  1. Yeah, I have done some checking with my meter, even when you have the volume high, it rarely hits those worry points, and of course some action scenes will have some peaks. On the flip side, I saw blue man in vegas last week and they hit around 105db during some of their musical stuff upgrade=done

  9. Good Humpday morning my friends............ First storms of the season passed through last evening...........lucky, not bad, mostly cloud to cloud lighting/thunder, our first substantial rainfall in a long time too! New outdoor speakers got wet, but they are made for that and the receiver in the grill cabinet totally safe from the weather, I'm confident this system will last a long time out there in the elements... Mark, I am a bit confused about the EAW topic... When you say 'here', did you mean USA? The factory is clearly in Whitensville, MA. and we drive right by it when doing organ service work in that area. However, as you mentioned, I cannot find an 'Italian' element anywhere on the web connected with EAW. The only thing was that Mackie took over RCL which seems to be an Italian made speaker line... Mackie, along with Ampeg, EAW and others are part of the 'Loud Technologies' GROUP. All I could find. If you get a moment, read through the EAW 'about' page and the company history - heritage - mission tells a nice story. The majority of manufacturing is in the mill buildings here in MA. All I know for now... Enjoy your day everyone ............Gary

  14. Over the past six months I've been slowly upgrading my home home theatre. Initially, it was a Sony HT in a box, it worked and sounded pretty good, for what it is. I've been dying to go all Klipsch with an Onkyo or Denon AVR. Thanks to friends and an awesome brother in law, I have a Denon AVR-890, Polk RT-1000P fronts, Polk PSW-10 Sub, JBL J-2060 Surrounds and a Polk CS-10 Center. The only thing paid for is the center, brand new for $96. Not bad for under a hundred bucks, damn near free for the most part. I really, really want all Klipsch, but every time I have some money, something more pressing comes up. This leads me to a very important lesson I learned very early in life, when I was about nine years old. Use what you have to the best of its capabilities and just enjoy it. It is certainly better than nothing. As a young guitar player, I had a "crappy" Harmony Rocket Electric guitar, Ross Distortion pedal and Sears Silvertone 1484 tube amplifier. All of my friends had good gear, but I always had great tone, was a fast learner and just flat out rocked. Most of them, well, not so much. The secret was to just use what I had, dial it in based on the strengths of each piece and stop chasing what I just simply could not afford. I applied this lesson to my current HT gear and have finally come to the point where I'm not chasing the last 5% of great sound. I've spent a bunch of time learning about each piece of gear, trying numerous settings, but mostly listening and dialing things in to sound as good as possible, in my room, to my ears. I feel that I have succeeded and love the sound. In my seating position I am completely immersed in the sound, whether concert, movie or audio. I'd be surprised, if not for that lesson I learned so early on in my life, but to me, it is pure truth. Too many times, we get wrapped up in specs, looks, wants and chasing our own tail, rather than using what we have, and most importantly, listening and enjoying. There is so much gear available today, at reasonable prices, that it's hard NOT to put together a good sounding rig, for not so much money, especially if you go to the used market and avoid impulse buying. I've listened to systems at friends homes, that cost a small fortune, and most of them don't sound nearly as good as my lowly, damn near free system. A few of the guys have come over and heard my system and couldn't believe their ears. I told them "the secret" and they asked me to go over and tune their systems. I said sure, but it would be tuned to my ears, not theirs, and that they really need to put the time into learning their gear in order to get the best sound for them, but would be happy to help them with it. An audiophile friend gave me the greatest compliment that I could ever hope for, "It doesn't suck." Lol. Eventually, I will have all Klipsch for my main HT. I truly feel that it is the best gear for reproducing sound, that I could possibly afford someday. I have Heresy's for my 2 channel rig, so I am not Klipschless, but for now, I'm just enjoying what I have and listening. Sorry for the long post, but I hope that my situation might help someone else in a similar position.

  15. Been payment free till a couple years ago. I took out a 15 year home equity loan that I should have paid off in 6. One car just has a little bit left to pay on it but Momma's getting a new one in August so there'll be that note for 4 years. I'd like to jump off the treadmill in 5 years or so.

  20. Afternoon all. Didn't post this morning. Pretty decent but slow day. Had to get my crummy back worked on by a brutal message therapist but it will help. duder ... sorry about your well situation. Hope it turns out ok. Bummer. Mark, same for your ebay deal. Another day of 'weather'. Major attitude adjustment will be in order if this keeps up. A couple of doo-*** tunes should help so will fire up the instrument. Cheers, dammit.

  22. Yes I prefer concrete as well, I wouldn't use this for fence post but to run my well pipe sure why not. There are advantages and disadvantages to using power tools to run a sand point. Time and energy are a couple, Some times you end up damaging your couplers when you use power tools. I might just try the fence post driver that Dtel posted as I have seen some use them before. So far I am 8' down, and may only have to go another 5-10 feet. There is another method using a 1/2" drill and a water attachment. The water acts as a boring aid when sprayed down the middle. More tools I don't have and don't feel the need to purchase.

  40. Well I was setting here earlier reading drinking coffee and the daughter walks in with boiled crawfish, so it was crawfish with boiled sausage for breakfast, then a banana. Now it's more coffee while I wait for the wife to get back with a part for the pump up sprayer, the tip broke off when I went to spray some weeds. Summer is coming, thermometer says it's 85 right now.

  41. That's closer to how they drill wells here, it's a drill tip but it also pumps a little water down the pipe at the same time. What is you could find a cap, like the one your hitting but with a 1/2" threaded hole to put something to connect a hose, let the water washout the bottom of the hole. Problem is you would have no where to hit it down. No but how about the same idea but with a nipple and come in from the side. The only bad part about this, is the whole reason I am running a well is no water[emoji16]

Not everybody knows what I do for living, but I can tell you, the "family concept" in some rural families is not always a good thing! +++ And of course I'm giving you (dtel's wife) a hard time because I like you. I know what you meant, and your heart is pure. Ok I'll bite, what do you do for living? Geneticist? Surgeon with a specialized practice is seperating conjoined twins? Wedding Chapel owner? The guy who researchs family trees (genealogist) and has to break the news that theirs doesn't branch? Law enforcement, bAtf?, Treasury Agent? Marriage and Family Therapist? Divorce lawyer? Travis
