  11. I think you will find that the fastest men in the world have always been under 6'. Tall guys just can't "pick them up and put them down" as fast. (long legs) Bolt breaks the mold.
  12. You were at my place last weekend and you thought that "I" was getting old? smile
  13. So help me with this. MA 700's bridge to 600wpc and weigh 22lbs? Or bridge to 600wpc and are 44lbs.? tc
  14. OMG! That is just too funny and so true!
  15. Ah man. I think that I have done almost everything in the book as to CW mod's. Networks, horns, tweeters, drivers, bracing..... The one thing that stands out for me? The K-600 is a nasty little thing at volume. Chews on your pant leg. After running several mid horns both inboard and outboard the small format FASTRAC horn wins. tc
  16. It has nothing to do with fitness. At 67 I worked at a 180,000sf sports complex and smoked most kids in the 40. Never needed day-glo spandex to do that. How's your bench? smile
  17. Only 94 here but at 6:41pm the heat index is 106. It's not the heat, it's the humility. tc
  18. She can't possibly be a cyclist because she's not dressed like a clown. tc
  19. MARKETING. Why did they replace the time tested zipcord with Monster cable? MARKETING, not because it was a needed "improvement." Similarly, why did Klipsch build speakers with bi-wire capability? Again, MARKETING trumped science. Bi-wiring is total yellow button, but the same customers who welcomed Monster Cable also welcomed bi-wire. Such superfluous BS did not put off the knowledgeable customers, so why not throw the marketing people some bones? Great examples and I'll buy that. tc
  20. The cost for sure. But why build in damping if they didn't think it was better? tc
  21. Why would Klipsch produce the K401 with built in damping if the K400 doesn't ring? tc
  22. Back in the day, at least one McIntosh pre-amp, the C-26, had a center output and volume control. http://www.roger-russell.com/c26pg.htm I see that PWK complained that the pre-amps with the controls were not conveniently located. Maybe this is what he was contemplating. IIRC we had some discussion of a Scott with center channel configuration long ago. I note that Klipsch was suggesting a small speaker as a center. Further, in a Dope from Hope he suggested that retailers should suggest that a buyer wait until he can afford a Belle with K-Horns so that lack of distortion would be matched by the Belle horn loading. I've often wondered why PWK (as far as I know) never suggested three CW's across the front (or Belle or anything). Three identical speakers are what was used in the Bell Labs demo. Of course there is some expense to all this. WMcD Well said. Had a Marantz 7-T preamp in the '70's and the center pot was on the back. In two channel: One reason for a center would be an excessive distance between the flanks leaving a "hole" in the middle. Another is that Khorns are locked into the corners so there is no toe-in. tc
  23. I was around for the last one. Several buddy's eating lunch. We all ran out onto the parking lot. Damnist thing I ever saw! The air had this intense thick blue tint. ( and no it wasn't an acid flashback) It was beautiful. tc
