  1. Colorado rack of lamb is my favorite food. It's also my last name.
  2. Yup, a couple years back I had to return one of my RF7's the next day because I realized one of the dustcaps was poked in. Brought it back to the Good Guys and they swapped it out immediately. It's too bad Good Guys sucks a fat one now...
  3. We're all probably gonna watch it, just because it's another superhero summer action blockbuster, but how much do you guys wanna bet it's complete and utter garbage? I got 20 on it.

Yes, and an amazing narrative structure as well. Fans of Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Psycho, Finding Forrester, etc.) will love this piece. He seems to have a true understanding of adolescent boys. No pun intended, him being gay and all... For those not into indie flicks, avoid this movie at all costs. It's probably one of the slowest, most arduous-to-watch films you'll ever come across. But that's also the beauty of it. Van Sant forces us to watch and discover the beauty of everyday events and tasks that we'd otherwise dismiss as tedious. It really forces us to "stop and smell the flowers," so to speak, or to enjoy the quiet before the storm. And the storm comes in the form of a chilling Columbine-esque tragedy.

  6. I've never listened to Sunfire, so I can't comment on it's sound. Some say the sound is pleasantly warm. However, I do know that in terms of cost, space, and heat, the Sunfire beats Parasound. I own the A51 and A21, and the sound of it mated with Klipsch is absolutly phenomenal. 7. RF7's all the way, man. RF7's.

To do this, merely remove the jumper straps that connect the two sets of input binding posts on your speakers. Then, after connecting your preamp output to both power amps, send the output from one amp to both LF inputs (one on each speaker) and the output from the other power amp to both sets of HF inputs (one on each speaker). You can also modify this approach a bit by using one power amp for the R speaker and the other for the L speaker. In that case, send R channel output from your preamp to BOTH channel inputs on one amp and the L channel output on your preamp to BOTH inputs on the other power amp. Then, use one channel of the R power amp to run the LF inputs on the R speaker and the other channel on the R power amp to run the HF inputs on the R speaker. Do the same thing for the L channel. This approach should yield a bit better dynamic range and possibly better soundstaging due to reduced channel crosstalk in the power amps. Using one amp for each speaker balances the load on each of the two power amps rather than having one do all the hard work (bass) while the other loafs along dong just the mids/highs. This setup is called passive biamp because you are still feeding full range signal to all amp channels and then running through the passive crossover networks in your speakers. Active Biamp is accomplished by eliminating the passive networks inside the speakers and replacing them with an active, line level crossover network between the preamp and power amps. Much more work and much more expensive though should also deliver superior results. Hope this helps. ---------------- Great response! Now I FINALLY understand the difference between passive and active bi-amping. Thanks, Bob!
  9. Just wanted to give you a free bump and to say I love cilantro. Especially in tuna tatare and Vietnamese noodle soups.
  10. No, it's not just you. Here's another.
  11. Bret_Salyer - I'll bet that upgrade from Synergy to Reference made your day, huh? Can't even imagine the difference... =) RSP - Nice setup! For real! I notice you're a Parasound Halo owner too. Good stuff! If you get a chance, stop by Club Parasound at http://www.htguide.com/forum/forumdisplay.php4?f=21
  12. No terrorist group has claimed responsibility yet, as far as I know. Although everyone has a pretty good guess... I think the count thus far is about 40 dead, 700 injured.

We were still so busy figuring out just what happened when-- SMASHCUT TO BLACK. Credit sequence rolls.
  14. Good points. I think I'll just stick to the jumpers. Going down to the local hardware store is too much of a hassle.

  16. Hey, just a quick question. I've noticed people saying they've replaced the brass jumpers on back of their speakers with copper wire. However, many have said they've experienced excellent results with stranded copper wire, as in regular 12 AWG speaker cable etc. Yet I read it's best to use unstranded copper wire, such as Romex. Has anyone tried either, and does anyone have an educated opinion?
  17. It's always so funny to see people saying their gear is the way to go, or the best bar none. Recommend some stuff, but don't shove it down a guy's throat like it's the end all be all solution, you crazy, nutty, coffee-addicted people.

And tom cruise was a puss. Oh and the son showing up at the end..right. Save your money and go see Batman. ---------------- I agree with you. While the movie was at times quite a ride, the longer I spent outside the theater afterwards, the more I realized how much I felt cheated. As already said, the ending was far too abrupt. The son should have died. When the wife comes running at the end, and the leaves swirl up and surround them in a magical sunlit moment -- might as well have f__king white doves flying in the air ala John Woo already. Oh, and I HATE DAKOTA FANNING. After "I Am Sam," she should have retired. Irritating pest. I wanted to see FAR more military might. 8 Hummers and 1 tank does not represent our military. Where was the Airforce? Where was the Navy? Where were the damn SEALS!!! And most of all, where in the heck did the "Saving Private Ryan" or "Schindler's List" Spielberg go??? It was laughably pathetic. And this being the War of the Worlds and all, I wanted to see what was going on in other parts of the world, not simply America! This movie simply lost sense of the SCOPE of it all. For example, Tim Robbins mentions Osaka, Japan. But that's it. Hell, screenwriting 101 says: don't tell me, SHOW ME!!! But...being a Tom Cruise headliner and all...I suppose it's asking too much to draw the camera away from him for even a minute. Easily not one of Spielberg's best, and...even though it seems ridiculous to say, it felt to me as if their budget was cut short and they had to end the film "as is." It cost about $160 million to produce this pic. I think they should've invested another $50-70 million and made this picture what it really could have been. My concluding thought? There goes this summer's last great hope.
  19. I just took your guys' advice and bought a copy of Deadwing as well. Although I'm only halfway through listening to it (had to leave town for the 4th), from what I've heard so far, it's outstanding! The mix between full-out rock songs and those slower tunes is really, really something. Great recommendation, Scooter. I am highly enjoying it. And it sounds f__king great on my system too! Loud enough to kill a porcupine!
