    K-77-M

    $100 - $125 typically it varies though.
  2. Just replace the diaphram or have it replaced it is cheaper and easier. That way you keep the original.
  3. ALK does not offer a Type B network better to just update the one you have with premium components.
  4. Klipsch will make them for you if you are willing to spend the $$$$ just ask Cory.
  5. The woofer was intentionally offset. The pooling liquid is most likely from heat over the years causing it to run down and pool there it was to protect the pleats from decaying. Looks like someone tried to widen the tweeter and midrange hole as they typically left the factory square cut. Those are made of fir plywood they were the bargain basement version Cornwall.
  6. Priced too high, that is Klipschorn money regardless of condition.
  7. Velodyne DD-15, DD-18 Servo subwoofer. Cleanest and deepest bass around. Velodyne has been making subwoofers far longer than SVS or any of the competitors. I use three in my all Heritage 9 channel HT.
  8. It won't outperform a fully horn loaded La Scala so I don't see the point. Not to mention it will throw your timbre' off.
  9. I don't let a computer algorithm determine how my system is supposed to sound. I use my good old ears. Especially when it tries to set things flat.
  10. This is absolutely so. The five independently bands of impact restoration are nice but a pair of 3BX-DS units one for each channel offers upward expansion and compression. They are going for silly money these days and I have no idea why.
  11. Your lucky if they still have the remote. These never officially sold in the US and only 2000 were ever made. You know you have one! 🙂
  12. These do not come up very often and typically sell for double the BIN price. Act fast if you want one. Lots of adjustability here with 5 independent bands of impact restoration as well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/DBX-5-BX-DS-Dynamic-computer-controlled-5band-dynamic-range-controller-dynami/392922493801?hash=item5b7c017369:g:COYAAOSwR5xfSHlw
  13. Heresy's or somesthing from the KG line are the only speakers that will acoustically blend seamlessly. Anything from the reference line will stick out like a sore thumb. If size is an issue and you can't work Heresy's KG2's or 2.2's would work well.
  14. The correct matching center is always the best choice.
  15. I bought a replacement diaphram on eBay and fixed my K-77M no problem. Doesn't sound any different than the other one. Simply Speakers in FL must have diaphrams for those you don't need a whole new tweeter body just replace the diaphram. You will need some soldering skills though but it is pretty easy.
  16. Nice, a bit high on the asking price. I would take them at $2500 no problem.
  17. So in essence the Grado X1+ is a top of the line Grado cartridge equivalent to the Gold Prestige version of today. I suppose if I am willing to spend a $100 on a P-Mount I should just pony up the additional $50 to bring the X1+ back to life since it is a top quality cartridge. I found a couple of places that offer it for around $135. Thanks for all the information and suggestions
  18. I did check the belt is still taught and springy it was not on the platen or the motor when I got it. I had to thread it on the platen and then the motor hub and it spun up with no issues I was doing some research and saw a guy used a Stanton 725E P-Mount on his and it sounded great I will look into the Ortofon Red. I used to have a really nice Denon DP-62L back in the heyday of vinyl. Thanks for the help. Not sure what this table sold for when new I am guessing it is from the mid to late 80's? Sold maybe $250 or so back then at a guess.
  19. So you can use the lesser model stylus versions (i.e. green, blue, black, etc.) on the X1+ as well but I assume not the same performance level. Interesting that it was only available in Europe since I think the lady was a model and her husband was an ambassador in Europe. I also realized I got a P-mount headshell with the TT-400U as well what is a decent P-Mount cartridge with stylus that I could try say in the $100 or so range or should I just pony up the $150 for the Grado Gold 1 replacement stylus. I got the turntable for $10 as an estate sale so my investment is low at this point but is this table even worth buying a $150 stylus for?
  20. Well I don't think I want to unmount and remount a new cartridge and align it when I don't even own a single record at this point. I was just hoping to find a replacement stylus for less than the $150 that I found on the net.
  21. Hello I just picked up a Yamaha TT-400U turntable on the cheap. I cleaned it up and it seems to function well but the Grado X1+ cartridge stylus was broken off by the previous owner. A quick internet search yielded some replacements but at $150, ouch! I did stumble across some sort of cross reference chart that showed the X1+ stylus is now the Gold 1? Anyone know where I might be able to source a cheaper replacement stylus. I assume the Grado X1+ was a good cartridge when it was released judging by the cost of the stylus. Any ideas on a cheaper route or should I give it up altogether and sell the thing. I gave up on LP's many years ago when I sold my collection of like 600 LP's and Technics SL-DL5 turntable.
  22. Better get an amp with a fan in it as it is hotter than the devil's armpit in Laredo. I grew up there.
  23. You can't just throw another woofer in and expect it to perform properly they need to have the same thiel/small parameters of the original woofers. If you add more efficiency then you throw the balance off between LF and HF. I would get the original reconed or search eBay for someone parting a pair out or post a WTB ad in Garage Sale maybe someone has an extra one sitting around.
  24. I have the ALK's in my mains and Dean's hot-rodded network in my center because I wanted the vocal focus to be greater on the center. I also use a K-43 versus a K-33 in the center to improve soundtrack intelligibility the cone is stiffer albeilt a small loss in bass response but what do I care with three Velodyne Servo's to back them up.
  25. You would not be able to discern which network was in which audibly at all.
