  1. did you happen to have an idea of what the ratio for usage is for this Cyastat?
  2. I am not sure I understand that observation? are you under the impression class D means class "Digital"? just curious. Class D, as to my understanding, suffers when the sine wave is converted into a square wave and this is where audio signals can get truncated and some signal is lost that isn't necessarily essential. The next thing is the switching of the amp for full range vs subwoofers where the sub ranges don't really suffer. class D amps are High speed switches basically... all on or all off. I don't personally understand the truncated sine wave unless you are referring to the wave being turned off or pulse modulated, or the idea that the amplifier is in some way is converting the signal. please explain if you have more on this subject to share. but generally, my ice based units are very very good, superb black floor, great separation and clarity. I have heard some other ice based monoblocks or 2 channel rigs that didn't have quite the life of the Bel Canto's, but to each his own.

  4. I use monitor speakers for everything broadcast... your receiver should automatically "pass thru" sound via hdmi UNLESS the receiver is powered on. the only time I am running my speakers/amp system is during movies or 2 channel. I go from the cable box via hdmi to the receiver and to the monitor via hdmi.
  5. what about a Bel Canto USB/SPDIF converter to a Bel Canto 3.5 DAC... pricey new, but available used. http://www.belcantodesign.com/Belcanto_eOneSeries.html

Yes that is amazing, not so much "photoshopping" going on, that's pretty much what it looks like.... There a bit going on there, beleive me. Think saturtion and color balance, specially in the sky

I've never been but those do indeed look amazing. Photoshop is a wonderful thing.
  9. on your mark... get set... GO!
  10. Your reading comprehension skills need work. Obviously "we all know the benefits of tubes" is not an accurate statement. Not even close. Does this sound like someone who "knows the benefits of tubes"? people who don't mind the hassle one has to put up with to use these antiques, people who will ignore the limitations of old equipment and are willing to pay for it simply because they don't care. It's about the history, not the technology. How about this one? Pleasant distortions by way of even order harmonics is what makes the "warm" sounding. Not a bad thing, but not worth the money. Been there done that with Mac, Marantz, HK Citation, Dynaco, Scott, etc................space heaters that need to have the bias babysat and tube replacment/matching I am neither taking it personally nor being defensive. Just participating in a "spirited" debate. The above posters shared their point of view, yet you felt no compulsion to call them out for it. I shared mine, with no condescending tone or personal insults. Just my opinion. You need to let this one go. Shakey  I'm not buying it... still more insolence is to come, of that I am sure.
  11. Has anyone here run a Tube front end with the reference 7's for 2 channel? I realize there are benefits for heritage, but I am wondering what the effect is in the reference line...
  12. I don't get the defensive attitude Shakey. There is NO REASON FOR IT as this is not an assault on you personally and there is no need for the guilt by association type attitude. We ALL KNOW the benefits of tubes, and I really do not think anyone here is trying to say one is better than the other or in fact trying my marginalize or "discount" one or the other... I think some of us are saying there are alternatives. even PWK has written articles of fondness for SS
  13. I'd kill for a slide rule like that one hanging on the wall.
  14. thank the Apollo program, and all your tax dollars, for the integrated circuit!
  15. wow... that is a great starter pair! they look very solid and very presentable.
  16. You should listen to even more modern solid state designs like Class D. ^BANG! lol. I do have one question for the tubers, and you should tell me please if it's a stupid question or not... do tube designs ever use toroidal transformers or is that completely inappropriate?
  17. I'd like to get PERSONAL opinions on the subject of replacing cross overs in our factory Klipsch speakers, and why do we do it. What do we hope to gain by replacing these components, and at what point are we reaping diminishing returns on the components involved? I am sure the factory units are sourced with value in mind in order to control costs, but those of us that have aftermarket cross overs are not subject to that cost analysis in terms of economies of scale. Do we do it to be able to tune and attenuate our speakers... to hear increased resolution or clarity... or just because we can?
  18. I think it depends on how fast you want to sell them... and of course condition. 2000-2800 perhaps.
