  1. Garage Band is great. I use my old cranberry iMac for publishing the podcast. It is too slow to run the garageband program effectively. I agree. If you are using a Mac...use Garageband. It is better by far than the Magix program.
  2. I produce a podcast every week from our services here at the church. (Shameless plug....visit itunes click on podcasts...enter "The Word Will Stand" in the search box...don't listen to the early episodes...I have gotten much better at this as time has gone on...I am in the process of remixing all of the early episodes) Anyway, the first thing is to simply get set up with your recording equipment. Doesn't have to be fancy, but should be able to record in decent quality...otherwise people won't listen more than once. I use Magix Audio Cleaning Lab to clean and edit the files, and Magix Music Maker to mix it--add music clips, fade tracks etc...very simple user interface. The tricky part is posting the podcast. You will need somewhere on the world wide web where you have purchased storage space. I use Mac.com. 1 GB of space costs $99 dollars a year. You can probably find cheaper storage, but none as reliable... You get what you pay for. I tried several cheaper options, and they always had server issues that would make my podcast temporarily unavailable. If you don't know how to write in .xml language, the easiest way, bar none, to post your podcast is to use "Potion Factory" It is a $30 program, and is currently only available for Macs. You simply drag and drop your file into the program, add an Avatar for your program if you wish. Add keywords, descriptions etc, and Tell it where to publish it. The program adds all of the proper id3 tags, composes that correct xml language etc. with just a simple click of the publish button... For others to find your podcast, you will have to submit it to the itunes store. Simple process, but it takes a couple of weeks before it shows up in the podcast search. Here's a link to a bunch of other podcast search engines. They all help to get your podcast noticed http://www.masternewmedia.org/news/2005/05/20/where_to_submit_your_podcasts.htm One last thing. There is a new, free service on the web that will add an advanced hit counter to your podcast. Go to www.podtrac.com enter your feed url and other info, and it will track your podcast for you. It will tell you when, how (what browser), and where your podcast is being downloaded from. Hope this helps. I was totally green with this podcast stuff about 6 months ago, and totally taught myself using the web. Good luck.
  3. IN the PA world, Bogen is unaffectionately known as "Bogus" Even their semi decent stuff is just cheap knockoffs of other companies gear. I have mostly seen it used in PA's at campgrounds with it hooked up to a couple of 70volt megaphones so that they camp director can holler some announcement or two, or holler that dinners is ready in the mess hall...
  4. I think that $450 is a bit steep for a pair of KG's. At some point, I plan to pick up a pair of 4.2's or 5.2's, but not at that price point.
  5. These are local to me... I wish I had the room. That being said, I would be glad to help out a forum member and pick these up if you need me to. They are really cool looking. HMM...we have a big Klipsch Sub in my church, maybe I could talk to the deacons into upgrading our sanctuary mains...I would store them for them until we found a room in the church that did them justice...[A]
  6. ROTFL! What a hoot! This one is getting copied and sent to all my friends. Thanks for the laugh!
  7. I agree. The sub-12 has been, hands down, the best sonic improvement to my HT. I can't believe I thought that my MTX SW1 (10" and 100 watts) was sufficient. Wow, what a difference! I now am very comfortable with my Forte's set at small.
  8. With a center channel, there is no such thing as overkill....
  9. I am interested in the 4.2's and the Academy at the right price...Would love an academy, and have 4.2's doing surround duty, and would love to have them for rear centers. PM me with info. Thanks.
  10. Sony has a 400 disc changer for DVD's. They carry it at BB. The latest model has HDMI video output too...
  11. As usual, I'll chime in for a couple of songs from a different genre. How bout "Butterfly Kisses" --that inane song from Bob Carlisle that has been played to death at nearly every wedding I've attended in the last 3 years. Oh, and how bout "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me...I really like the song, but it still gets played to death on Christian Radio, country, soft rock radio...its everywhere, and its annoying...
  12. I also heard on the news today that the skyrocketing copper and nickel prices have made it so that it costs the US Mint 1.14 cents for every penny it makes and nearly 6 cents for every nickel.
  13. Hey Joe, I am in the same town as you, and pay $15 month for ATT DSL. I just did the test on my computer, and I came up with 552.72 Kbps (69.09 KBps) Not bad considering the price diff between comcast and att....

    Narnia

My family really enjoyed it. Yeah, the action was a little forced, but come-on its a children's story--Do we really want LOTR-esque orc beheadings and spearings in a children's movie? Quality family entertainment is awfully hard to find these days, and as a father of 4 kids under 10 years old I sincerely hope they make more of these movies. I found the british child actors believable and endearing...
  15. Hey guys Have any of you heard/viewed the new Narnia DVD out this week? I will probably pick it up this weekend. It has a DTS track, which is always a good thing. Just curious if any of you have watched it yet. The family and I loved it in the theater.
  16. I watched for the first time this season. My sister works in the same office as Mandisa. I don't watch now that she is gone. She was pretty good, and had a great testimony after Simon trashed her in her audition about being so large.
  17. The Sub-12 rocks. Tight, full bass. Occasionally at really high volumes it gets a little muddy, which, I think is caused by the large port tuning.
  18. The Sub12 is a great sub for the money, and you couldn't go wrong by filling in the rest of the channels with other Kg .2's. I have owned the 4.2's and the 2.2's and have been happy with both. The 2.2v is no slouch as a center channel.
  19. I am new to this thread, but you must have gotten a screamin deal cause the pertinent info posts have the price, tax, dealer everything removed. Somebody is not happy about the deal you got....
  20. It doesn't open in IE. Just like Itunes, it is its own program with access to the internet. Windows Media Player, and Real Player are two other programs that do much the same thing.
  21. Go to www.connect.com This is the easiest way to get music that is compatible with PSP. It is Sony's own music download site. You will need to download the connect player (similiar to apples itunes...) Then you can purchase music at .99 cents per song. Available in MP3, or Atrac. I have used it with my Sony Clie for a couple years. No problems.
  22. Thanks for the reviews. I am very close to pulling the trigger on Popbumpers crossovers for my Forte's and my C7. Must convince the spouse...the speakers already cost more than double all the furniture in the house....
  23. I have had 4.2's for a while, and I think they are great. They currently serve as surrounds in my HT....
  24. Wow, resurrecting a 2 year old thread...with a simple bump no less...what gives?
  25. He also plays Langeans guitars, which are hand made locally--Holland Michigan...They are a beautiful instrument.
