  1. GODS and GENERALS; A history of the Civil War in the early days leading up to Gettysburg. Done as part 1 of 3 parts, I don't know if the other 2 parts will get done but this is worth watching.Thundering cannons, musket balls hitting bodies, great action, great acting. The type of movie where you may learn something, and enjoy yourself at the same time. Better than most of the REMAKE junk they call movies today. Robert Duval, Jeff Daniels, Steve Lang, good cast, Real story, done was class, worth your time.
  2. Tread lightly with the Bose talk, Are you looking to buy a new Acoustimass set-up?For that kind of money you could get some nice used Klipsch speakers, and a receiver too. Kg4's, some heresy's,pick-up a used sub, now your in business.I am not going to knock Bose, but you will pay top dollar for that product. Many choices on a receiver HK,Sony,Denon, always someone on the forum with one for sale.Scan to forum first before you resort to E-spay, you never know what you'll find on here.I have a Sony D1011 receiver, like new,$100.,you pay shipping or pick-up. Good Luck Noob.
  3. That Royal Albert Hall was a little disappointing as you stated, but if Live Who is what you want, try, The Who Live at Leeds. Great performance, original release was a little on the short side, but, the remastered disc adds more songs.Young guys, young band, a good look (listen) at a band on the move. They never reached the fame they deserved,Tommy was not their best work, yet, that's what most remember.Funny, I have become,"the old man", the Who used to sing about;"What a long strange trip it's been!"
  4. Good article,I couldn't agree more, been my point on a few posts here in the pasts, fell on deaf ears(eyes). How do we end up knocking Bose systems? Some people like them, not me, it's all they need,or want.
  5. Really can't find much new stuff that I like, so let's stay with Classic; Jerry Lee Lewis; The Sessions, recorded in London; reissued CD Done in 1972 the Killer is backed by a star studded line-up of guest musicians; Frankly, the Best Damn Band Jerry Lee ever played with, or will ever play with. What great covers of "Sea Cruise", "Memphis", "Bad Moon Rising", classic Killer. Trust Me, you have never heard the Killer sound so,well, Jerry Lee Lewis-ish, great piano playing, strong vocals, and just a touch of "wise guy". This is one reissue that was worth the wait. On Lemon Recordings, this guy was one of the main reasons rock became popular, and after listening this, you will know why.Good Job, a great addition to any music collection.
  6. I have dealt with Amazon and liked the results. I always buy new, so I can't comment on used. They have good prices on most new, and throw in free shipping, what's not to like?Amazon doesn't seem to be a breeding ground for scammers like E-spay seems to be. To this point, any transaction with Amazon, has been good, and I would recommend it to you.
  7. Bless It's Pointed Little Head; Jefferson Airplane, great set by Grace and co.
  8. He is not as good looking as you Bart, probably not as well hung, either.
  9. Jacksonbart, good answer. Between you and Duke Spinner you guys give good answers; I really like my 42" Panasonic, not as big as the others on here, but I can move it by myself if I have to. Really like concert DVD's, and they look good on it. What bugs me though, is wide screen, it only uses part of the screen, what a waste of screen.
  10. A CD player for your cd's is a better road to take than a do-it-all DvD.Buy a good cd player and you might have enough left to buy an inexpensive dvd player. The only downside is, 6 months from now, the new equipment is outdated by the "next big thing in audio/video".
  11. I don't feel it's a recording problem, if there is an issue, it's in the fact that expensive vinyl was used, and the buyer maybe disappointed in quality the of that sound. The songs don't change, the sound of the songs is what changed. I stated before; Exile is a raw, sort of in your face, type production, almost rude. No polish,no fluff, just whiskey soaked rock n' roll, some great songs, "Sweet Virginia","Shine a light","Tumblin' Dice", done by a great band.Nothing pretty about this album. I might suggest these instead,(vinyl or cd)"Sticky Fingers","It's only Rock n' Roll",or "Some Girls", I'll bet you'll like them better, may not. I think "Exile" sounds right to me, but what do I know, I'm old and probably half deaf anyway. Vinyl LP'S, Compact Discs, doesn't matter; Just Listen, and always remember; "It's Only Rock and Roll",( and I like it!)
  12. Exile on Main Street was (is) a very raw sounding disc, when it was recorded. It drifted away from studio overproduction. I believe it was the first album recorded on their mobile studio, and done in the basement of a house. It does not have the polished sound the other albums had. Stripped down, raw, and whiskey soaked rock n' roll, no other Stones album sounds that way. I own it on cd, and it sounds good to me. With those K-horns it should really sound great,Sorry. I really don't care for vinyl, but seems like alot of you guys do, and that's good too.It doesn't matter what you listen to vinyl, or disc, what matters is that you LISTEN.
