    VRDS TRASHED

I had no more left the AGon site curious to see if these had sold, still listed by the way, and see your post showing the carnage. Sad to see the care taken to build and upgrade those beauties is shown so little respect. And VRD's are well packaged with their original boxes. Sorry to see, good luck.
  4. Porta-potty I think. For a short, really short person.
  5. With no horse in the rating of TX university's I suppose its good to see that Baylor has been left out of the conversation. With good reason I'm guessing? Going only on news media reporting would any of you send a child there? Male or female?
  6. Straying a bit from the technical to the physical I have owned and greatly regret selling the Eddie Vaughn El84 Carina. I believe I had Belles and/or Corns at the time. A tremendous amp which projected a sound far and above its 2 watt rating. I will snap up the next one I see for sale. Electraprint trannies I believe?
  7. Many started riding on the Honda Mini trails - teeny-weeny 6 cylinders, dime sized pistons! Knowing Mr. Honda this was not out of the question.
  8. Welllll - you only live once. It's oooonly money --
  9. Right you are Sir -- give that man 6 cylinders!
  10. Those six cylinder Hondas were jewels, what a beautiful machine. Is amazing how technology, machining, metallurgy had evolved over the past 30-40 years. My BMW K1600 6 cylinder engine with that of the Honda shows this - both engines are about 23 inches wide however the K bike incorporates water cooling passages into the same width. Cylinder spacing on the K is 5 millimeters I believe. HP on the CBX is around 100 vs. 160 on the K. But gawd that Honda is a stunning accomplishment and the sound of either engine you choose is music. Can you imagine how the Honda 250cc 6 cylinder race bike sounded?
  11. I like your bartending skills ---
  12. Another day another amp. Hooked in the Audio Sector gain clone using the LM3875 chip. This being run right after the Wright Sound 2a3 monos. As much as I like the Wrights on KHorn and RB75 I'm not sure it's the best match for Frankenstein. The Audio Sector sounds more balanced top to bottom than the 2a3. The 2a3 being leaner, a little too much from the big horn and not quite enough bass. And again as much as I like the 2a3 I think the Dennis Had KT66/88 single ended might be the better match for Frankie, again more balance from top to bottom. Both the KP450 and the BC 75 are rated at 8ohms which is where the Sector and Had play and where I set the Wrights. I may try the Wrights at 4ohms to see if that gives something to the equation.
  13. But isn't it amazing how the most passive thread can turn vile? I remember my thread on why the virtues of VRD amps which eventually was closed for gawd sakes. It went from why do so many preach their virtues to at threads end someone wanting to bend over someone's daughter. I mean how can such a swing of subject/opinion be predicted. It can't when a key board awaits.
  14. I now have two Frankensteins as my KHorns have Dave Harris Elliptrac horns and ALK extreme slopes. My only comparison to a stock KHorn was in the listening room at Hope where I had a very poor seating position and the electronics were mid- grade at best. I found those very forward and a bit harsh. My KHorns are really smooth, very well blended top to bottom. As you see in the photo for comparison the EAW horn atop the KP is much larger than the Elliptrac, the RB75 you see next to it will fit lengthways in the horn opening. It's much bigger than a 510, much smaller than a 402. A happy medium I guess. And the two inch B&C driver is much bigger than the stock K55 with the Elliptrac. Three way vs. two way. The Frank is less forgiving, livelier, sounds more like live music, more revealing. I was concerned the ported twin 15's would not give the tight horn loaded bass I like but that is not an issue. And even with 4 15's bass is not over done. I am having additional Klipsch certified ears over next week for a critique but they seem well balanced to me. I think the Crites networks perform well. Now this will raise some eyebrows but the Frankensteins have more of a RB75/subwoofer signature than a KHorn. Now I'm talking RB's on massive doses of steroids but that is the signature. Possibly both being ported two ways, both overly large compression drivers and horns equal to the mid/bass drivers? They are very efficient easily loud enough on 2a3 monoblocks. And way plenty on both EL84 and KT66 both single ended. Next up will be a 50 watt gain close chip amp. Kinda looking forward to that. I'm quite sure chitty electronics will be unpleasant, crappy SS I'm sure will take your head off. Very revealing to the source; bare thread, thin recordings are indeed bare. Well produced and balanced are depicted as such. So far so good --
  15. So as my wife and I frequently visit friends in Wichita it seems all the local talk was folks on the lookout for Frankenstein. I suited up and with help from Woody, he has been found, captured and relocated. Resting safely from the publics prying eyes he is performing as expected and then some. But dont cross this guy he Will take your head off at a moments notice. But he is purring at the moment. Its already becoming difficult keeping Frankenstein and the KHorns seperated. I see a family fued in the future. Thanks to Woody for assisiting in the capture and relocation of the mythical beast. But Frankenstein was doing well at Woody's, beautiful digs.
  16. That looks like a splendid way to f-yourself up. Do you have medical evac insurance for when your out in the boones and things go bad, real bad?
  17. How much does it cost for the jaw drop? And is that with tubes or SS? SS and for the total cost I could be driving a new Hellcat I try and not think about it Now THAT is difficult to absorb - I'm afraid there would be a HCat in the garage and a little less system. But I get it for sure -
  18. I have no doubt to that and would love to hear it - Are the Palladiums currently in play ?
  19. Tempting but I better not , spent way to much this week And that's stopped you - when ------?
  20. Yes, summer is traditioanlly slow for hifi sales. People are outside enjoying warm weather activities. And yes, school and associated expenses are just around the corner. I've seen many "new, lower price" on many AGon and US Audiomart offerings.
  21. I'll pass, thanks though. Read all about Ludicrous, if I'm not mistaken around 750 ft lbs of torque. And being electric that's instant torque. Fast or not That car has no soul. And at 125$K I need more than just a fast golf cart.
  22. Most, me included, sellers aren't going to disassemble speakers for shipping. Like I said, jump in the car.
  23. Steven St. Croix said it best; something to the effect of, "Yes, today's cars really are faster [than the old muscle cars]. But they have absolutely no soul." That may very well be true, on both counts. My friend who owns a really nice 1965 GTO Tri-power 4-speed and I had a little fun a while back testing his Goat against my '15 Challenger with the 6.4L 392 Hemi w/8 speed auto. I was so far ahead of him he stopped running early in his third gear. Keep in mind the Dodge is a big heavy pig but with nearly 500hp and a paddle shift auto that shifts in milliseconds it was no contest from the start. While it may not have "soul" when it's going through the gears with manual shift and the active exhaust is howling it stirs my soul.
  24. Not so sure I can blame the seller and the buyer should know that the heavy compression driver attached to the plastic horn can snap off if dropped violently, say during shipping. I would not be the only member that this has happened. The driver/ horn assembly should actually be braced internally to protect this from happening. That is a hassle for sure. If he wants them bad enough work a deal with the seller to meet at a location suitable to each and make the deal. I know many Heritage owners drive for their acquisition, I know I have, more than once.
