  5. Are you in a hurry to have some Heresy's? Sure, they look rough, but so what. Buy them, work on them, collect some components over time. Enjoy the fruits of your labor down the road.

  13. very risky indeed, not a great listing.
  14. Unfortunately, I am sure that this has been considered by ISIS, Taliban, AL Qaeda, etc, etc, to become infected, or gather some bodily fluids and come over here or Europe and infect as many people as possible. Markets, downtown crowded streets would be prime targets. If this ebola "problem" is not contained quickly and effectively, lots of the global economy could come to a grinding halt....obviously tourism would be one of the first to go....and it has suffered already.
  15. OK, so you guys are keeping us in suspense...share the pics?
  16. Brand new Monoprice Premiere 6ft balanced XLR cables. Packages never opened, never used. 5 cables, $25 shipped. 6ft Premier Series XLR Male to XLR Female 16AWG Cable (Gold Plated)
  17. Michael, I hope you are still holding some pie badges for me....No, those are not the CBR's, don't worry.....These are actually the first Cornwall's I ever purchased, for which I drove way, way, way out into the middle of nowhere Indiana (I'm not kidding).

    Gauge

Go to the 12 gauge with good connectors and you'll be all set. Have fun!!
  19. A good therapist? If that does not work, try bananna plugs. They are simple to change out and have a solid connection. My therapist gave up....he said my audio addiction is incurable.....and apparently so are many of my other afflictions.... I would much rather leave everything connected and use a switch to avoid possible mistakes and impedance mismatches, etc...
  20. I have multiple amps and receivers (some tube, some SS), and multiple sets of speakers (go figure...). I want to be able to hook up as many amps as possible and as many speakers as possible to a selection unit so that I can change configurations via switches rather than running around changing speaker wires like I'm doing now.....Recommendations and advice would be very much appreciated.

    Gauge

Perhaps we could be a little more helpful to someone who would probably appreciate a thoughtful explanation and recommendation. That said, the gauge of wire you use should be dependent on the length of the run to your speakers. The longer the run, the larger the gauge of wire you should use (a smaller number). For most applications, unless your room is huge and there are a lot of obstacles between amplifier and speakers, 12 gauge should be more than fine. IMHO 10 gauge is overkill and of course costs more. Most of the Knuconcepts line is excellent and I use it myself. Also be sure to use good quality connectors on both the amp and speaker sides. Banana plugs, spades, pins are dependent on the connection points on each side. Using bare wire to hook up without connectors is inviting trouble.....
  22. Maynard, thank you for your offer, and I will certainly check with him. Probably 1958 or 1959, not as old as me, but....close....
