  1. She cleaned up well tommyboy. Never understood people wanting pets only to confine them in terrible conditions or at the end of a chain[]
  2. Good Morning Hank, Go to the first page of this thread and click on Greg's name above the avatar. This will take you to Greg's profile. Under options click on Greg's website.
  3. Thebes has sent me some mighty fine music as well. A most generous forum member.
  4. As a matter of fact I am. Thanks for asking JB. Mr. RF....join us?
  5. Whats six years among friends[] Mobile Homeless....are you still at Wrightsville Beach? Only a few of us in this area.
  6. A very interesting and well documented thread. Good work Gary[Y]
  7. Man that sounds good....think I will try it myself. Ready JB? How about you Duke?
  8. No....the horn monos come with EL-34s but you can use KT-66, KT-77, KT-88, KT-90, or 6550s. I have 6550s in mine and they are my favorite so far. The horn monos are great for rolling tubes. Fritz is correct.....there is a QS amp that uses 8417s but its not the horn mono. Mike Sanders offered owners of those amps a conversion option.
  9. [Y] Wuzzzer The diet that has always worked for me is the Atkins Diet. I have been doing a variation of it since the 70s. The most annoying part of the diet is people telling me how bad the Atkins diet is for me. I usually ask them if they have read the books and reviewed the research and the answer is "no but meat, eggs, and cheese can't be good for you". The guy in the office next to mine has lost 25 pounds in 5 weeks and other friends have lost more. I am not that overweight at 6'1, 192 pounds so I use it to lose ten pounds once a year....the same 10 over and over[] The great part of the diet to me is I start losing my appetite after a few days and after the glycogen is burned off you get an incredible energy boost while my cholesterol and triglycerides improve!
  10. That seems to be a very good buy. You are a smart shopper fini[] Let us know how it sounds. Heck for $20 I may not wait for your report[^o)]
  11. This months Stereophile mag has an article by Michael Fremer who reports that Aquafina bottled water is purified by reverse osmosis and "thus is very pure". There is a link to click on to see why Aquafina should make a great and inexpensive record rinse!
  12. and a happy Friday back to you JB[D]
  13. That is bad news....a fine single malt at a reasonable price. My regular scotch for a long time[:S]
  14. I know times are hard....but Craig is living under a bridge? Maybe we can take up a collection[:^)]
  15. Glad he was careful removing the glass to clean the inside[:^)] "Tubes have no glass but may still work" Yikes!
  16. That sounds good winchester. I started early on the martinis and have yet to listen to the Quiksilver Horn Monos warm and waiting patiently in the next room. Just put the lamb on so maybe tunes by 8:00. The neighbor's wife loves to climb up in the Land Cruiser in a mini skirt just to give the old Tarheel a thrill. Thanks for not so small favors. Have a good night bud and be safe.
  17. Gotta love ths time of year in the Carolinas. 75 degrees and watching the Masters with a martini in hand and tending the coals. Nothing earthshattering here....beautiful lamb chops and fresh asparagus. Simple marinade of lite soy, fresh garlic, rosemary, and ground pepper. The asparagus with a drizzle of olive oil and sea salt. The yard is looking good and so is my neighbors wife!
  18. Winchester....congrats on your 500th post! I'll have to invite myself by the next time I'm in the Queen City to see all that new gear and have a scotch with you. If you ever get to the coast give me a ring.
  19. Beautiful weather here pesh. Yard work and two Absolut matinis with jalapeno stuffed olives on the patio. Yep...got our crops in. Everyone in these parts plant spring crops on good Friday. More of the same tommorrow[] Life is good.
  20. Atta' boy! Switched to Beams Choice to save a few bucks over the Maker's Mark. Lifes to short for that.
  21. I know thats right pesh....I had a sip when I was 15 and still remember it 45 years later. Hows the wife's garden going? Planted four heirloom tomatoes and 12 different herbs in terra cotta pots.
  22. Travis I checked out the Bookers at the store today. Yowee $51.95 a fifth. I am sure its tasty but I can get a half gallon of Makers Mark for that and after the third double wouln't know the difference[8-)] Thanks for the suggestion.....I'll save up.
  23. I would probably go with the Sony of those you listed. The 10" reels are way cool and that unit is nice looking. Making tapes especially compilations from cds and lps is fun and it gives the digital cd sound a little analog warmth. Good luck.
  24. Reel size 7" and 10" I believe for home decks though I have seen 5" reels. 3.75, 7.5, and 15 ips tape speed. I have two rebuilt decks both in daily use. The older one is a Teac 3300S I bought in 1973. The other a Teac X-10.
