  1. One question to consider is whether or not the high efficiency of the klipsch line up will mate well with what you plan on doing.if you could snag a couple of lascala top hats you might be pretty well off. You could also go the jubscala route with either of the available horns.
  2. No shipping insurance? Being in the hf section it will atleast be subject to less movement and vibration run the lf section. Try and glue in and out sides of the cabinet sand it down and clean it up. If you plan on dumping im sure someone here would snag it up. Looks like it could cause a problem it may however be suitable.
  3. .....im not sure who he is, neither do our children.
  4. 1st rf 7ii 2nd bose 901 3rd focus by dynaudio 4th kef iq9 5th jbl ......................
  5. APC. Good product actually has certifications that fuhrman and monster dont have, and not nearly as expensive.
  6. Welecome orb, it good to see another local klipsch nut. I love running my rf 5 as surronds I listen to alot of multi channel music as well. Now that I know sw has rf 7 II ill have to go listen to them.
  7. To those inclined to ask why, does it matter.. Stick around and youll get to know people and not worry about their bussiness. Mark, I woild second the outlaw rr2150, its that or the 3490 for the la scalas.
  8. Pretty sweet worm. I always thought worms and viruses that disguised themselves by using code from virus scanners were the most interesting.
  9. the high gain structure of the emotiva amps has always had me shy away with the klipsch speakers. Any audible hiss drives me absolutely bonkers, I hear the slight buzz and hiss from things that no one else hears, so for some of us it can be very bothersome.
  10. i really should get there for a peek. my keyboard is broke.kids soda laptops are ot a good math
  11. hey TK what are you going to do with your trachorns?
  12. They are a great speaker when powered properly, under powered and they will be thin in the low end. I use mine for surround duty.
  13. I aswell cannot offer a fair comparison, I can only speak of how well the RF 5's perform. As Stephen said there are some notable difference the made in Hope is nice the real wood veneer looks good aswell. As Oldenough noted the RF 5's were a noticeable step up over the RF 3's. The RF's sound great with extra power, I was disappointed with their 2 channel performance from and Onkyo 805 but when powered by the Aragon 2005, 2 channel was much better.
  14. I had a chance to hear the RF 82 Mk II's the other day at the local shop, sources where a Denon Blu Ray player, a DTS Master Audio Disc ran trhough an Onkyo TX NR 5007. I know alot depends on room placement and what not but IMO they don't sound nearly as good as the pre RF 82 models, both seemed very bass heavy to me. The MKIIs even more so, it kind of felt like I was at my in laws house listening to music, flabby fat BOOOOOOOM. They were awfully close to the wall so that doesn't help, they are however placed in a pretty large room, the volume was modest, I would be scared of what they sounded like turned up. I will wait for someone to offer a more suitable and in home demo before any conlcusion is arrived.
  15. I paid 800 for mine in great condition. there's another pair locally right now in great condition for 900. 1700 is crazy high IMO.
  16. The Pb13 U is almost 200lbs, and I hurt my back moving it myself. I'd like to get 1 more pb13 U but we'll see. I don't have it in a corner, i get better punch and definition placed along the long wall next to my left front, you reall don't need the boundary gain the corner provides. Right now i have it in the 20 Hz mode for added SPLs when running it with the La Scalas but the 15 Hz mode is actually the smoothest in my room. I don't have any sub EQ. Placement is difficult, trying to find the best location that goes with the room and other equipment. My only complaint with the PB 13 Ultra is that there are no High Gain inputs, which I would like so I could run them in stereo.
  17. if you decide on a PB13 U you will more than likely upset the wife, if you think the RC 64 looks big in a picture and bigger when you get it home, wait until you see a PB 13 U delivered to you. When the delivery guy showed up and I saw the box, I litterally was scared what the wife was going to due to me. I was telling myself "o sH*#" she's not going to let me keep this thing. I think the trick it to work up to larger speakers.
  18. They probably want higher profit margins, we'll see what happens to their quality.
  19. I know this has been covered before but there was no explanation to the "K55 Rattle" Thread posted a few years back. My issue is that both my k55 have a slight buzz at higher SPLs, I've read that this is a known issue with the black platic cover vibrating, when I press on the covering the buzz is eliminated, I've opened the driver and cleaned it all out, the diaphrams appear to be in good condition. When prying off the plastic cover is there any where I need to be extra careful not to damage under the black cover. After the cover is removed, what glue would be best suited for the task, plastic to metal? I've gather from the original thread from Trey to only glue around the edges. Thanks in advance guys.
  20. Yes you can use the y-adapter/splitter to achieve what you are setting out to do. The one issue you might have while running both speaker at the same time is that you may loose output gain from the preamp to the AMPS resulting in a not so full sound, depending on the output gain of the carver preamp you may or may not have a problem, you may have to turn the volume up a little more than usual to compensate for the lack of output gain when split. The other issue you might have to deal with is the input gain of each amplifier, this same issue applies as above, if either input gains on the amp are low the output gain of the preamp may cause additional problem. Also there will most likely be a difference in sound quality between the 2 speakers since amplifier design and specs are different, you will most likely have issue matching SPLs of the 2 speakers having one play louder than the other depending on the speaker effecienies as well as the output gain of each respective amplifier. I hope that all makes sense. The best option depending on your equipment is to use both A+B channels on a reciever , place speaker side by side (or on top in your case) and run both A and B channels together, this will allow you to match SPL and maintain the exact same amplifier specs. If you have multi channel amp you could use the y-splitter going into that one amp so amplifier design stays constant and then you only have to deal with being unable to match levels.
  21. I love floorstanders all the way around, I've got RF 5's and RS 7s as surrounds and I haven't powered the RS since I've placed the RF 5's as surrounds.