  13. Whaaa...???? them Vinyl guys gonna get ...You ...[] So what else is new? 30+years of vinyl is enough for me.Can't believe people don't like the box set, but no matter what you talk about here, someone always disagrees with you. Too much background noise on vinyl for me, and I'm too old to play Disc Jockey every 15 to 20 minutes, flipping records to hear other side. Thanx for the warning, I've been beat up on here before, nothing new there.
  14. What an awesome display; great job, be proud!! What a joy it must be showing off that fine room and equipment. Your a lucky guy.
  15. Hang in there Joe, in the end it will all be worth it. I can see selling the truck, but the bike, that had to hurt. It seems crazy, and costly now, but 5 years from now you'll be laughing about it. When rent costs more than your monthly payment. The sooner you buy, the sooner you own it. You have to live somewhere, atleast you'll own your house, have an investment in something, not just collect a stack of paid rent receipts. Maybe, even get a new bike, somewhere down the road.I think maybe you are just lucky, enjoy the journey to home ownership, you'll be fine.
  16. Full House; the J. Giels Band great live show
  17. H2 code; HMA17-05380005/06 What was the production date of these speakers?
  18. Yup! You gotit right. I wore my vinyl out in high school. Than and FLO and Monster. Monster; There was a great Steppenwolf album, not many people mention that one. Is it on cd?
  19. I thought I was alone, too. It always irrated me when listening to Zep on lp to get any sound other then the band making music.Back ground static, a tic,a pop, normal stuff for the times. Then I finally get a cd player, first disc I buy,Zep box set, put it on, and nothing but music, clean music. I never really cared that Page tweaked his guitar, after all it was 25 years later, and better recording equipment, enabled him to sound the way he wanted to,but wasn't able to earlier due to equipment limitations. Anyway, Classic Led Zepplin Music redone Jimmy's way, that's enough for me. I can only speak about the box set, I didn't buy any other disc's. How did the single album copies come out, and who mixed those?
  20. DELBERT McCLINTON LIVE; recorded at Burgen Musicfest 2003, great sound and sonic quality.
  21. Who better than Page should remaster and remix his songs if that's what he choses to do. He knows best what he wants the songs to sound like. I think he did a great job and he nailed the sound. The 4 disc box set was $49.99 and worth every cent. The Page Mix sounds fine to me. It just made great music Greater. Jimmy Page put together a nice package of Zep's best songs, presented in a box, with booklet of good photo's, and nicely remastered discs, and a fair price. I've never heard a complaint about it. Even the second box set is of the same quality. I've never heard a better box set, no filler, all classic Zep. Just my opinion.
  22. Thank You for Audio Classics; and you, in a roundabout way, helped me decide to buy new leftover Heresy 2's. They had one set left, gave me a good price to take them. Same ballpark as the H2's from Klipsch on e-bay, brand new, can't wait to pick them up tomorrow. Long ride, but worth it considering I was looking for used speakers. I asked about speakers when I first came back to the forum, and you Sir, were the first to respond. I know you maybe alittle irrated with me, but let me say, Thank you, your points were taken, and your help appreciated. Don't sell your speakers, and am I still cheap? (a joke) Isn't this what the forum is all about, help, and information amongst members?
  23. I have the first box set; 4 discs; After playing it on that new fangled thing, a cd player, I sold all my LP's, never to spin a disc again. I thought they sounded great. A 2disc set soon followed with the songs that weren't on the first box set, and that is all the Zep I have. The Remastering sounds great to me, and no ticks, and pops like on LP's. If you have a multidisc player you can program them like original LP'S play list, so no need to buy more disc's you already have them plus some bonus songs. Awesome stuff. (No live stuff, all studio)
  24. I could be wrong, but; Don't you think the big stores (best buy; circuit city, etc.) are killing the market? Wives are also a big factor, they don't want big speakers in the rooms. They like those small little speaker systems that the Best Buys, and Walmarts sell. Small and inexpensive that's what they want. I think Klipsch or other brand larger speaker owners are in the minority on this one. I am lucky enough to have my own room for my stuff so I can have bigger speakers, some people aren't as lucky. So I guess my point would be; that Audio stores need customers that want their product, so they can remain in business. Seems to me that back in the late 70's there was an Audio Store on every corner, then the big stores started showing up, and it's been a down hill slide ever since, never mind the computer era, shop at home, never see, or hear what you buy. A picture and a price, and free shipping, there has to be more than that. Am I wrong about this?
  25. Purchased in 94' new KG4's; Going to pick-up my New H2's tomorrow, can't wait!! Frzinvt; really, THANK YOU for the address, and in the end, You kinda helped me decide to buy new (left over) H2's. They gave me a good deal to take the last set of H2's they had. Brand new, about the same price as the ones from Klipsch on E-bay. Thanks man. PEACE Bro.
