of 34's i have burnt in and tested i would try some that are cheap and new on ebay. I have some gold lions that most of my local friends consider to be choice. My current power 34s are a chinese model that are best to my liking to this point in time. They were $94 shipped directly from an online chinese shop. I will say as good as my choice chinese power glass is i do not know how long they will last but for under $100 i have another quad bought that are ready to burn in once the currents being used drop. I wouldnt bother the smaller pre tubes unless they seem to have too much noise. My current tube setup is 100% quiet when music is on pause. With the pre tubes the number 1 tube in the series is the most important to identify noise. If you hear noise to identify if its from your pre pull the number 1 pre tube and if your setup goes quiet then you should replace them. edit:I find it to be a fact that vintage amps respond to nos tubes better than new stock or re issues. As well as with modern tube amps respond best with new up to date tubes or current re productions. Some may find their preference otherwise. The best vacuum tube for anything and anyone is purely subjective. Just have fun and enjoy burning tubes in and auditioning any or all at your leisure. Just keep an eye on bias depending on what type of arrangement you may try. Dont stress just be careful. I have burnt in and tested many with a certain amp i use and its bias stands so firm i check it at about heck sometimes every 200hours of use. edit again:Ebay will yield great results with tubes. Also parts express is a very nice place to find many variations of the el34/el34b

  23. It's easier on the eyes because it's right. Okay, let's try it again. One picture is the bridged circuit and the other is the JBL method. The larger meter is showing the capacitance. I have two .10uF capacitors connected in series. The capacitors are charged, and capacitance is stable.

  29. Ask and ye shall receive. Here I be. Great time, and thanks for making me feel so welcome even though I wasn't a member of the forum and not really all that educated on stereo equipment. pmsummer invited me to tag along, and as I had vacation days to burn and love a good road trip, how could I refuse? It was my honor to join you gentlemen (and Ron).

  30. I think we should keep opinions about pricing and what we think should be fair to PMs, so that we don't discourage other interested parties from making a purchase. We might get a ridiculous price for selling something, but just maybe someone is looking for that exact item, and is willing to pay a little more to make sure they get it. Let's keep our public posts in the encouraging realm, especially if we are not serious buyers. I love audio equipment and I like to pay a good price, but I would be pretty upset if someone publicly discounted my asking prices.

  31. By the front looks like in decent condition and priced about what have seen before. If drivers are in decent condition may be worth it to find out. There are parts available on the net. Used mostly. They have used paper cone speakers that can deteriorate with time. Sortof a judgment call on your part until someone can better guess as to how close a match. if at all.

Iv been thinking I know this storage lot owner in Rancho a few miles down the road, maybe I could rent a small storage unit and stick a small heater in it for a few weeks, got to dry these things out and kill the mold. when we got home I could still smell the oder of these things. had to change my clothes and dam, I still smell it.

  41. When I was digging the stuff piled on top of them, off, I started to smell the moldy wet smell, looking at the back of these there was one tag totally eatin up paper, The only thing I could read was "Fra" so I came home and did a search on "FRA speaker" and Frazier came up with this exact picture. The little wire stands are there but stuffed into the horns, again this is not a picture I took, they just look like this.
