This imo is a no brainer!!! This is a huge upgrade from the stock drivers and horns!!! I have made lots of measurements, in fact I am in the middle of some measurements now. See the thread titled Bi amp and Tri amp in the mods section it is the first sticky...

Chris, Back from Dallas today and had time to measure, this is what I have from 1 meter. Xovers are 50 hz sub/woofer, 400 hz woofer/mid, and 6000 hz mid/tweeters. 12 db slope on the tweeters and 24 db slope on the others.

Schu, Here is the short of it now, I started out bi amping using an active xover (Xilica 4080) I was so encouraged by what I heard that I decided to tri amp. So now I am waiting on the third amp to arrive on Friday for the tweeters. Then the measuring begins and making adjustments, so far I have just put in the xovers, slopes, and delay's and the sound quality is quite a bit better than before the changes.

Ok just an update, I got everything connected and put in the xovers and slopes. WOW!!! Is about all I can say what a difference everything is clearer and the bass has much more authority!!! I am not using any filters yet and it already sounds better than before!!! Looking forward to measurements and adjustments!!! Huge shout out to Chris A. for all his help and insight!!!

Before I got into tubes I had an all Marantz system, a DC 300 amp with a 3250 pre. This sounded really good to me but the tubes are a lot better...

I would not do it at all, the vibrations caused by the speakers will affect the tubes for sure!!! It can help them to become microphonic and you don't want that...

I have been using a 2 wpc amp for years on my khorns and it will run you right out of the house if let it. I barely ever use more than 1 watt and reach levels that are more than enough... -
Ok so all the guys who are tri amping, what type amps are you using on your tweeters??? Name brand, how much power, tube or ss???

I am gonna try going with and active setup using a ss amp on the woofers and an SET amp on the mid/highs using the current passive xovers on them. Let me know what you have I don't know what I want for sure..

The Hersey's should be fine if you don't like a lot of bass, I would look at a vintage Scott or other tube amp.

I don't know where you are with this but, I use a pre-amp that uses a 6SN7 tube 4 of them to be exact. When it comes to the 6SN7 the Tung Sol Round Plates are the holy grail. With that in mind there is a much cheaper alternative and it is what I use. PM me for more info.

Well i talked with Mike at Radio X he isn't doing the mods any more can't find the parts. There is a guy on ebay that does them I just have to decide if I want to do it? I don't listen to a lot of FM but I do like the idea of have a better sounding tuner.

Well I was considering mine but they would about twice your budget, reason being is they are already completely modded. Backs are closed in completely they have Greg's tractrix horn upgrades and BMS 2" drivers custom built xovers and Fostex tweeters.
