  1. In some situations, it might be more complexity than it's worth (?) Now, I presume you mean true biamping and not some of those marketing ideas. True biamping is signal out of preamp, goes into active crossover, out of active into power amps and then to speakers. Meanwhile, you will have unhooked the passive inside your speakers... oh, aren't the 20's a 3-way speaker? Are you going to tri-amp? You could perhaps leave the HF passive in there and feed one leg to woofers, second leg to passive and let it split to the tweeter. Might be a bigger bite to chew verses just plugging in and enjoying. What problem are you attempting to fix?
  2. Cleveland Ohio or Cleveland Tennessee? I grew up in Hamilton, down near Cincy....several hours from Cleveland. Today, am in Knoxville.... maybe 90 minutes from Cleveland (TN) Maybe Cleveland is trying to tell me something? Welcome to the madness. Your setup looks very nice! Tomorrow's game will sound fantastic on it (as will most everything else)
  3. May as well add some color to the thread.... (long live dead threads!!) Looking them up on Ebay, the one I saw said it had a 100 meter water resistance rating. If you are looking for a "dive" watch, then you want one rated at 200 meters. Put it this way: 50 meter rating = splashing water on it while washing your hands 100 meter rating = you can swim with it on 200 meter rating = you can now feel free to actually go scuba diving with it 1,000 meter rating = nobody is going to be looking for your dead azz! The ratings as I understand are for static pressure, not dynamic. So, if you take a 50 meter rated watch....dangle it from a string and take it down 150 feet, it should likely survive. The fly in the ointment however is you can't move. Once it's on your wrist and you are MOVING you are adding other pressure to it which is why you need the 200 meter for actual scuba diving. If you don't intend on ever jumping in the water then disregard all the above and one can do as they please. A friend of mine bought a Tag. It was rated at 1,000 meters. He's never going to go much deeper than a swimming pool.... but he thought it was a cool looking watch AND it happened to visually fit his size (he was a big dude). Public Service Announcement is now over, you are free to go back to your morning Rice Crispies.
  4. I'd replace them with K402's..... Might be a tight fit though.

    Checking in

Welcome back, even if it's only a drive by taunt! Watch out for some of these guys.... they're still kinda creepy. Now that the creepy subject has been broached, I notice you strategically hid your ear-lobes on your picture.... Hmmmm......
  6. Could you perhaps find a used system on ebay/other? The older series had issues with the cord breaking internally. Though since fixed, might be people out there replacing them (cord issue, amp issue.... BUT maybe the speakers are fine?) Maybe it's time for a purchase order.... will they let you replace with what you want? (thinking MWM's lol)
  7. A bit rhetorical.... How high can you hear anyway? Terry DeWick was once at my house. Wanted to hear the Undergrounders..... brought some tunes AND some testing equipment. Went through some of the tracks.... then he pulled out his analyzer, slapped his mic wherever he put it.... and did some frequency sweeps. I was amazed at how linear the line was as it swept up the frequency.... then it dawned on me.... the line was still going up but, my ability to hear it had stopped. I don't recall but I think it was 14K to maybe 16K and it was quiet BUT, the line was still moving. Not being terribly technically minded like some of the others here, that made me wonder if there was any merit in situations where someone might add a 'super-tweeter' if you can't hear it up there. Now, side comment.... when I was in college, I took a physics class. I had a curious question, wondered if the Prof might know so visited with him at his office. The question was essentially: If you have two tweeters, one can go to say, 25Khz and the other can only go to say 20Khz. Since the higher frequency is symbolic of it vibrating faster, would that mean that at LOWER frequencies, the tweeter capable of faster movement would be able to 'fill in' some of the lower content with more accuracy since it can move quicker than the "slower" tweeter. He said I was actually asking about a power question and went way over my head.... (I was looking for yes but....or no but... and I was lost on his answer) @mikebse2a3 I just gotta say, your comments are ALWAYS fantastic. Your calm, smooth demeanor, technical detail, open approach to your posts are always of great help and a good read. I don't know if or how often you've been called out on that so I thought it deserved a shout out! (not to diminish anyone else's)
  8. Lol, Amen to that lol.... I totally understand that. What about building false corners so you can bring them in to what works for you? (I do presume to know her reaction already.....but felt worth mentioning)
  9. I don't know the distance but, could they simply be too far apart and you have a hole in center? I think this is why PWK came up with his magic box that setup a center channel. Would seem to me that if everything is working correctly, you wouldn't need a different/additional tweeter. I don't however, know the optimum width of room before more width starts to create a problem. Perhaps someone will chime in about that.
  10. Looks similar to when I had my Heresy's on top of the Jubilee bass bins (using bass bins to add some meat to the bottom, worked fantastic)
  11. That's pretty cool. Good PR if nothing else....here it is decades later and that gesture is still flowing good vibes.

