  1. WOW! I would love to hear a pair of those. It's hard enough to sell the wife on regular K-horns. I don't think she would ever go for those. Jeremy

    Go Bears

DA Bears!!!!!!! My buddy has 4 season tickets. I thought I was in for the game yesterday, but he sold them to someone from NOLA for $875 each. Then he wanted to come to my place to watch the game in 70" of HD. Toward the end of the game when the Bears were pulling away, and the crowd was going nuts, and the snow was flying........................... I think he regreted selling them. The I-65 Super Bowl should be pretty interesting! Jeremy
  3. Good Luck Dave. I hope all works out for you! Jeremy
  4. Count me in as another JBL fan. I've always liked the idea of speakers looking like furniture. JBL was good for that. I have never heard Sov's but i'm listening to some JBL 030's as I type. Looks like you have a great collection Pete. I would love to see it someday. Jeremy
  5. Thebes, you inspired me to zip the shrink-wrap on the Nirvana "Bleach" album i've been saving for about 12 years. I've listened to the CD about 100 times, but this virgin vinyl has a more gritty, emotional sound. Thanx for pushing me to the edge! Jeremy
  6. Thanx for the link, that was worth my time! Jeremy
  7. If you can't learn here, then you can't learn. This forum has a wealth of knowledge, but sometimes you have to wade through a lot of crap to get to it. I have also gained alot of knowledge at Audiokarma.org Good luck to you. [Y] Jeremy
  8. I'm with DJK on this one. I had this happen once. The diamond fell out of the stylus. It would just skate right over the record. That makes the most sense to me. If the anti-skate mechanisim was fine before, there is no reason to believe it is still not fine, unless something has broken. If it has a removeable headshell, then pull it off and get a magnifying glass to look at the stylus. If it has a hole in it, then the needle is gone. Good luck! Jeremy
  9. Thanx for the info Jack! It looks like the one in that 2nd link. That seems to make some sense with the model #125. He said it was built for the 125th anniversery of SABA. Hopefully I can pull this off soon. Bad week with the Holiday and all. Wish I could find some more info on the amp though. Jeremy
  10. I got a look at the amp, and tuner and it did not look like any Mac or Fisher stuff i have seen before. I think it had a SABA sticker on it. The guy told me it has 7 speakers in it. He said the speakers were very good. He told me that they made a similar model with a tv in it, and it was $50 cheaper when new. He claimed it had less speakers in it, so it was cheaper than the unit like his, with 7 speakers. The on/off switch is touchy and doesn't work all the time, but he claims the unit works. I think the hardwood alone is worth more than what he is asking. He is desperate to sell it, as he needs the room. He even offered to deliver it. My wife was not too thrilled with the whole idea of dragging this beast into her house. It is in fair shape. To me it is either worth flipping, of gutting it for the electronics and salvaging the hard wood. I don't want to push the delicate balance we currently have (she let's me get away with quite a bit [] ) If this is a screaming deal, she can be convinced. Thanx for the replies so far. Jeremy
  11. I've got a line on a 1961 SABA console unit. Tube tuner, tube amp, and turntable. It is made in Germany. The guy i'm talking to is the original owner, and bought it new in 1961 for $1051. He says it was built for SABA's 125th anniversery. It's about 6ft long and about 300 lbs. The price he is asking seems very fair to me. I have not had a chance to do any research yet. I just wanted to throw out a quick feeler to my forum buddies to see if anyone knows anything about it. Any help is appreciated. Thanx, Jeremy
  12. If for some reason you ever do want to sell them, i'm local. Always give a shout here 1st. Good luck with the Forte purchase! Jeremy
  13. Johnny Cash, "Folsom Prison Blues". I love that album. Wait, better yet don't open it. I have a well worn copy I will gladly trade you and you can spare the twins the grief! Jeremy
  14. I bought this when I was 19 and restored it from the ground up. 15 years later, it is still sitting in my garage. Unfortunaltely it does not get driven that much. At the time I bought it, I never gave it much thought, but it has been a terrific investment. Jeremy
  15. Stunning! I think they look better without the top hats. I would love to hear those. Jeremy
  16. I have been lusting after the Shanling CDT100. They are alot of $$$, but can be had for about a G, used if you keep your eyes peeled. They are beautiful to look at too. I believe Wardsweb (Luther) has one. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1170602465 Jeremy
  17. It's a nudie too. Good thing i'm not offended by that sort of thing! Jeremy
  18. Congrats George! Hey Mark, my BBX should be in your house today. It's on the truck for delivery. Jeremy
  19. I got a "hippie chicks rule" and a John Lennon that I don't remember what it says, and the Emerson quote. Jeremy
  20. I concur with these positive statements. I am in a similar situation and have been following closely. I am looking more along the lines of what Rick has done. I know of a pair of ratty Mark III's. The chassis' look like hell, so I've thought of aquiring them and building custom case, and refreshing the components. I am a hobbiest woodworker, and am always looking for projects. Then I would have the room to upgrade as my electrical skills evolve. I can read schematics and solder just fine, I just don't know anything about designing these circuts. I really appreciate the free advice being offered by the experts here. It says alot about guys like Craig and Mark that do this to make money, then turn around and offer that knowledge to DIY'ers for free. This is a great thread and I hope it continues. I just wanted to speak up to let you guys know that others are following along. Keep up the good work. Jeremy
  21. Fini, you're gonna get this thread locked by throwing around explatives like that. [] Jeremy
  22. Thanx for the heads up. I respect the opinion of Daddy Dee. It had run its course. That will probably free up some server space [] Jeremy Edit: now this thread is locked, does that mean we are not even supposed to talk about it?
  23. It was there a little while ago. Did someone finally go and post something unapprapo? Search turns up nothing. Jeremy
