  1. Someone needs to grab the Michael Doucet & Cajun Brew cd, I have been listening to that record since it came out. It has the two best versions of "Louie, Louie" & "Do You Want To Dance" ever recorded. Bar none. Those Richard Thompson cds need a new home as well, a cheap intro to one of the biggest talents out there. Think you know a lot about music but you don't have any Thompson in your collection? Monster guitarist & songwriter.
  2. I always wanted a pair of Forte IIs as i am a fan of the Traxtic horn but I was offered a very good deal on a set of 1s that I could not pass up. That plus a full Crites upgrade and I am a happy camper.
  3. Welcome aboard and thanks for the nice write up. I have my CW II's hooked up to a McIntosh setup and they sound great. I don't know how you were able to handle 10 watts running through those speakers, 1 watt and change is more than enough to drive me out of the room. Enjoy your CW 3's
  4. Much like easing out the end cap on the old classic Bic 19 cent pen. Just be gentle in doing so, more than a few folks have broken off a terminal trying to remove the cap to the binding post.
  5. I am glad you are enjoying your new Rotel amp. I own several Rotel amps & cdps and am very happy with all of them. I find their amps to be neutral to warm and the cd players to be spot on. I think Rotel is entry level audiophile and represents great bang for the buck. Several years back I bught a RA-12 Int Amp to use as a Pre and like you, had a hard time adjusting to the volume control. It is now paired with a SAE power amp. I have to turn the volume control on the Rotel to 50 to push 1/8th to 1/4 of a watt. It does take some time to get used to. In the meantime, enjoy the music.

    What I Got Today!

College was like high school with girls....I went to an all boys HS, a definate improvement.
  7. Yeah Jim, what are those cute little ones down front? Chorus? Fortes? Tough to tell from here.
  8. Here's two guys who both played guitar in Fairport Convention most people never heard of, but their contemporaries certainly have. Jerry Donahue a/k/a The Master of The Telecaster, of whom no less than a guitar legend Danny Gatton called: "the string-bending king of the planet". Martin Allcock, an awesome multi instrumentalist whose primary instrument is actually the bass, but who played keyboards and mandolin in Jethro Tull for 4 years and lead guitar in Fairport for 11 years. King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp said the following about Maart: "Maart is a much more versatile player than I ever was." The really scary thing is that these two wonderful guitar players aren't even viewed as the best guitarist to play in Fairport! That tiile is usually reserved for Richard Thompson.
  9. I saw him open (solo) for Taj Mahal, you could see that the talent was still there but his skills had diminished by that point. Old age is a cruel mistress.

    World Series

I don't have a dog in the fight but so far it has been a very entertaining series. I think the Astros & Indians have played some of the best baseball over the last two seasons, so I guess I am pulling for the Astros. Sorry I just can't bring myself to root for any team from LA, especially the Dodgers who deserted Brooklyn all those years ago & broke my father's heart.

    SORRY FOLKS

I thought The Confessional was open from 3-7 on Friday afternoons. No worries Big Stew, I don't think there is anyone in this country who has not been effected by the scourge of alcoholism, drug addiction or any other permutation of addiction. Your stories are a way of unburdeing yourself of your past transgressions. They allow us a peek into your soul and from where I stand, and on behalf of the forum, I say it is all good. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.

  13. Been a fan for a long time, excellent piano player with an easy baritone voice. played in many different genres, which is typical for a musician out of New Orleans. Check out his "Live From Austin, Texas" cd, covers a lot of bases. RIP Fats.
  14. I haven't played that tune in nearly 30 years. Steeleye's first album is a touchstone for English/Irish Folk Rock.

  17. I have a Bello rack with glass shelves. Smart design with openings in the back for threading cables. Keeps things fairly tidy. I also have the matching TV stand for the BRDP, cable box, remote caddy, etc. No complaints about function or build quality. Sorry can't seem to attach photo from web.
  18. Neither I am afraid but I did like Tony Levin's playing with Peter Gabriel and of course on Richard Thompson's album, "Amnesia."
  19. Great photo of upstate NY there , Dirtmudd. I went to New Paltz in Ulster County so that look is familiar to me. Barely any color change here in the city or out on the East End.
  20. Well my buddy solved his own problem by buying 2 of The Threes, he is now streaming Spotify and says the sound is tremendous. He was already the owner of a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers I had talked him into. So he was expecting great sound. Another happy Klipsch customer. My work here is done. I've got to start charging Klipsch commissions for all of the equipment I have sold for them.

    NFL 2017

    Sorry, #stillnotwatchingnfl.
  22. Sweet looking rig, enjoy those new Cornwalls and welcome to the forum.
  23. So I talked a buddy of mine into buying The Three as his wife has banned big old stereo equipment from her brand new living room. He and his old school stereo will be banished to a loft with the obligatory mega TV. His kids stream via Spotify, which the excellent review posted in the Klipsch Announcements forum advocated for use with The Three. My question is, it states in the review that additional The Three units can be placed throughout the house and linked together, can The Three also link with The One? Are there other Klipsch Wireless speakers that could be used in concert with The Three? Thanks in advance for any help, I am a bit out of my league with this whole new fangled contraption.

    NFL 2017

Well, the last place NY Giants embarrassed themselves again on national tv last night. Their offensive line truly was offensive, resembling a sieve and affording Eli no time to scan the field. Big drop by Brandon Marshall and a stupid penalty on Evan Engram after his first NFL touchdown. The Giants D was respectable as usual, can't blame them for the backbreaking special teams td by the Lions. BTW what was with those ugly uniforms on the Lions? they have one of the classiest uniforms in the NFL and they screwed it up. Yuck.
  25. I haven't seen Hudson Valley Noah post on here for a while. Anybody heard from him of late?