    Super Bowl

(Bengals Fan Alert) I was thinking same thing. Mahomes is 0-3 verses Burrow.... so to be frank, the law of averages is concerning me. Hard to see KC losing four times....BUT, the talking heads didn't see three consecutive coming either. I suppose this is why they play them. Rooting for the Bengals of course, part of me would like to see 49'ers also.... give Cincy a chance to avenge the 80's although hard to say ANYTHING is similar between the two teams today other than Mike Brown (owner of Bengals). Well, maybe him and the fan base.... beyond that, there can be no revenge factor for the team but, as a fan, it would be nice to see a last minute win by the Bengals, sort of like what Montana did to them back then. Looking forward to the game today.
  14. Lol, somebody was on a treasure hunt.... I've not seen it/them mentioned. Trying to avoid those previously mentioned. Toto - Live in Poland Toto - Live in Amsterdam Toto - 40 trips around the sun Similarities on the play lists but there are differences. For what I listen to, (and I've got the Heart, Frampton, Orbison, Harrison Tribute, others....) These strike me as some of my better sounding disks some of my higher rotated disks. Along with: Phil Collins Live in Montreaux Dire Straits Alchemy (more for the sound than video however that other guitar guy must be spastic Alan Parsons, Never Ending Show and Symphonic Project INXS Live Baby Live is always fun to listen to Neil Diamond, Hot August Night, NYC REM, Perfect Square Moody Blues, Days of Future Passed Justin Hayward (of Moody Blues) Live in Capistrano Pink Floyd, Delicate Sound of Thunder (actually playing that right this moment) Roger Hodgson (of Supertramp) Live

