I had a cople of subwoofers stacked for about a week before I sold one. I still have the RSW12. Anyway, the RW12 got little rings on the top where the RSW had been sitting. I don't know if there is a way for you to avoid that but those little round rubber feet will leave marks on the RSW15. I don't really know if it would be permanent but I tried getting them off but they didn't go away. Congrats on the RSW15! I am still keeping an eye out for an "I can't believe my eyes" deal on a 15... but I don't think I would keep my 12 in that situation. Does it add that much to your system to have two stacked?
  2. You have to be trusting that a second party will complete the transaction as agreed upon. Otherwise, nothing would be sold online! As soon as you completed your half of the transaction, the seller should have completed his in a timely manner, 2-3 days tops! I recently purchased a D-Link USB adapter and I was told it was B2 version, the version I needed for my TIVO. I receive it and it turns out to be a B1 version. Now, I don't know if it is going to work or not but ultimately, some people are just like that... (at least it was shipped quickly!) Later, D

  5. A little more accurate of a story: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a homeless man with an empty bowl comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, asks for some help, the look of desperation and despair glazes across his face. You are carrying a (insert handgun model here) and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? Democrat's Answer: Poor man, I wonder what we can do to assist this gentleman? We could feed him for a night but that won't solve his problems. How can I relay to my children how important it is to help our fellow man? I wonder how scared my wife is? Each man/woman have their own story about how they got where they are but how much of that burden should society actually carry? This is all so confusing! I need to discuss this with some friends for a few days to try to come to a conclusion. Maybe we can ask our elected officials to do more to end homelessness and hunger in America. Republican's Answer: BANG! A man has to pay for his decisions... plus one less burden to the American taxpayer (ME!). Texan's Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click OOOWWWWWW!! I just blew off my foot!!
  6. Tekworm, You have a PM. If it were to come down to the Pioneer or Yahama, I can tell you I had a Yahama with my Klipsch speakers for about a month and it did a very good job. I have had a Denon so long now I can't tell you how they compared, I can only tell you I certainly like the sound of my Denon. I had an old Pioneer system before I got my Klipsch that lasted 10 years without a problem. Well, there actually was a problem, the pioneer speakers were crap, but I didn't figure that out until I got some good Klipsch speakers to place beside them. I have been frequenting this site ever since... Good luck! D
  7. I am going to toss in The Fifth Element, simply because it is one of my favorite movies for sound and visuals! D

Obviously, being an anime, it wasn't nearly as well-known to the mass public, but critics all hail it as the "Incredibles Killer." And I agree. It's an amazing movie with awesome characters, mind-bending action, constant twists and turns, an unbelievable plot, brilliant story-telling, massive machinery, insane robots, incindiary firepower, breathtaking visuals, and lush orchestration. SEE IT!!! ---------------- I am going to try and find it. If it truly is an "Incredibles killer" then it must be one whale of a movie! In the meantime, I would second National Treasure. It is a recent release so maybe fewer have already seen it. It can keep most of th ekids attention but is serious enough to keep the adults attention as well. And maybe, just mayber, there is some history that everyone can pick up on and learn.

For now, I will ship FedEx preferred and maybe give DHL a try before I go back to UPS. ---------------- Do you recall if it was FedEx or FedEx "ground". Big difference. FedEx, from what I have heard is pretty good at paying out...on the other hand FedEx Ground (the old RPS) is terrible (my experiance). Never had a claim with FedEx non-ground, so can't say. As for DHL my Carada screen was shipped to me via DHL because of the size. The are the WORST, but that is another story all together. Carada, however was a pleasure to deal with. ---------------- It was FedEx Ground just your cheapest, run of the mill ground service with insurance. They gave me virtually no hassles on my claim and allowed me to keep the speakers in which I pulled out the glue gun and soldering iron and fixed. So, they are now as good as "used" plus they were free! Oh, congrats to the buyer and seller of the Academy! (The least I could do since the post got hijacked...)

