Monday morning at work after 4 days off. Ugh. Ran out of Kona yesterday to boot and back on domestic beans. No where to go but up.6 points

Funny you should mention that, after this cup, im going for a Nap6 points

It certainly works but it certainly sounds better with a DAC at least to me. All you do is go out from your computer to the DAC and from the DAC to your pre-amp.5 points

As they say in the dialect of extreme northern Germany, "Moin, Moin!" On the third cup of some hazelnut stuff. Excited for you, Earl! Safe travels! Can't hardly wait for pics and to hear if you get the pre too. Joe, do you do in home breakfast prep? I mean come over to my house and make that same breakfast! Hoping everyone has a great start to Monday. Billy5 points

Monday, Monday around Denver metro means more snow, at least this week. No real complaints, though, since it fills our reservoirs which supply our water. Thank God and the auto mfg'ers for 4WD. Not much happening today ... 2 appointments canceled due to weather ... and I'm good with that. Baxter is sacked out on the sofa and pretty much looks like Jake, except for his indoor location. It's time for some creative goofing off! Check back in a while.......4 points

Hi All, I know this is a bad time to sell, but I thought I would put it on the Forum for a while before going to Audiogon or CL. I think I know what I want for my "final" system now, so I will try and pass the other items along. I have purchased all of these in the past year. Harmon Kardon FL8380 6 disc CD player (does not have a remote) - $175/shipping LaScalas (Raw Birch) - $1,200 Cornwalls (very nice condition)- $900 Parasound (w/remote) 2100 Preamp (a few scratches on top panel) - $350 Frazier Manhattans (some chipping to veneer in one corner - sound great) - $350 This is all in Ithaca, NY or Rochester, NY. I will send pictures if anyone is interested. Also, if you want anything and can't pay or pickup for a few months, that is fine. Earl3 points

Your almost there Earl. you are honing in on what you like by doing, Buying & Trying, been there done that just this year3 points

Yes, it does, and thereby, getting rid of cheap soundcard noise.3 points

Hey chuck, before i bought my DAC unit, i went to fry's and bought a little "Dragon Fly" type device just to try it out. It worked well enough to get me shopping for my current DAC. I still have it in the package here somewhere, if you want to play with it, you can have it NO charge, PM me your address if you want it.3 points

I think using a usb cord bypasses the sound card. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?3 points

I don't know how to hook you up, but the Amish stuff can bed bought directly from the Amish, and I think they can make stuff to spec.3 points

I took these pictures July 2014 of Earl's Marantz 1250: This amp was pristine, like new old stock. The sound is crystal clear, especially articulate in the midrange. +++ Are you sure about that $550 price, Earl? I found two completed listings on Ebay in the last month for $710 and $818!2 points

Wow; that's quite an accomplishment! Good luck with your sale. If only that was all I had bought. This is what i did back in may/april this year. now have only what i need, so does the wife. Tried everything, gave it a fair listen, then sold, all but one for the same price i bought it for.2 points

Ah, just checked and Crutchfield has a deal on that unit right now. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_063UDH01S/TEAC-UD-H01-Silver.html?tp=593092 points

Yes, it does, and thereby, getting rid of cheap soundcard noise. Agreed. I like to think about it this way in that your computer will recognize the external DAC device as another soundcard to select (in some ways not much different from selecting printers, hard drives, etc.). I have found that the drivers for the DAC will typically make the external DAC the default path automatically when connected; however, I've had a couple of strange situations where drivers wouldn't load correctly with certain USB cables.2 points

Tarheel, this UD-H01 Teac would be a huge upgrade between your PC and the Blueberry. There is also a version with a built in 50w amp which is what I use. I can really hear a difference between my PCs sound card and a good DAC.2 points

I hate to clog up the Forum with pictures of everything. If you have anything you are interested in, let me know.2 points

billybob.....Spotify sounds better than Pandora but a little thin and lacking some dynamics. I know nothing about sound cards so I have no idea if its good or not. Really didn't want to have to purchase another piece of equipment2 points

What are you using as a DAC or have I overlooked it? No DAC Carl. Just straight from lap top to the Blueberry. Is that a problem? Don't know much about this so tell me if I have it wrong.2 points

I'm bowing out. Everyone on here has have their opinion on the kl-650 being the better center for movies. And the other being better if your gonna do music. You choose what is important to you. If you already got rf-7ii then just get a 64ii and be happy. It's a awesome center as long as you never hear better. But then at the same time you have heard it before and didn't like it. So take your own advice and just get the thx ultra stuff.2 points

Interesting...I guess there is a finite amount of anything, I could understand the concept of a finite amount of "knowledge", but having a hard time with finite intelligence, after all even when we get to the point where we know all there is to know, will we know it, and just stop looking?....I think we will have managed to kill ourselves off before then, but the thought is interesting to me... the only way we could know that we’ve learnt everything is to have already known everything. Exactly my point....I think!! maybe i already knew what you meant2 points

I dislike most of the movies mentioned (or would if I had actually watched any of them). Just watching the previews makes me feel like my I.Q. has dropped a few points. As a nation, we seem to be getting dumber and dumber. Reminds me of the story that there is a finite amount of intelligence in the universe, and the population is constantly expanding. I just don't get what's funny about them, and I really do like good humor.2 points

Yes indeed, terrible that a brutal dictator, who starves, imprisons and forces his subjects to worship him, should be made a mockery of by a rag-tag bunch of liberty loving Americans....Shameful, what were they thinking?2 points

I am seriously not trying to pull your chain on this. The "science" of how we process and perceive things is so crude as to be barely science. I am just trying to get you to understand that, as well as the limitations of our abilities to have any real idea what another perceives. As a young man I could hear out well into the 20s range. I could hear "ultrasonic" alarms that no one else did. I heard many things only one in 10,000 ever hears. I was told I wasn't really hearing anything. Luckily, I had the good sense not to accept someone else's judgment on that and think I was hearing things. I WAS hearing things, and the Army eventually tested me and found that to be the case. They never found out how far as their audiometric device only went to 22k and I was still flat. Of course, that is LONG gone, but I've never again made the mistake of thinking I know what another hears. Dave1 point

I would never say no to a 8.5 lbs. large mouth bass.... Bass fishing is good in Texas.... You should give it a try someday.... It is on my bucketlist of places to go and fish. Our average bass here is 1.5 lbs and our record is 10.14. Your average is almost as large as our record and most people think the next record will come from Texas as they have a spawning program where they are cross breeding bass from Florida and Texas. When we get a 4+ lb fish, it's a good day fishing. I have a friend who lives down there, just need to get the time to get down there. What really makes it good down here is the fellowship that develops between fishermen..... It's mixed up here. I've been fishing for 8 years now, and the guy who got me into it was a tournament fisher, so he wasn't the most friendly when it came to speaking to other fishermen. I've met people who will let you right in with them on their spot if they are fishing in one spot also. I have no issues myself giving out information and tricks when it comes to fishing, and have also given equipment to kids when they are out at a lake with a parent who may not know what they are doing. I have become a big student with fishing and try to learn why fish behave the way they do and about their feeding habits. I've also gotten into fly fishing and tying my own flies. Here's a few of my catches and one with my youngest son from 2 years ago. I now have to learn more with my new hobby here with audio. Outstanding.... We can talk later on another thread about our hobby....1 point
