  1. Here's a couple of drummer jokes to add to this thread. Drummers, please don't take personal offense at these...they are just jokes... How can you tell if your stage is level? The drummer is drooling out of both sides of his mouth How can you tell when a drummer is at your door? The doorbell drags... What was the last thing the drummer said to his band before he was fired? Hey guys, how 'bout we try one of my songs.
  2. The Stark Raving Jams 3 CD set is the reunion album I was talking about. I don't have that set yet. A closer look at his discography on his website shows that they have done a couple of reunion albums in the last couple of years...this guy must live in the recording studion...
  3. His official website is www.philkeaggy.com. Most of his still in production albums are available there. Here is a listing of what I think to be his best instrumental albums. He also does a vast array of styles with vocals as well. He is a much better guitarist than a vocalist, IMHO...but his mastery still shows through on those albums as well. Check out "Crimson and Blue" or the album "Inseparable". These are about his best offerings as a vocalist with full band. Also, I miss typed on my first entry about this guy. He has 52 Solo albums plus about 4 or 5 with the band Glass Harp. A fan of his on the website lists his songs. By my count from this fans website, the number of songs released count is approx. 590 excluding repeats, remixes, rerecordings, reprises, radio edits and live versions. But she didn't exclude cover tunes, or songs Phil recorded but isn't credited as songwriter. Still, you got to wonder where that much ispiration comes from... Instrumental albums to check out: "220" (Electric guitar instrumental album) "On the Fly" (Just checked his website today, and this album is now in production again and available for order) "Acoustic Sketches" "Lights of Madrid"--(showing his true mastery, he delves here into Spanish/Flamenco style music) "Beyond Nature"--his most uniquely original recording--I fell in love with Keaggy's music when I heard this album "Majesty and Wonder" (Christmas album recorded with the London Philharmonic--superb Christmas album) One other thing about Keaggy. You always get your money's worth. Most of His instrumental albums clock in at better than 60 minutes, and some are as long as 70. Enjoy....
  4. I'll vouch for the 4.2's. They sound great. Like all speakers from the Kg line, they seem to be pretty forgiving on mid-fi electronics. Good luck with the auction.
  5. Yeah, he was good with Glass Harp too. The guys from Glass Harp have recently done a reunion album that I would love to pick up some time.
  6. Can I chime in twice in one week? I just completed my Phil Keaggy collection today. He released an album on the label Canis Major (now defunct) as a limited run, fan club only CD in 1997. Until today, it was the only one of Phil Keaggy's 52 solo albums that I did not have. It is entitled "On the Fly" It contains nearly 71 minutes of vintage Keaggy. This man is the most underrated guitarist in the world IMO... It is a eclectic mix of acoustic and electric guitar, with most of the material being played on a handmade "Parker Fly" guitar. Check out my new avatar. It is the album jacket of this CD...and yes, Phil is missing most of his ring finger on his right hand. It is a handicap that allows him to do some amazing things that no one else can do. Have I mentioned that I like Phil Keaggy's music...[H] Do your self a favor and track down some of his music. Occasionally a little hard to find, but always worth it. You all let me know if you want some specific suggestions of easier to find Keaggy material...
  7. I never touch the stuff...I'm afraid I'd like it...Then I'd drink too much...
  8. Rich Mullins--The World as Best as I Can Remember It Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 Two of the Late great Rich Mullins best albums. Great poetry in the lyrics. Great instrumentation. Copious use of Lap and Hammered dulcimer--you've never heard these instruments til you've heard Rich play them.
  9. With the price that Klipsch badges go for on ebay, I am suprised that someone hasn't ordered a gross or two from Klipsch Parts dept, and then list them individually on ebay. Their might be a small fortune to be made... Maybe I'll try...BwaHAHAHAHAHa...[]
  10. I have a pair of KG 2.2's for sale. They are light oak finish and about 8/10 cosmetically. For what they are, they do a great job. I used them for quite a while as surrounds in my HT set up, but have moved up to the floorstanding KG 4.2 in their place. $150 bucks plus shipping for the pair and they are yours... Private message me if you are interested....
