  1. Sweet set-up. What type of amp are you using? It looks like tri-path to me, but I could be wrong...
  2. It's weird for me if I try to put them in with my glasses on, so I just take my glasses off, put the 'phones in and put my glasses on. No problem.
  3. Sounds like a good time. Snap some pix of your set up if you can. I'm a fan of Klipsch's "Big Bookshelves." I think the imaging is fantastic.
  4. In terms of real life, 720p/1080i (basically the same thing in real, usable terms) are what you will get from any satellite or cable HD service. 1080p is really only available en masse from a blu-ray player (which you will have with the PS3). Now, your current TV (I assume) is 720p/1080i. However, you will still see a nice improvement in the quality of your movies (especially in blu-ray form). Roger can probably attest to that with his Sony BPD-S550 blu-ray he got a while back, and his projector is "only" capable of outputting 720p. Did I help even a little?
  5. Give your son $1 for that response. Being one of the "youth" puts me in an odd position. I can't stand 90% of new music, if you can call it that. I've only just begun to explore all of the songs most of you are already sick of, so for me it's kind of exciting to find my "footing" musically speaking, and there is so much more to discover. There are a few new worth while bands/songs that come around every now and again, but anymore they seem to continue getting fewer and farther between.
  6. That script needs turned into a screenplay... Or at least a sticky for all of the newbies to read. []
  7. Someone actually was complaining about that during the free-listening session... Jay I think it was. I could not distinguish any timbre difference at all, although it was my first time to hear Khorns... and a Belle. lol I thought the three-channel concept was excellent, and really effectively filled in the gap.
  8. There are many, many reasons why this "modification" wouln't work the way you want it to. Simply put, the parts for the two speakers are not interchangeable. The engineers at Klipsch put many hours into making the specific parts for each speaker, and they aren't meant to be substituted for one another. Upgrading the crossovers may be possible, but with new speakers it shouldn't really be necessary.
  9. Becuase they're rear ported speakers. You need to take them out of that cabinet and place them far enough from the wall so they can breathe. If taking them out from the cabinet isn't an option, your going to need to purchase another set of reference bookshelves that are front ported ( RB-25- RB-35- RB75-RB-61 or RB-81). +1 WAF and excellent sound rarely mix, and this is one of those situations where they don't mesh. Get those bad boys up to ear level and have a listen.
  10. There has been a Sub10 at the Best Buy I work at in constant use since March of 2007, set to 70% gain running for 12 hours a day. No issue with that particular unit. That's not to say that it is impossible to have issues with them. I just haven't witnessed any.
  11. I agree... we want to see your set up, instead of resurrected four-year old threads. and as a matter of fact, lots of people use Khorns in a home theater environment. Just ask Formica or Bhendrix (Jubilees).
  12. If I had to guess, I would say probably not. Klipsch has invested considerable time and effort into their line of in-ears and they will probably not be expanding the line until they can be sure that their first few products can survive in a crowded marketplace. I certainly hope they do. I did my part with my Custom-3s and absolutely love them.
  13. I consider myself extremely helpful and very knowledgable in home audio in the mass-market store I work in. Are there many people like me in the job I'm in? Certainly not. 99.9% of big-box sales people haven't a clue about what they are selling or how it works.
  14. Has anyone read "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell? It goes into detail about the six degrees of separation, among other things, and applies to what's being discussed here. Everything IS indeed connected, and in many more ways than may seem obvious. As far as cables go, I am completely convinced that if you decide to make a hefty "investment" in your cables, you more than likely will hear a difference. The only caveat is whether that difference in real or percieved.
  15. That looks like a nice progression thus far, rblanshard. I would definitely agree that the sub needs upgrading, though. Keep up the good work.
  16. Alright, I can't vouch for this establishment personally, but it sounds as though this place is the ONE thing you absolutely MUST do if you enter the Chicago city limits. It's called "Hot Doug's" and it is apparently THE final word in the interpretation of the "Chicago Red Hot", among other things. Here is my favorite food critic Anthony Bourdain giving his two cents on the place: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ3Xin_P9kc (from 2:55 - 8:00) Fries fried in rendered duck fat. Yes. Duck fat.
  17. I would say that looks to be one of the better deals I have yet to see, Stringer.
  18. Wow, that is a BIG boy! what a cutie, too. Congratulations, Joe
  19. In My Time of Dying Bron-Yr-Aur Nobody's Fault But Mine When the Levee Breaks Stairway to Heaven (Greatest Rock and Roll song of all time, I can't make myself deny it just because it is overplayed!) Hey Hey What Can I Do The Song Remains The Same and #8.... Gallows Pole or Moby Dick.... I can't choose... In reality, this list could be substituted for any eight songs of theirs. They're all just that good.
  20. There are many, many choices for good stereo receivers. I happen to be partial to Harman Kardon and Denon, but there are many more good choices. Maybe these will point you in the right direction: http://harmankardon.com/product_detail.aspx?Region=USA&Country=US&Language=ENG&cat=REC∏=HK%203490&sType=C http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7897001&st=stereo+receiver&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1192232615058 Others will pipe up with other suggestions...
  21. I don't think that answers the OP's question very well... Stringer, It sounds to me that you are missing a receiver for your system. What you get Depends on if you want to do 5.1 (surround sound) eventually or if you plan just to stick with the two speakers. In the latter case, you want to find a stereo receiver. Welcome to the forums!
  22. Wow, that's some interesting soft-core klipsch porn there, gents. I'm afraid my introsucktion - er...introduction... was not nearly so romantic. I simply heard the Quintet III w/ sub10 set up at Best Buy. I was so very impressed. Little did I know just how far the rabbit hole went...
  23. Looks good for attracting passing interstellar craft... Also, it looks like that site is playing off of the "Woot!" theme... http://www.woot.com/
