  1. I also have a 2910, bought after the release of the 3910. As I recall the 3910 has the ability to "upconvert" to a maximum of 1080P, the 2910 to a maximum of 1080I. Since my Phillips Plasma is 1080I, the 2910 was enough for me. I'm happy with my decision. Lou

    Mr. Brooks

I saw this in a theater when it was originally released. My wife, who doesn't like Costner, was blown away by this movie as I was. A definite must see. Lou
  3. I just did a quick Google search. These seem to be every where now for less than $200.00. Lou
  4. Banana's plug into the back (open hole) of the knurled knob on the binding post. Lou
  5. Yes, you reassign them through the set-up menu. Lou
  6. It's not the initial cost of the player, it's the cost of the media that you need to buy to support it. Choose the wrong one, your player goes obsolete, and your stuck with all those movies on media that's in the wrong format. And, your also stuck with a DVD player that is also obsolete. Look at the ElCassette, the BetaMax, and the LaserDisc. All old examples to be sure, but, IMO one of these formats will end up the same way. I'm sticking with my Denon DVD-3910 and upconverting to my Phillips 50" Plasma, Denon 1907 and Klipsch RF82. Lou
  7. I'm assuming you have an RC62 as your center. IMO, you should try switching the speakers around to see if the center channel speaker is gone or if it's the receiver. IOW, switch one of the RF62s to the center and put the RC62 in it's place on your receiver binding posts. If the center RF62 still cuts out it's the receiver, if the RC62 still cuts out it's the speaker. If it's the speaker, bring it back to your dealer. If it's the receiver, same advice. But, this way, you know. Lou
  8. Welcome. I have RF-82s and RC-62 and NO Sub. I know everyone here who wants to feel the "experience" says a sub is a must. This is not the case for me. The bass on the 82s is sufficient for me. IMO it is very strong actually. The mids are also well defined. In short, I like 'em a LOT. Lou
  9. Yep this whole war thing is ridicules, I have my Denon 2910 and upconvert and this works for me. Lou
  10. These guys give you a toll free phone number. http://www.acousticsounddesign.com/core/view_BigProduct.cfm?PID=529 Lou
  11. Ha, and so it begins!!! I called this morning to ask about my $100.00 rebate. The CS Rep that I spoke too said that since I didn't buy thru a retailer, I wasn't eligible for the rebate. When I protested, saying that it was offered to me, I didn't ask for it, when I signed up, and paid for my HD Box in advance, she admitted that the notes said that they had made a mistake, and discovered it last month. AND, there was nothing they could do about it. Is it just me or what???? Of course I argued with her, how can you sell me something and then change the terms? I only received an apology. I asked to speak to a supervisor, when she returned to the phone she told me that her supervisor authorized her to give me $50.00, when I said no, she raised it to $75.00. I still said no, and she said she could not go higher. Don't they get? This is not a negotiation, this is a mistake on their part, and they need to make it right. I finally spoke to the supervisor and got the same song and dance. He then offered to have this expedited up the chain, and promised to have someone call me. To DirectTV's credit, they did not lie about this mistake like Dish did, but heck, is this what it's going to be like. It's really not worth the aggravation. Lou
  12. Nothing fishy here. That's That's a GREAT deal. From what I've heard, most buyers of "B" stock units can't even find the cosmetic blemishes. BUY THEM!!! Lou
  13. I have a NAK CR-3A, and you I wouldn't part with it. It's the best for it's intended purpose. I don't use it much anymore, but when I want it, it's there. $100.00, a steal. Lou
  14. I had Dish for 13 years, I was one of their first customers. It has always been a Love/Hate relationship, but I was pretty happy with the service, and the improvements over the years were noticeable. All this came to an end in July. I moved in January, and re-upped with Dish after I was settled into my new house. I negotiated a rate for my new service, and received 2 validations from two different telephone associates of my rate. I kept copious notes with names and ID Nos. for every associate I spoke to. I pay by the year, and sent my check off for one years service. In July, I received a bill for the next month's service. I called them up and asked why? I spoke to a number of associates before being connected to a "supervisor". He looked over his version of my notes, and basically called me a liar, saying that there was no record of my calls and they could, under no circumstances, do the rate I was quoted 5 months earlier. As I said, I had notes, and I had broken everything down, but no go. He gave me his supervisor's phone number, and he promised to call me back the following day. He never called, of course, and I was never able to reach him again, nor was I able to reach his supervisor. I tried for two weeks to reach either person, with no luck. After the one week had passed I contacted DirectTV, negotiated a deal, and set up installation for one week out. I cancelled Dish, and explained why. DirectTV installed everything on time, and pulled out all of Dish's stuff. Dish has called me five times since asking why I quit them. I explained each time. As with Dish, DirectTV representatives said they do have access to a computer with internet capabilities, so I was not able to get a confirming email confirming my negotiated years rate, and I am still waiting for a $100.00 rebate for my HD Box. Both companies look pretty sleezy to me. As for operation, Dish menus are far easier to use. IMO, Dish's content is better also. I truly miss RAVE. Picture quality on HD, seems to be about the same. Lou