  11. I run the C7 between some original Forte's, and have been pleased so far with the sound. I would love to try an academy, but at the approx. $600 dollar price point I am not sure I would here enough of a difference to make it worthwhile.
  12. Great minds must think alike...someone posted a scanned copy of this review this week on this very forum. Just go down the page a little you'll see it... Or click here... http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/606908/ShowPost.aspx Dan
  13. Thanks for the help guys. I saved the files into my pictures and opened them in a viewer program. Very readable then. Cool review. I've always said that the Original Forte was a very formidable speaker. I especially agree with author about the bass giving a better response than it even tests. The Forte is very clean, very low.
  14. If they make a forte 3, do they use the 2 as a model or the original? If i understand correctly, the 2 uses the tractrix horn, and the original uses the old exponential. Also, their is condisderable debate over whether the 15" passive or the 12" passive was a better choice in this cabinet. It would be interesting to see A Forte 3. It would be nice too if they created a center to match...maybe reintroduce the Academy?
  15. Hey Richard, you might want to rescan and repost. I would love to read that article, but at your current scan resolution, It is just unreadable on my monitor. Thanks
  16. My brand new Pioneer 1015tx has a "Loudness" control. It actually has two settings. Midnight Listening, and Loudness. Loudness does just what has been discussed above, and Midnight compresses the loud and soft parts of a movie sound track so that you aren't constantly turning the volume up and down while listening to movies when others in your house are trying to sleep....
  17. So, what you're saying is that you like your Forte's...[^o)] I really enjoy mine also. They are the first "real speakers" I ever owned. You will probably have to pry my fingers off of them when they drop me in my grave. My only complaint is that they were'nt created Bi-wireable. I would like to give that a try some time.
  18. HI and welcome to the forum. Stick with other speakers from the KG Line. If you are looking for bookshelfs for surrounds, you can't go wrong with the KG2.2 or the 2.5 (They are both the same speaker, just made in different years...) At one point in my HT experience I had a all KG line up. Pretty impressive sound for the price. KG's are the best bang for your buck speaker in the Klipsch line up. They sound great IMHO even with middle of the road electronics backing them. They seem to be more forgiving than some of the more "high end" Klipsch speakers. The matching center for your speakers is a KG2.2v or 2.5v (again virtually the same speaker)--the v simply means it is video shielded so that it can sit next to your CRT TV without distorting the picture. If you are interested, I am in the market to sell a pair of KG2.2's in a light oak finish. They are an 8/10 comsmetically. $150 plus shipping and they are yours...(nice pairs on ebay go for about $200) Private message me if you are interested.
  19. I'll put in a vote for the Pioneer 1015. It retails for less than 500 bucks, and is THX select 2 certified. Really nice unit...
  20. The one with the 275 bin is gone...snooze and lose
  21. I especially like the bloggers comment about the new bumper stickers that are sure to crop up. It will be the new mantra of every person asked to answer inane questions from reporters. DGSOS....one more acronym for us forum members to use when people ask questions that have been asked a thousand times before instead of search for a thread of the same topic...
  22. What is up with the woofer on that pair of forte's? It is mounted a couple inches higher than the woof on mine. I have never seen forte's with the rim of the woofer overlapping the midhorn....be careful before bidding.
  23. There are two KLF c7's on ebay as we speak. Both reasonably priced http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5810561250&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5810615076&fromMakeTrack=true The second one has a BIN of $275 which is a steal for that speaker. I bet it won't last the night...
  24. Ditto Daddy Dee He's the only one worth working for. It's been said that working for him doesn't provide the best wages, but the retirement plan is out of this world...[] I am employed full time as the Music and Worship Arts director at Jenison Bible Church
  25. Thanks guys for the quick replies. I am still messing aroung with placement. I checked the phase wire connections, and they were fine.
