  1. Well then... to me this means everything is normal With content playback, Rears dont normally carry much signal anyway do they? They are mainly for ambiance and movement. Do you have any 5.1 music to test?
  2. Since I don't have any wall treatments, I have sound that seems to "gather" in the mid horn of my La Scalas that are my rears, but only when listening to two channel audio from my mains. I never noticed it when the La Scalas were my fronts and Chorus's were my rears. I don't think this is the same issue you are having, yet I hear some funky things from time to time. I could swear sometimes I think Im listening to 5 channel audio, yet Im not. Maybe some fabric on the La Scala mid and tweet might help? The Doppler effect I am hearing is pitch related. Like when a car drives past you with its horn blairing as the car passes it drops in pitch. Nothing big for me because its only happening, or noticeable, as the content begins to trail off at the end of a song... for about a second or so it is audible.
  3. It begins to trail off for about a second dean... this in NO WAY effects 99.999% of the song and your explanation is precisely what I think I am hearing. Remember I have have perfect pitch and have been guitar for over 40 years so it was just something my ears picked up on. I wouldnt trade what goodness I am hearing for anything!
  4. I would love to hear this comparison... I could do that here if I knew someone locally that had a SET amp to go up against the Bel Cantos
  5. YES!... I am close to committing to get a pair of LS and look forward to the review. very nice... good to have some science behind the sound for the naysayers.
  6. that's gotta be one of the greatest quotes I have heard in a very long while!!!
  7. I dont want to start a new thread, and to be honest, I am not sure why this occurs but... has anyone noticed a distinct Doppler effect when music begins to trail off at the end of songs? this might have always been there and now that everything is so clean and pure it's more noticeable, but this seems to occur at the end of just about every song for just one or two seconds as the sound begins to trail off and happens whether listening to digital or analog. A lot of components have changed so who knows why it happens, but it really is interesting to me how this would occur at all because there no moving parts other than the diaphragm.
  8. I've seen worse. No one's slinging arrows of righteous indignation yet. A couple darts......maybe. Yeah, I'm totally ok with the direction of this thread. As long as it doesn't get ugly and we start slinging "Yo Mamma" jokes. Honestly, there are bound to be skeptics. I honestly think I'm a good test subject to have the chance to hear the first DeanG RF-7ii because I have absolutely no previous experience with DeanG Crossovers, in no way am I being paid to endorse Dean and his work and I've never considered myself as an audiophile. I'm an average listener who loves music and loves the sound of Klipsch. I'm thinking if my ears hear a significant improvement in the sound, that's really saying something. I just hope I can express with words what my ears are hearing. Several times I have A/B two speakers and I hear subtle differences but cannot articulate what exactly I'm hearing (wider soundstage, dynamics, better midrange etc). The great benefit of this thread is I will share my honest thoughts on how it sounds. If I get them and they sound worse, I will tell you. If my ears really do not hear a difference, I won't be afraid to state that. If it's a significant improvement and simply sounds amazing, I will gladly provide a glowing review. Regardless, I'm anxious to hear what they sound like with the new crossovers. Anyone else getting excited? When you get them back, keep in mind the spatial qualities that now appear around each instrument in the recording you are listening to. I failed to articulate this when I initially wrote my review of the CW ox's Dean built for me... but what really is very apparent besides the vaslty increased resolution and reduction in granularity was this element of separation between individual elements in the music. Each instrument seems to be surrounded by negative space and its this negative space that helps make the recording more demensional. Of course my xo's are MUCH OLDER than yours... but in my case the results were like listening to an entirely new speaker system.
  9. Yes, I was told the same today. I was told it was "stupid bullshit". I was also told that my paper in oil builds are based on old, outdated designs, while the SuperX is an entry level design built with over priced parts. I actually laughed, and considering how well I take criticism, should be seen as a monumental leap in my development:) that is just sick... I mean really. Judgement without cause or the slightest sample of the goodness that can be had is really misguided. these things you build are stunning... AND they are based on old outdated designs
  10. I'm gonna put something on and see if I can break a hundred.
  11. Well...I noticed that the Cable debate is still going on so I guess some things never get settled. lol... true.
  12. the "testimonial" in an open forum is the purist form of getting to the bottom of truth.
  13. I saw that early this morning... I might have BIN for a mono setup if it wasn't so far away.
  14. Where is the option for neither?

I am debating on how... transparent... I want to be in this thread.
  16. This thread is getting good.... Put it this way... I pay dean for his expertise, not because he's cheap or cost effective. Give the man his due.
