There's one near by on Craigslist that seems to be a good price. We're these any good? Would be mostly for movies with my forte 2s. Small to medium sized room. Might try with 2 channel too.
  2. I know everyone here hates Bose, but my sister in law had the Soundlink and I've been pretty impressed for what it is. As much as I love Klipsch, I've been in unimpressed with the quality of their new products. Not saying their Bluetooth products wouldn't be good, but I have a pair of Bose computer speakers at work for 6 years now. The pair of klipsch I had at home barely lasted a year and they were hardly used unlike the ones at work which are used every day. http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/digital_music_systems/bluetooth_speakers/soundlink_color/index.jsp
  3. Oh it won't let you down. Everyone I know who's seen it and the old ones loved it. Basically the same formula. Lots of crazy cars, freaky people, action and a rawness that harks back to the original. I'm really not the type who likes action for action sake movies, but this one really did it for me. It was just that well done.
  4. That's a great movie. We saw it in the theater years ago. Not a Blu-Ray but we just saw the new Max Max in the theater. Probably the most visually stunning movie I've seen in forever. And apparently there was very little CG, most of the stunts were real. I think that's why I liked it so much. I usually tire quickly of the action movies these days with all the CG and camera shaking and zooming going on. Especially on something like transformers where you can't even tell what's going on. This movie just kept going and amazing me the whole way. It was beautifully done. They even had some killer "drum horns" in it.
  5. Man, if I wasn't broke I'd be all over this.
  6. Saw Iron and Wine twice at the Southside Ballroom, back when it was Palladium Ballroom. Excellent concerts! Believe they are at the Granada this year right? Have fun and happy birthday.
  7. Find a good HK 430 or similar. Perfect match for Heresys. I use one one my Forte IIs and Heresys in the past. Never get the volume knob close to half way. My AVRs never come close to the HK even with the extra watts they have.
  8. Forte II crossovers for sale, $80 + shipping. Replaced with Crites a few years ago.
  9. Amazon's quality is quite good. Hulu plus is not as good but most of what you'll watch on there is TV shows rather than movies. We use the Amazon fire stick for all our online streaming, works very well. The PS3 does a good job too. Our TiVo can also connect but it's more cumbersome. We were worried about access to cartoons for our girls but found there is a ton online. Amazon has some original kids series that they love. Their TV time is limited so it's more than enough for us. The only drawback I've really found is sports. I'm not a big sports watcher but I'd like to see more college football games and most are on ESPN. I can live with it though. I used to love the history channel, food TV, discovery, DIY, etc, but most of their programming has turned to crap now so I don't miss it. Really the only good educational TV is on PBS and that's free.
  10. We ditched the dish a couple of years ago. Got tired of them raising our rates every year for a bunch of crappy channels with nothing on. Got an antenna and TiVo for DVR and never looked back. If there is a cable show we must see we can stream through Hulu or Amazon prime. In all pay maybe $20 a month rather than $100. My understanding is the over the air signal is higher in quality because it's not compressed..
  11. If it's going to use something like apple airplay it's going to have to be wifi.
  12. I think the point behind these is to plug them in, take out your iPhone and play without all the amps, etc. They are basically high end bluetooth speakers with heritage style. They are not really marketing them to us heritage guys. Still wish they would come out with an updated extended heritage product though. Something similar to what a lot of y'all are building, cornscala, etc.
  13. I was thinking the same. There was talk about getting back to our (Klipsch's) roots. That's not what I see when I see updated HT speakers. If they don't blow away my Forte IIs that have been around for a few decades then I just don't get it. I'm not dissing the product, I'm sure it's a great move for Klipsch, just not what I was expecting from all the talk. Maybe my prediction of Forte 3s is waiting till tomorrow
  14. Our "biggest" launch in years.... I missed that when this thread started.
  15. That's pretty sweet, I wonder how good the DAC is?
  16. I've run my Heresys and Forte IIs off of a Denon and Onkyo AVR, neither came close to sounded as good as my vintage HK 430. And the 430 only cost me $50. That was for 2 ch listening of course. Vintage is great for Heritage. Tubes even better some say. If I were going to get a modern setup for 2 channel I would go with a specific stereo setup that's geared towards music. Maybe look at Emotiva, NAD???
  17. I say Heresys assuming you have a sub. Relatively cheap and easy to find. Forte II's sound better but unless you have room for a 3rd as a center you'll get a better match with 3 Heresys up front. This is assuming your looking mostly for HT, if you looking more for music get some Forte II's. I personally wouldn't get anything more than Heresys for surrounds, if that. Just not enough sound coming from the. Heresys work with your budget too.
  18. That was a great one. Although I must be older because my vintage games would be the original Zelda and Mario Bros. My really vintage games I grew up with would be from our Atari 2600, wood grain and all.
  19. I have to agree with Thaddeus, although we do have one good one here in Dallas, KXT 91.7 plays a wide range of music. No screaming DJs or commercials. It's our local Public Radio's sister "music" station. Both channels are the only 2 programed into my receiver. Every time I tune into a commercial top 40 station, I get blasted with this increase in volume and an annoying DJ screaming at me.
  20. I have the original crossovers for sale if you're looking to go that route.
  21. That's pretty sweet. I was just planning on doing some myself. Even experimented with different heights this weekend by setting them on some coffee table cubes we have. Always hated the look of the stock risers. Great work!
  22. I did the upgrade a few years ago. Went with Crites new crossovers and titanium tweeter diaphragms. Figured might as well go all the way. Contemplating the titanium mid ranges but that would much later in the future.
  23. I had mine repaired recently. HDMI just went out one day. Glad they extended the warranty but it took forever to get it fixed, over a month. Probably mostly due to the repair shop I had to use. This is the second Onkyo product I have owned and the second time I had to have one repaired under extended warranty. I'm gratefully they extended the warranty but will probably not buy one again.
