  1. I listened to this wonderful little preamp for several weeks.......and soon forgot about the looks. Less is more with the Super Brick! tc
  2. Quicksilver Messenger Service doesn't get mentioned as do many others. It was underground and counter-culture. Not much air time for those groups. When was the last time you heard a Moby Grape cut on the radio? LMBO! tc
  3. In that day I think it was Steve Miller Blues Band.??? Back then music from Steve Miller was not the "top forty" stuff that most people remember him for. It was much harder. tc
  4. were you living in "The City" during the Summer of Love? (not sure how old you are, so don't be offended if that was before your day). Talking to my brother the other night and told him that i would have loved to have been part of the Haight/Ashbury scene. I was a few years too young. He said he could have gotten into that as well. You didn't ask me, but I lived in Oakland and spent much of my time in Berkeley and the Haight. I loved the FREE concerts in Golden Gate Park and in Provo park (Berkeley). Many name bands participated, nc the Airplane, Country Joe and the Fish, etc., etc. One time (fourth of July) the mayor closed Haight St. to auto traffic, and the bands set up at the end of the street (where it dead ended into Stanyan at the park entrance). People in the street and along the rooftops danced, as the rays of the setting sun streamed across the street. In an earlier post I wrote about how the dirt jumped off of the sidewalk in rhythm. You and Trav force me to date myself. I was 17 and all about the music, the chemicals and the positive effects on our society . Country Joe, Velvet Underground, Moby Grape, Mc5,Quicksilver,etc. tc
  5. "Nothing against the Cornwall III, just needs a better horn" Now lets not just pick on the Cornwall III. It is genetic. EVERY Cornwall (1,2 or 3)needs a better horn! smile That need inspired the bastard birth of Cornscala. tc
  6. I have listened to 2-way 510/K69's on several different bass bins and was not overly impressed with horn or driver. Then heard the 510/K69 in 3-way. Man that combo can TWEET! 3-way is my preference as well. But I wonder. Could age be a factor in that preference? Example: Some of our (ahumm) older forum members that mod run JBL 2404's wide open on 102db bass bins. ??? tc
  7. "Old and cold" "Don't give it away. Throw it away"
  8. Getting my head around this..... Build the second set of Cornscala's. Cross them high and run some different horns and drivers.. Cool. Finished the project and want to listen to them. "well let's see what amps I can put in there to ear test" How 'bout a couple of 1.2KW Mac mono blocks". They were handy. smile
  9. LOL "sound as good as any other" Wow! Wish I had known that before spending all the money. tc
  10. As always, nice tight boards. Surprised by the parts count on the 700's. Did LJ get to do any soldering? tc
  11. I'm in. I will bring treatments to pad down the farmhouse.
  12. Well said Stallion. Getting back into the forum with this thread. tc
  13. Really? I didn't care much for it. Well just think that I will continue with my JBL 2404's smile However they were expensive NIB. The old JBL it replaced was far better. Because I build and sell wood lenses I cant comment too much, but I prefer to listen to mylar diaphragms. Dave
  14. Too many factors there for me to say that the nets were responsible for listening to the best Khorns I ever heard. Closed backs, wooden trax mid horns with basketball sized Altec drivers, Bi-radial tweets. MC275's..... The room was great with hard corners but I like a little more separation smile tc Hey tc Hope your doing good and thanks for adding more details.... You too Mike. I am pleased to see a little life back in this old place! tc

The room was great with hard corners but I like a little more separation smile tc
  16. Dear God man it's just RTV (Dow Corning 732) Black (Christ, next time I'll use Grey). I'm of the less technical here so bear with me. Is this structural, to reduce vibration or have some other purpose? [/q [quote name="CECAA850" post="1930127" timestamp="1444165I am curious about that material John, does it solidify somewhat, like rubber? Is the vib in boards a big thing ????? tc Dear God man it's just RTV (Dow Corning 732) Black (Christ, next time I'll use Grey). I'm of the less technical here so bear with me. 18. Is that "Little James" ? Oh My look at the feet on that boy!
  19. Altec 511b horns are nice....but no. Not serious money. tc
  20. Welcome to this place. Not sure what is a good price. Depends on the number of working drivers. You will want to check that out and that they are of the proper Klipsch design. Know that this is not a "plug & play" system......But to hear them in a living room environment....They are just devastating tc
  21. That's not a great name. Glad to see you dug this thread out of the moth balls. Brings back good memories of this forum. Back then was less bickering and a myriad of DIY projects to enjoy watch come to life. Dave "that's not a great name" LMAO Dave tc
