  1. I don't think there is a clear definition as to "when" an XO needs replacement short of a failure. here is one thing you may want to consider... even when the original XO's were new, our modern XO's with the customization's availble to you are going to offer up a much better listening experience. you can expect increased resolution, a cleaner more spatial sound in terms of instrument seperation and a less harsh/shouty quality to the midrange (if you atenuate that area in your new XO) thankfully, I've never heard a heritage speaker sound worse when adding a modern well built/deigned XO... therefore your speakers can only sound better if you do it. in the grand scheme of things on my own journey... the Aletheia audio XO was the single biggest/best upgrade I have ever come across.
  2. 13" is what you want... as the screen size rises from there, the units get much more expensive. besides, 13" is all you really need. I have both a 13 and a 17 and the 17 is just a behemoth and while mobile, I love the 13 much better. there are so many in that range, what other specifics are you looking for? do you need fast start times and schock resistence (SSD, but wont happen at 600$)?, do you need graphic performance? are you playing games? remember, the higher the resolution the better the image but also the smaller the icons in that image (harder to read) Amazon has a GREAT return policy, zero issues with new units.
  3. Id be willing to bet its not the rc but the yamaha...
  4. prime is where it's at... forget kit lenses.

  6. I think we had this discussion very recently with varying points put forward... most would agree, an amplifier should only amplify the signal and not impart a signature. for me... the pre makes a bigger differnce unless that difference is a detracting influence... then the amplifier makes a bigger difference because it is detracting from the experience. just my humble O
  7. this is all very interesting... let us know if you do find a difference.
  8. I've always wondered what the attraction is to watching a movie outdoors...
  9. dean and justin... I sent you a PM's...
  10. Is your cartridge cantilever healthy and suspended normally? Even something as simple as needle build up will cause that scraping sound, and it will go away when clean again.
  11. Perfect justin... dont change a thing. These are priced perfectly and equiped perfectly.
  12. Whats the point of the thread... there are no lulz... no enlightenment... This place is being polluted.
  13. lol... oh well. give a man a fish and he eats for a day... thanks for that link. those are beautiful.
  14. yeah... that extra axis for weight/counterweight seems overly complicated. if i think about it a little, that lateral counter balance MIGHT HELP in terms of damping when it comes to antiskating... perhaps that is it's function. one thing I might ask is... did you counter weight with that lateral balance already in it's specified spot? if not, that can change counter balance values.... just something simple that came to mind.
  15. so OP should buy a new DAC just to use a FW connection...
  16. those are excetionally nice looking. I've often wondered what the performance difference is between those specific industrials and a home based LS... beside power handling. ae there major XO and wall thickness differences?
  17. hey zeus... are you just posting crap to bump up your post count?
