Meilleures salutations, Travis
  2. They tried, trust me. Apparently there are 3 distinct versions of CF-3. They asked The Historian who was on the line with me when your call came in. I bet Roy would know, but he is on vacation. They really did try to find the answer.
  3. That's what they say. Do a search on reel to reel in 2 channel and feel free to post or bump anything you feel is worth commenting on today,
  4. Bose 901s set in front of Khorns have no audible effect on the Khorns. Apparently, Bose are acoustically transparent.
  5. To the fullest extent allowed by law. The Museum has received its official 501 (c)(3) status from the IRS. When we are in a position to start accepting donations, selling memberships that will all be spelled out and I will post a copy of the Determination Letter. Good question, thank you for asking.
  6. Thank you for the responses Mike and Chris. It is kind of what I expected. I have seen time and time again people like magazine writers, bloggers, audio salesmen, etc. try and answer the question presented in the OP by saying "it's because you own horns. Horns are fatiguing, everyone knows that. "
  7. We will as soon as it is set up. That is in the process of being set up. Travis
  8. Do you still have the original Khorn crossovers? Do one Khorn with the replacement xover, do the other Korn with the original. Get people in there that have no idea what xover is in what, play them a favorite tune, ask them IF they have a preference, L. Vs Right, or no difference. See what they say.
  9. I meant in general. I don't listen to much after '91. Travis
  10. Thad, I don't know if this is a historical question capable of being answered by the Historian. It may involve market trends, competition, intellectual property, or lack thereof, increased competition and/or economic environment. But I will ask him to see ifor there is anything from a historical perspective.
  11. This is where I hear some differences. Some say the US cleans, even the dirtiest of records. That it has saved records that have been through 2 or 3 VPI or other RCM cyclass. Others say it won't remove oil based stuff, and you need to run through RCM withe your chemicalsite of choice, that US is really more for a deep rinse to remove residual chemicals, brush fibers aND unseen dust.
  12. Not to sidetrack this thread, but the "crew" is in here already, Mike, Dean, Chris, et al, so I thought I would ask. Is it known what causes "listening fatigue." I have experienced it myself and know what it is, however, I have found it isn't necessarily tied to a particular set of speakers. Doesn't the source and type of music have to be factored in (Chris)? Does lack of DR in the recording contribute to "listening fatigue." What about the room it's acoustical properties (Mike)? What about amp topology, SS v. Valve (Dean, Mike)? Frequency Response? Some days I can sit and read a book for 20 minutes and I'm done. Other days, 6 hours straight. It depends on a lot of factors like light, fatigue, posture, size and type of font, and obviously the content. Is "listening fatigue" pretty much understood to be the result of the speaker, or do you also have to look upstream?
  13. I'm getting better at it, it is a much more robust search function, but there is a learning curve to it. If you give me an idea what you are looking for I will see what I can come up with and let you know how I did it. Feel free to post anything you were curious about searching for as a new post. Travis
  14. 2 Channel has always been a welcome home to discuss vinyl and reel to reel. I understand the thinking about a subsection, but there is a downside to getting too many subcategories. One is that there are thousands of posts on vinyl already in 2 Channel and there is some advantage to having it all in one place. Second, in two channel if will be seen by more people, making the chance for more responses and interest. Vinyl and turntables have always been a major part of 2 Channel, but like everything else it ebbs and flows.
  15. Everyone I know with personal experience with the Ultrasonic says it is best way to go, BUT, have they come down from that 4K price? How long is the US process. Any chemicals or just demonized lab grade water?
  16. Met Thad/Michael in Hope, and his lovely wife. He is a philosoph, a very deep thinker. A man with his priorities in order in my opinion.
  17. When they told me the bad news I said you would be the perfect moderator, you actually already have been for years. Frankly, anything I might do right as a moderator is because of the fine example you have made over the years.
  18. By definition no, the 1st Amendment doesn't apply to private forums.
  19. Vast, vast, vast, vast majority. But don't forget that recent poll about having a custom Heritage shop. There might be some great news ahead.
