  1. There's a couple Klipsch-based theaters that are within an hour's drive that I hope to check out some day.
  2. A guy where my brother used to work got fired and since he kind of knew it was coming placed a 'time bomb' in the computer networks. Ended up screwing up the entire computer system big-time. Luckily my brother was able to figure out how to fix it and also found that the time bomb was added to the computer system on the same day that the guy was warned that he might be fired. I don't know what the guy was charged with but I know he got jail time and a large fine.
  3. Contact BEC or DeanG on here for crossover network modifications.
  4. Try adjusting the crossover setting for the center speaker higher. What do you have it set to right now? Small, Large, 80Hz?
  5. What is it you're trying to accomplish with modifying them?
  6. Hmm, I wouldn't think an RC-35 would ever sound muffled in any sense of the term. Do you by chance have the negative and positive cables switched around that that speaker accidentally? The RC-35 is going to be a better match sonically than the RCX-4. Take a picture of your setup so we can see what you're working with as far as how high or low your RC-35 is sitting, etc.
  7. You would not need a crossover, you would be able to control it through your receiver like you said.
  8. Tung oil worked very well on my Forte and KGs.
  9. If you have enough room for them, F1s would be excellent especially at that price!
  10. Bill, over 5000 posts and you don't know how to post a pic?? []
  11. Hmm, that's news to me if that's the case. The Chorus I is ported, however with dual ports in front at the bottom. The Forte I uses a 12" rear passive radiator.
  12. Welcome to the forums! The C in the serial # indicate they were made in 1964. I believe the OW indicates Oiled Walnut. If you'd like to bring the speakers up to like new specs, contact DeanG or BEC (members of the forum). They can walk you through refurbishing the crossover network components.
  13. Hope you heal soon! "Warning: Klipsch speakers may be dangerous to your health"
  14. Thanks for all the responses! Its good to hear real-life experiences. I sit about 6 feet from the back wall. My KG 3.5s are just behind my sectional, sitting right next to the side walls, aimed at the main listening position. There's a couple KG 3.5 pairs that have been on eBay that I've been thinking about. They're medium oak just like the ones I have now so they'd match well both visually and sonically. I like the narrow cabinet of the 3.5, doesn't take up too much floor space. If I ever find a good deal on a KG floorstanding pair I'll definitely get them. I bought my current ones on eBay for $150 and the seller only was an hour away so I was able to pick them up.
  15. There's an Academy on eBay that's only $225 buy-it-now. Its 'cosmetically challenged' but it would get the job done and since its black it could probably be touched up pretty easily. http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-Center-Speaker-Academy-Black-23x11x9-5_W0QQitemZ170359576762QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVintage_Electronics_R2?hash=item27aa38d8ba&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|293%3A1|294%3A50
  16. I like that! I've used my Fortes for DJ'ing a couple dances and inevitably there's kids that are always messing around by the speakers and on the stage. Only takes one look for them to realize they're in serious trouble if they do anything stupid.
  17. When I bought our Mustang the seller had it up on eBay but it didn't meet his reserve. We worked out a deal off eBay and agreed to meet in Madison, Wisconsin to purchase the car. I brought $10,000 cash with me. We were going to meet at a McDonald's but decided to meet at a rundown gas station on the freeway instead. I wasn't nervous about the transaction until we were on the way home. I thought "Man, this guy could have hired someone to be waiting there and when I went to get the cash from our car the guy could have just bopped me over the head, took the cash and ran!" I did make him sign the title over and complete all the necessary paperwork before I gave him the cash, though, so I guess I still would have owned the car. The thing is the guy knew I had $10k in cash with me and it could have ended up pretty messy!
  18. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ele/1275878948.html Apparently these speakers (that originally sold for twice as much as I thought they did [] ) were made to listen to only musicals on them.
  19. $549 for a pair of RF-63s is a great deal!

  21. Before you start screwing into your speakers and greatly reducing their resale value I'd suggest setting them on top of your front mains first and see how they sound there. Also, is there enough rooom to set them on top of your entertainment center on the outer edges? Hard to tell from the pic.
  22. Not necessarily. When it comes to Klipsch, they have a lot of absolutely awesome two way speakers. I personally love the sound of a midrange horn.
  23. I'd stick with what Klipch recommends, 150Hz.
  24. They're not the biggest speaker Klipsch made but they keep up with some of the big dogs very easily. The rear passive radiator does make placement somewhat tricky. It takes some experimenting getting them situated just right where they blend with the room but once set up properly they are amazing speakers. They seem to be more forgiving as to what you use for amplification, which is good. They sound good with almost anything used as a receiver/amplifier so you won't have to spend tons of money swapping out amps until you find the perfect match. If you're patient you can find a pair in nice condition for around $300 which considering what you're getting is pretty much a no-brainer as to whether or not to buy them!