  15. Hi Amy I never said Klipsch was guilty of having faulty Customer Service, I was just responding to a post and replaying about CS in general. Thanks for posting about how great Klipsch is though. Lou
  16. According to our electrical experts here, you're wrong. Do a search and you'll see why.Lou
  17. Wise crack or not OB I tend to agree with you. Loud & Clear has 7 Klipsch systems according to his signature....and if this is his first request fo assistance....I think it should be honored. "You can't get the styrofoam without the kit" reminds me of a movie I can't recall the name of where the guy goes into the restaurant and ask for dry toast.....the waitress said we don't have dry toast....so he said "I will have a chicken salad sandwhich...toasted....and hold the lettuce, tomato, and chicken salad". Anyway.....for an economy that has become service driven.....we seem to forget the customer .....way too often. Just my take. I remember that scene very well, I luved it. It was Jack Nicholson in, I think, Five Easy Pieces. The scene was hilarious. But, you're exactly right, it just goes to prove that it's easier just to say no, than to try and please the customer. Customer Service, in a lot of industries, went out the window long ago. Lou
  18. There's been so much written here about this subject, and so many experts giving advice on this that it makes one's head spin. Fools biamping is what what the experts call it here. Well, as I have written before, I have a Denon 1907 and RF82s. I have them Fools biamped as you described above, and IMO, and this is just my opinion, it sounds better. The bass is stronger and the highs a little more clear. Not much, but enough so that I'm very happy I did this. Many of you will say that this is all in my head, OK, maybe it is, but I like it. The two outputs would have gone vacant anyway, so why not do this? But, if you do decide to biamp, don't forget to remove the jumping straps between the two sets of bind posts. Lou
  19. Look Here: http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/rf-7.aspx http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/rf-5.aspx http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/rf-35.aspx RF5 real wood, goes down lower, better horn (as stated above appears to be RF7 horn) Lou
  20. I've had a Panamax M5100 for about a year and have had no issues. Lou
  21. Timbre matching is the key here. Also sensitivity, and I notice that the RC62 is more sensitive the B2 so will play louder for the same given amount of power. Not sure how the RC52 or RC62 would do with the tweeter in the B2. You want the sides and center to work seamlessly together and sound the same. I have the RC62, but with RF82s for the mains and they sound great. BTW, I'm in Casa Grande, just down the road from you. Lou
  22. Well I'm the Fool. I've had my RF82s Fools BiAmped for about 5 months now on a Denon AVR1907. When I did it, it sounded stronger to me with more presence and a little more bass. It must be all in my head, but I'm leaving it as is. Lou
  23. I know this now- one computer, one operating system. Why does it seem that there is no way to successfully update an OS? The instructions did not give any inkling of the dangerous journey I was about to embark on. Wish I'd never seen the iPod, it's still in it's box. I'm taking the damned thing back. IMO, this is not the fault of the Macintosh, but operator error. I don't like to find fault, but it seems like you were trying to load all sorts of OSs at the same time on a machine of unknown vintage. In any computer system, updates are performed one at a time, and then the machine restarted to test for workability. Diagnostics are run to check for disk errors. I've been a Macintosh consultant for over 20 years and have never lost one bit information. I still have files on my machine dating back to the 80s. The Macintosh Operating System has always been the most elegant and user friendly system to work with, but as with anything do the wrong thing and you can get yourself into trouble. Lou
  24. The OS is hosed. I don't know what iMac you have so giving advice is a hit and miss thing. But, since erasing the hard drive is not an option, Get an external drive as someone above suggested, either FireWire if your machine supports it or USB. Start up from the Apple StartUp DVD. Format the new HD and load the latest OS on to your new drive. The latest OS BTW is 10.4.10. Restart your machine, it will startup from the disk that has a good OS on it. The other HD with the hosed OS will now be visible as another HD and your music should still be there. I think you can take it from there. BTW, I retired on 3/01/07, and as I sit here writing this on my PowerMac I thank my stars that I am not forced to use a PC any more in the office. I've loved the Mac since 1985. Lou