Both my friend and I got a pair of RF-3IIs (they've been discontinued, with RF-35s taking their place) for around $500 at authorized dealers, with full warranty. ---------------- That is a great idea and a great deal! I bought mine used off EBAY and have been more than pleased except many of the pegs were broken off the grills. I will eventually pay the ~$100 to get them replaced but that will push my purchase price higher than $500. As far as the warranty goes, I imagine it is okay but I haven't seen many individuals that have stated they ever needed to use that warranty. Have you?

Do you know how this unit compares to the ONKYO TX-SR701 ---------------- I haven't ever compared the two units side by side or with Klipsch speakers. Maybe there is someone here that can provide that information. I can tell you that the Denon is a very good match for my reference speakers. I replaced this unit with a Denon 3802 simply because it was a local pick-up at a good price. Let me know as soon as you can if you want to discuss further. Thanks, Dallas
  14. Colterphoto1, I still haven't received the payment you were sending. Since I need to get this sold I will have to assume you were not seriously wanting to buy my receiver. If anyone else is interested let me know today since it will be going to EBAY tomorrow. Thanks, Dallas

    RB-5 as rear

---------------- On 5/28/2005 10:24:17 AM Mavicator wrote: How do the RBs compare to the RSs as surrounds? I'm considering using RS for the L&R surrounds and a RB for the rear center on my 6.1 setup. ---------------- This is what I have heard on this forum and it makes sense to me. So, take it as an opinion based upon sensible reasoning rather than experience. I have not owned a set of RS speakers yet but it seems they would provide better surround sound simply because of the short distance I have between my speakers and the listening area. I am very impressed with the RB's as surrounds but I just don't think I have enough space behind my couch to make them as effective as they could be. So, if you have the space, the RBs will do great. If you don't have the space, then the RS's might be the better choice. Let me add about using an RB as a center, even if it is a rear center, I think the RC speakers are much better for this purpose. When I first got my RB5's I experimented with one as my front center and it wasn't as good as my RC3II. So, unless you already have one ready for duty, I would stick with an RC if everything else is the same. D

    RB-5 as rear

I couldn't agree more. I was contemplating getting some surrounds so I could possbly use the RB5's in aither a 7.1 setup or another stand alone 2 channel system. Regardless, I have liked my RBs since the first moment I bought them!

I tried more than one Synergy center and wasn't pleased with any of them. Actually, I found that the Reference centers more pleasingly matched the synergy mains. Who'd a thunk? It could be due to my room or other colorations from my application, but in any case I also made sure the center and sub were the strongest points. I'm 90/10 HT/music. ---------------- I would agree completely that the Reference center would be a better center, even if it is a Synergy setup. I have never tried the Synergy mains with the Reference center but I would still strongly suggest a Reference center. I had a Synergy center for about 3 weeks before I replaced it with an RC3II and the difference was astounding! The Synergy center was back to Best Buy within days (would have been hours but I am about 70 miles away from the closest one.) D

I haven't signed up yet. Any recommendations? C&S ---------------- Well, it is a pyramid scheme that could be your cup of tea or it could be a big waste of your time. Personally, I can tell you my best friend tried it and failed. He even sold his '64 Chevy pick-up just to get plane tickets to the big conference (that year I think it was in KC.) He had a strong support group and had one very successful Amway representative in the family but he couldn't do it. The reason could be that he, like me, would have a hard time selling ice water to a man dieing in the desert. Why is it a "pyramid scheme"? Well, your success isn't necessarily dependent upon how much you sell as it is how much those under you sell. Each person you bring into the pyramid you get a percentage of their sales so that the higher up the pyramid you are the more money you make. You could sell your butt off but if you never recruit more salemen then you will never experience the success you are leada to believe is possible. It's not about who you can convince to buy so much as it is who you can convince to sell. Get them to work their butt off for you and then you will be most successful. D

I have my RF3IIs set up as large and my center channel, RC3II as small. I suppose I could set my center as large as well since it is technically matched to the rest of my system. I will try that today and see if it makes a difference.
  21. The question I wonder, is the KSW-15 better than the RW-12. You can buy an RW-12 on-line for that amount. I haven't heard a KSW-15 before unless it was at Best Buy last year. If that was the case I am sure I didn't get a realistic impression of its capabilities anyway. D
  22. I shouldn't have held on to all of my stocks in early 2000, thinking I would be a millionaire by the end of the year.
