  1. If you would like an oil finish, buy some tounge oil, it is very easy to apply, looks good, and wont saturate the wood with a non drying oil, and protects well to. If you want to add some color to your Klipsch, then check into sikkens cetol products. Consult your local Benjerman Moore dealer, he will guide you. {and they wont stink}

The guys there called me Sand-Boy, because I hated it so much. Radiob,..this is the 4th pair of heritage that I've refinished. All were refinished per factor spec/(Andy), with Boiled Lynseed Oil. I did something slightly different from spec, in that the first coat contains a slight mix with Mineral Spirits, which is a trick I learned for thirsty neglected wood. The wood grain will more readily absorb the BLO mix if you add a little MS. About 20% MS is what I've used. ---------------- While I am sure that you have finished 4 pairs of speakers with linseed oil, it clearly shows your in-experience as a re-finisher, and should stay a SAND BOY. I am in my 14th year as a professional refinisher, paintrers union trained 4 year program, and own my own refinishing business. If you would like to read the MSDS sheets on linseed oil, and see how much you have shortened the life of your cabinets, I would be happy to provide them for you. Linseed oil is a paint additive, made to retard the dring out of EXTERIOR oil base coating. Ever wonder when the smell would go away? YE BE WARNED ON THIS FOLKS< NO LINSEED OIL, if you all would like I can give you the e-mail of Craig Oconner, he is a chemist for Old Masters coatings,he is a very knowledgeble guy, and wouild be happy to advise you. I dont know much about how audio equipment works, but I know nearly everything there is to know for furniture re-finishing.
  3. Blinded by the light.....
  4. I hav a set of paramours with all of the upgrades and the meshplates, never heard moondogs, but I did research them, and the bottlehead extensivly. I went with the bottle heads because of the terrible reputation of the tech, service and parts for the moondogs. Before you buy the moondogs go to the tube asylum and post for others with the moondogs to explain the problem with Ron.It will be very hard to beat the cost and sound of the paramours.
  5. "$20,000 bmw`s ? ++++++++++++++ Motorcycle, car or something else?" B&W Signature 800`s, no not motorcycle, speakers, did I say bMw? No, b&w, no pro typist here, only a pro listener.
  6. "I have just discovered that the numbers on page two of the PDF that are in the grey area of the chart did not make it through the trip through my fax machine and into my computer. Contrast problem I suppose. Anyway, there are only two more numbers per speaker and here they are in case someone wants them." I know that the chorus2s will go to 122 db with 300 watts, Type in the search Chorus2, and look at the thread chorus2, forte who.
  7. Man, I just laid down a deposit on some VMPS Super Tower R/se`s today that are in Indiana. Shipping is going to be interesting, Im having them dropped off at my fathers in South Bend Ind, near the owner and letting Dad figure out the shipping, its 500lbs for the pair.
  8. Congrats, on the woofer. Today I ordered a set of VMPS Super Tower R Se`s, wont really be needing my paradigm servo 15 sub anymore.
  9. You could use a sikkens cetol red mohogany, and spray it with conventional equipment, or an HVLP capspray type sprayer. Apply thin even coats until the desired effect is met. You can pick up the sikkens cetol at any Benjerman Moore dealer. It is a translucent color varnish, it will be red mahogany, but you will not have the grain of the wood.
  10. I can confirm that 3 watts of 2a3 through my chorus2s brings them to a level of audiophile liquid that I have only been able to here through $20,000 b&w`s and big Krell mono blocks, dont knock 3 watts, try it, youll see.

  17. Ive been listening to them since monday now. It took me about 2 days to learn how to listen to them. I wasnt sure at first if they sounded that great.Three days in I learned to back the volume down to about 86-69 db through my chorus2s, and started to here in 3-d big time. I then received some new tubes for my blueberry and new TJ mesh plates for the B.H. on wendsday, one of the tubes 3-d zapper had recomended for the blueberry was a amperex a frame from holland. I switched to the A frame and mesh plate, and wholahhhh, Ive got the combo now. I belive the system is as good a the best I have heard in my time, and I have had and heard a lot of nice setups.
  18. Dont talk about your stereo, dont even bring it to their attention, Tell them about their smiles and eyes. Oh ye, hard liquer is a must.
  19. I tried Dared, it is good stuff for the money, but then I sold it, and went with bottlehead 2a3, you can get a pair of bottleheads for 500.00 new with no mods and it wil simply out sond the dared 10-1. Rob
  20. All for it, I have quite a few tubes I could pass around. I received my bottleheads monday and havent had time for the forum,. Been stuck in front of my chorus` tring to figure out exactly what it is thats happening. You guys with this stuff already no where im coming from, Ill explain later about my latest tubes and treasures, Rob
  21. "it was stated that the 10's don't have the surface area of the 15's in the heritage line...while that may be true (15% less surface area) they're tuned very well and have maxed my spl meter out at 30hz (127db" ----------------------------------------------------------- Lets see the 127 db, what kind of amp did you use for that type of volume? Set up the db. meter and post a pic. Got 5 bucks says no way.Rob
