  1. Mornin' all. Agree on play it safe. Even before I removed booze from my diet (had to) I stayed in on amateur night. Will leave that to the younger folks and our friends on our friendly local police force. Be well and out of harm's way everyone. We will hit a small dinner gathering tonight and be in early.

  2. Friend wanted to know if he should get a bushel of oysters for my sake. I answered...no thanks. Maybe he will just get a half. Got to be in the mood and unlike him, I am not this time... In the mood for a cup though... He is a fanatic, and a gator fan so, we may be watching the Oregon Ducks looking to somehow whip the peadumplins out of the Seminoles...I say fat chance...lololol

  6. hey, i don’t make the rules: we don’t need no education…we don’t need no thought control…no dark sarcasm in the classroom…teacher leaves them kids alone.

  7. Privileged? This is the first pair of shoes i’ve ever owned…we used to have to walk barefoot 5 miles to school, up hill BOTH WAYS, over hot coals and broken glass, just to have the principal stomp on our toes with army boots if we answered a question incorrectly.

  8. Woke up at 4 AM with a dachshund/chihuahua mix sitting on my face licking me--one of Mom's two twin dogs. Had some Krispy Kreme ground stuff for Joe. First time. Pretty good. Was up, so I decided to bake some banana bread. Made mom a loaf with black walnuts and Splenda to keep her sugar down. Made me and the wife a loaf with pecanns, Ghiradelli 60% chocolate chips, and a mix of white and brown sugar. Oh, then made some fudge with pecans from the same monster bag of Ghiradelli chips. Having made spaghetti from last night, no cooking until tomorrow morning: corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and black-eyed peas on the side. My singer/songwriter daughter is coming over tomorrow with her piano, mic, computer, etc. going to hook her up to the K-horns through the old Pioneer SX-9000 (which has PA capabilities) and turn her loose . . . and I do not even have to pay to listen to her concer in the house! Hope you all have a great New Year start and many blessings to come!

  9. that’s why you have to be proactive … last year i showed my granddaughter (7 at the time) the Men Without Hats video for their song Safety Dance. She still remembers that and whenever I see her we do those hand gestures from that video. try it … it works.

  12. $97.50 to have the lap top scrubbed up and a free antivirus installed but I'm back. LF is coming over and we are going to a fundraiser dinner and dance for the Shrine club. Prime rib on the menu. May sneak one for Jake. Its cold for these old southern bones. If I wasn't such a fun guy I would stay home....safe and warm. Have a small bottle of Jack black to take and a lady driver to get me home. Getting ready for a cup to help me make it till midnight. Cheers Gents......and be safe. Talk again next year.

  15. I am 46 and proud to say that this was my 2014 resolution which I succeeded at. I was athletic in HS, and I am about as fit as I was back in my late teens. It took a while. I am 5' 10". When I started in January 2014, I was around 205-210 pounds and looked like I was in my 3rd trimester. First, walking an hour+ per day for a few months. Backing off of breads/cheeses and creams and giving more favor to fruits and vegetables. Target diet was roughly 1,500 calories per day. The high fiber content of fruits and veggies allows you to stuff your gut without too many calories. If you fall off the wagon a few days, you don't punish yourself or feel disappointed. You accept it as a short "break" and get back on the wagon. Then, some jogging. Then, torn muscles that had to heal (getting old made getting athletic a bit precarious). Also, calisthenics on a somewhat regular schedule off-and-on. Finally, 175 pounds, descent muscle and the beginnings of a 6-pack. My diet is not as strict as when I was losing weight. I eat pretty much what I want, including ice cream and cereal. Among my age group, I now often find myself to be "the most 'fit' person in the room." Good luck to you! It can be done.

  26. For all you 2015 dieters, the key is "calories in/calories out." There are no short cuts. You can eat all the fruits and veggies you want. Look at the pic below of chicken stir-fry. Sans a bed of rice, a very hefty plate of it is about 550 calories. That's pretty good considering the mass of volume you get. A plate that big is hard to finish. I did a fair amount of that, varying it up with all kinds of mixes. Fruits and veggies are a key to making the success easier. The entire pan as shown in the picture is probably 650 calories.

  29. My audio ambitions were to own MTX speakers like my brother up until I was about 10. Never crossed my mind that there might be something behind the fact they were 12" woofers, but even I could lift the boxes. lol I'd say right now, my hopes are to get a pair of La Scalla II's or Epic CF-4's after graduation. I was going to be a meteorologist. Of course the older I am now, I realize I wouldn't be able to take all the flack. Those guys get seriously ripped on during the winter. Totally brutal! I always wanted to be a gynecologist but alas it never happened. Too much school. I still dabble as an amateur from time to time however. Good thing you didn't say proctologist ! Nothing worse than going to see one and feeling 2 hands on your shoulders.

  33. In case you haven't hear that term, it's more of a local term used in this area for people who will argue their point to no end until they beat your ears into submission to agree with them or you walk away in disgust. It's sorta like a term of endearment. A pigheaded stubborn person who doesn't waver from their opinion whether right or wrong, in a good way. As I was a Philadelphia lawyer (for real), I take exception to your characterization. Further, I will not change my view as to your inaccurate, nonsensical, belligerent, ill-advised, incoherent, foolhardy, baseless, insulting, meritless, libelous, tactless, moronic, cutting, self-serving, attempt to be whimsical. So's your motha!

  40. Mornin' all. Running slow. Sorry I missed all the talk about PF Flyers, decisive indecision over DACs and Tarheel's dilemma. Wish I could help, but my mom made we wear Keds, so I'm probably not qualified. Oh well. ( I did get Converse in Jr. High!) We have one awful cold spell out here. The 'high' today will be in single digits. The only solution is to stay in and play some rock 'n roll on the B. Be well and stay warm.

  42. I went to school in Baltimore City and the three shoes you could wear were: Jack Purcells, Converse and the PF flyers. Man those kids were brutal if you wore some Keds or some phony Jacks. I wore the Jacks and I still have a few pair they are hard to find. I have a pair of Pink Floyd Jack Purcells, I found them about six years ago.....I had to get-em lol lol :-) I'll try to get a pic......if ya want to see them.....