    PMs

You've been avoiding me since we last met..... maybe I come across worse in person than in prose... I do however, agree with the sentiment. I've had Oldtimer blocked on PM's for years now.
  16. Title says you ordered K33's First comments say you are replacing them for KLF-30's KLF 30's didn't use K33's so if you need them for KLF-30's, as 001 states above, you need the K31 driver. K33 is a 15" driver that goes in some of the larger Heritage (Khorn, LaScala, Belle) The K31 is a 12" driver so the 33 ain't gonna fit! (and we all know that if it doesn't fit, you must acquit!!) Sorry, I had to sneak that in. I don't know the answers but the K31 ALSO goes into the Underground Jubilee's. No idea if it is being used in the Heritage Jubilee but if it is, then they should have it on the shelf somewhere. They stopped making the old version of the K31 for whatever reasons....but Roy got them resourced from someone else.... so I'm of the belief that they should still be available.
  17. Double the Absolutely.... so that would be a 20
  18. Nope. I had it at the office, to be blunt, so it would be secure & safe. I figured why have it in its case?? So I put it into the corner and it really did look fantastic in there. I had it listed locally. Interestingly, about a week after listing it (Craigslist) I got a call. Seems someone (who also lived in Oak Ridge where Chris lived) played the Upright..... said he was looking for a new one. They came to the office to see/play it. Now, to be fair, I know nothing about this so pardon any butchery I'm about to create. He played it.... and he & his wife both oohed and ahh'ed..... "Honey, did you hear the depth of that D note?" "this string has more presence than the one I already have" We'll TAKE IT! I really had no clue what they were talking about until they said they'd take it. I really didn't have any business keeping something like this as it would only get beaten up over life and I have no clue how to play it. Between the 300B's and this..... those were the two items that really gave me some pocket change to make this worth it. Most everything else was more of an even trade. More importantly to me though..... she would have probably take $3,000-$5,000 'right now" to get to her goal. So I feel good that I helped transfer more of his value to her than what would have happened had she done it on her own.
  19. I think you hit one nail on the head. A number of years ago (2008), a guy that I'd met were becoming friends. His mother had just passed so he was living in her condo. She had a grand piano. He was a professional musician, played the upright bass. He had acquired Khorns, LaScalas, Esoteric CD player, McIntosh, Viva 300b, various things all of somewhat expensive nature. Seems he had inherited some cash when Mom passed.... Backstory: He was terribly over-weight and didn't move around well. Years prior, he had slipped in shower, broke through the shower door glass which nearly sliced his arm off so he was unable to play the Upright anymore... The sad reality is, he was spending funds faster than he made them. He had borrowed my book about Mr. PWK and wife & I went on a month vacation to Europe and Turkey. Came home, called to catch up. Got voicemail. Called couple days later....voicemail.... Couple days later, his niece called. Seems he had committed suicide. Sat upright on his bed, back to the wall.... put a bullet through his head. I explained the book, she said I could come and get it. While there, I saw all this electronics stuff. She had NO interest in it and was "going to get rid" of it. So, I made a suggestion. I said, what if I buy it? She was fine, how soon can you take it away. I said no so fast.... let me research. I got a list of everything, went to Ebay, found as best I could, listings of similar items. Added it up and let's call it $20,000. I showed her the tally and said "I don't want to see you taken advantage of.... the market price on this seems to be about $20K. What if I buy it all.....however, now I'm taking a risk and that's not necessarily fair to me. So, my proposition is, deduct 20% off the top for the risk I'm taking and I'll pay you cash. So let's call it $16K to her and now, good luck to me. We did it. I think I made $3-4,000 myself after it was all said & done. One reason is, unknown to me, he had a Quad package of brand new Westinghouse 300B's. I didn't see them. Put them on Ebay, they alone went for around $1,500 so it was really those that made it worth it for me, everything else, I was just a middle man, currier to help move. I know the Khorns went to a forum member, a fretless bass guitar went to a buddy of mine. I kept his upright bass in my office at work, in the corner. It REALLY looked fantastic in there.... as though I might have a small dash of sophistication but, we all know that's not true. If you've read this far, I'll steal another 2 minutes of your life..... When the forum member called me about the Khorns, it happened that I was at this condo. I said I'll play them for you! Turned things on, found a Harrison "All Things Must Pass" cd.... I've always loved "What is Life" so moved to it.....hit play....turned the volume up and phone speaker on so he can hear. (back history: I have never owned this LP /CD so was unaware that there were TWO versions of this song on it) There were no vocals. Where the HEIII are the VOCALS??? OMG, I told this forum member how great they sound and you can't hear squat for vocals... oh wait, there's some faint vocals (there is some bleed through if you can hear it).... I'm panicked.... He's on way to get them from North Carolina as I recall, and something has happened. I jammed my ear to the tweeter....yep. Jammed to the midrange.....yep...... WHERE ARE THE VOCALS????? Sigh. But, as you can see, I can laugh about it.
  20. My bride would most likely be happy to have someone take things off her hands. She'd probably pay you to take those "big ugly teenager speakers" that she will also tell you, sound better than anything she's ever heard. She won't be sentimental about them. Perhaps a good riddance lol. Been together 34 years, I don't expect her to surprise me.
  21. That just makes my mouth water.... (sounds kinda creepy saying that) lol
  22. Disclosure: I've never heard the Heritage Jube They both have the 402 on top.... so the horn is the same. Do you have the K69 driver or something else? If K69 then the TAD 4002 is a clear improvement BUT, you want to be sure to get the BE diaphragms instead of after-market. Is the HF driver on the Heritage better/same/not as good as the TAD? I have no idea, that's way out of my pay grade knowing nothing technical about them. Bass Bins: I'd expect the Heritage to dig deeper than the Underground. So if you put the same driver on the 402 and worked from top down, I would (want to) expect that up high, no difference. I would expect the biggest difference to be down low where the Heritage digs deeper than the Underground. Does that infer that if you kept the Undergrounders, slapped an appropriate (horn) subwoofer, you could meet/beat the Heritage Jube? I don't know but I'd want to think yes however, you are now adding another (quite large) speaker into the equation, another amp.... Is the Underground 50% of the Heritage on a one-on-one basis? How about 72%? 90%? I have no clue. i still look forward to hearing them for the first time. I had marked (I think March?) off to go to the Pilgrimage, then work decided that specific week will be when they do some major mumbo jumbo thing that I have to attend so that kills it for me this year.
  23. If they're within my circle and timing allows, I'm happy to swing by and give a listen if someone gets serious. (can't see where they're located though, am I missing something?) Edit: Never mind. I drilled into it deeper and see they're in Brentwood/Nashville. Furthest I go in that direction is Crossville.
  24. Not really sure how I stumbled onto this but at first smell, it strikes me as "if it sounds too good to be true....." https://jennipr.shop/products/take-amazon-warehouse-one?sku=18057575506582165906952803 I've glanced around at the tools, the trays, the brands... to be blunt, I find the "savings" comments to be VERY out of line. If there is (as suggested) a full pallet of these goodies, then (making up numbers) "$350"..... $56 doesn't make sense. If they are saying the value of the pallet is $350 (or whatever) then I'd disagree as it seems from memory those things are more expensive at the store. Looking at a rolling tool 'chest', they show $1,100.... I google Kennedy rolling tool chest, and they exist but for $1,100 you're looking at a BIG one which now suggests the item they show is way inflated (while the tools seem to be way undervalued) I'm still puzzled. Never heard of this. If it's legit, I'd be open to buying a couple pigs in a poke.... monetary damage isn't too bad and could (hopefully) flip them back out and if it's all trash, it's not a huge amount. I DID see a line of pictures of various electric tools.... interestingly they ALL have a brand name missing. One looks like a DeWalt miter saw....but I've never seen a DeWalt that looks like that. That suggests it's a chinese knock off (which most of this stuff now comes from china, I get that) Curious of other thoughts.
