  1. Set it to 120Hz. You won't harm your center speaker at all.
  2. My KG 3.5s that I'm using as surrounds are rated for a lower wattage than my Marantz receiver puts out. I've never worried about damaging them as it would take incredibly high sustained volume levels to do any damage to them. I agree with others who have recommended upgrading your center speaker before your surrounds. Since the center speaker produces 70%+ of the dialogue and sound from a sound mix it makes sense for that speaker to be as capable as possible.
  3. I believe only cosmetic differences. If you look at pictures of the new run of RF-7s it looks like the front motorboard has a textured wood finish instead of a matte black finish. I think the new ones look better than the original version.
  4. If you are able to set it to 125Hz I would set it there, but I don't think you'd honestly hear any difference between either the 125Hz or the 120Hz setting.
  5. I believe that the 23kHz is achieved with the newer titanium drivers. I would find it hard to believe that Klipsch decided to use titanium just for the fact that it has a higher rolloff point, but rather that the 23kHz upper end is simply a side benefit from using titanium. I really like the titanium diaphragms that I installed in my Fortes. I hear more detail, more 'sizzle' and smoother high frequency sounds compared to the original diaphgrams. I believe they do extend the frequency response to 23kHz also but that was not a deciding factor as to why I chose them.
  6. Something to consider is to use your B&K to power the woofers and a tube amp to power the tweeter.
  7. I think the speakers you've chosen will serve you very, very well. Try to have the front 3 speakers all at the same height if at all possible.
  8. I go back and forth. Right now I'm listening to Pink Floyd's Echoes and have my sub on. If I'm listening at loud levels I usually use my sub and have the crossover set at 120Hz to get a better impact from bass drums and to take the strain off my receiver.
  9. If you're using your PS3 and watching a Blu-Ray disc you should be hearing the HD audio formats which are mixed differently than the standard Dolby Digital and DTS tracks. I don't find it unusual that you're hearing what you're hearing. TrueHD, DTS-Master, etc have a much more detailed and dynamic sound to my ears. I love the new HD audio formats.
  10. Holy cow, you probably have more hair on your head than everyone else on that ship combined! []
  11. Good to hear! Having a matching and capable center speaker definitely does wonders for at speaker setup.
  12. The main difference is if you feel you're skilled enough to remove old crossover network components and re-solder them without ruining anything, or letting Bob build them for you as a plug-and-play installation. I personally let Bob do the dirty work and am glad I did. I'm not in the least handy with a soldering gun and it would have ended up costing me a lot more if I had attempted everything myself.
  13. Make sure your XBox is set to Linear PCM and not to Bitstream audio. Your receiver will let you choose from different sound formats when you're listening to different sources. You should be able to choose from Stereo, MultiChannel Stereo, Dolby Digital, Theater, etc. Which stereo/surround mode you're listening in will affect which speakers are active.
  14. Welcome to the forums Betty. Very sorry to hear about your husband. Over the past few years I've seen Cornwall IIs sell anywhere from $500-1000 depending on wood color and condition.
  15. Its an automatic grenade launcher. http://www.flickr.com/photos/firstarmydivisioneast/3340816885/
  16. NOAH!! I've been trying to get ahold of you regarding your Onkyo amp for sale. Send me a PM or email.
  17. is that a digital signal. Come on duder, if it was a digital signal it would be all 1s and 0s. [8-|]
  18. RB-61s would be a good speaker to start with and build on in the future. Once you decide to upgrade to 5.1 you can either use them as your surrounds and get larger floorstanding speakers for the front such as the RF-62 along with the RC-62 center, or you can keep them as your front mains and get the matching RC-62 center speaker and another pair of RB-61s or a pair of RS-42s for surrounds. A slight word of caution, most around here would agree that Sony + Klipsch isn't the greatest audio match. Sony's ES series seems to be a much better matchup however. This ES receiver at the Sony Outlet center might be one to consider and you could use your points on it: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665194261
  19. X marks the spot I guess? If I had to guess, I would imagine that your original post asked the question "I want to wall-mount my TV and am wondering how best to mount my RC-35 center channel on the wall as well?" How'd I do? []
  20. I wouldn't personally use a speaker intended to be a center channel speaker for surround duty. I'd give the nod to KSB 3.1s and in fact if I stumble across a good deal on a pair of 3.1s I want to use them as surround back speakers in my setup.
  21. Instead of having to switch inputs on both your TV and receiver, if you use HDMI for video and audio for all your devices and then run a single HDMI cable from your receiver to your TV, you'll only have to switch inputs on your receiver.
  22. Your receiver has 3 HDMI inputs, not outputs. You can run your XBox, PS3 and HD-DVD player all into your receiver using HDMI and use a single HDMI cable from your receiver to your TV. http://www.monoprice.com is the place to buy HDMI cables and you should be able to buy the 4 HDMI cables for about $30 including shipping. According to the manual for your Sony, it does accept Multi-Channel PCM over HDMI. What that means is that even though your receiver doesn't internally decode sound formats such as TrueHD, DTS-Master, etc, if you send your receiver a Linear PCM signal through HDMI you will still be hearing the latest sound formats and your XBox, PS3 and HD-DVD player will be transmitting the HD audio formats. For $30, it is well worth it. Generally picture quality will improve with HDMI over component as well. There's really no reason not to do it.
  23. You'll probably notice a slight difference between your current amplification and upgrading to the separates that you mentioned. Freshening up the crossover networks and upgrading to titanium diaphragms on your front speakers will make a greater impact (and improvement) in my opinion, however.
  24. I'll have to check into that fan. I only have about 2 inches of clearance on top of my 7001. Its significantly cooler than the Onkyo TX-SR805 I used to have, though, and I had the Onkyo sitting all by itself with only the ceiling several feet above it. Klorslug, if you need any setup help when you get your 7001 let me know and I'll be happy to help. I've enjoyed mine immensely.
  25. My front speakers are about 7 feet apart and I sit just over 10 feet away from them. The equilateral triangle is just a rule of thumb and isn't convenient in all instances. Do you have your speakers angled in towards your listening position or aiming straight ahead?
