  1. Nordost Bolstered by my new configuration when I recently added monoblocks to my system, I decided to try and upgrade some of the wiring and interconnects in hope of extracting even more joy for my two channel listening environment. I have been using cheap interconnects that I just happened to have laying around the house until now... when I decided to purchase a quartet of Nordost solar wind inteconnects. when i made the move to Bel Canto monoblocks, my system really came alive... the sound being extremely crisp, detailed and sparkling on the upper range all while projecting great separation, dimensionality and an absolute Black floor that was DEAD SILENT! After installing the Nordost, I immediately experienced a very audible hum/buzz that didn't raise or lower with volume... and on top of it all, sound became very flat with little separation and zero sparkling highs. What seems to have happened? having never worked with nordost before I did notice that the wires seemed unshielded and exposed to external influence... but regardless of where I move the wires (closer to power or further away from power) it made zero difference. My previous interconnects were a pair of EXTREMELY CHEAP RCA's... but they performed in my system exceptionally well. I guess what I am looking for is possible answer's prior to me putting the nordost up for sale.
  2. does anyone want to email him and tell him how badly he traded?
  3. Yeap... the guy seems a little desperate so I am posting here in hopes someone will step up and get these. it does seem like a smokin deal. at first I thought that the sub was a SVS... but he told me he assembled it himself. Still looks pretty good.
  4. WTF... I never saw these on Ebay! it's only a handful of hours away from me also!
  5. 1974 fully original klipsch la scala's...( super hard to find ) the center channel is a custom klipsch speakers which is so big it needs its own table, only way to go when combined with the massive left and right la scalas...the sub is 15 inch powered with klipsch amp plate on wheels... if your interested the la scalas are $1000....i will throw in the sub to sweeten the deal.....let me know ...regards jason La scalas AND DYI sub @ $1,000 No affiliation...
  6. the M97 is indeed a good chocie for entry level listening.
  7. Thanks, but Mrs. Young's idiot son has better sense! An idiot doesn't have better sense! certainly does not have any sense... just take a look at that post^ at least boom seemed to have "gotten it"
  8. I've always wanted to know... is that the actress Tilda swinton?
  9. prepare to be blown away. also... monoblocks WILL indeed make a difference.
  10. that's probably something akin to what has happening in my place... off axis has FAR MORE db's than the listening position.I am just wanting to see what other far higher reviewed subs might sound like in my set up. I am not unhappy by ANY STRETCH of the imagination. If I were you iron, I would give her a try... it's well worth it.
  11. great set up OP... congrtulations and welcome ot the forum.
  12. $85 for that POS... stay away from it OP. look on criagslist or eBay and get a SL1200 for now if you want entry level goods that are both re-sellable and that you can live long term with.
  13. I've had mine for some time... it's alright with music(fair to good), but it simply can be outclassed by a few other subwoofers that are outstanding. if you can live with good, you are probably okay with it. as far as HT goes, this thing digs DEEP and shakes the house very competently. it does LFE very well. mine is used in a 50/50 setting... I listen to a lot of music and analog music and I am okay with it. Lately I have been wanting to try other subs because my focus for that area of my system seems to be shifting slightly to Musical instead of HT.
  14. what happened to the grills? I was high bidder.
  15. I would say... right BELLOW direct dead center.
  16. that was very interesting... thanks for sharing.
  17. Very nice... details? Someone once told me it was bad go put amps in vibration areas... is that not the case?
  18. I wouldn't have an issue paying prices close to those... I am just not an oak man.
  19. WOW, has anyone ever changed the screen or any other parts in a smart phone... ******* intense! the steps are easily accomplished but everything is so ******* microscopic it's nuts. some of the screws were no bigger than a pencil lead and everything is so fragile including the micro soldering. Who designs these things
  20. why do those look so shiny? is that vinyl or hardwood veneer?
