  1. The ALK crossovers should do the trick, the AA doesn't have a bandpass on the midrange. I had a pair of Lascala's with ALK's and Fastracs, with the ALK's I ran the midrange on taps 0-4. If you have the k-55m you may want to attenuate a bit more. Dave told me, the Fastrac Lascala has 1-2db less output than the K-400 due to its size. Craig 73
  2. You need to attenuate the mid, no question. Combo #1 will work fine with the correct horn, it will get extremely beemy with a rectangular Tractrix, the Eliptrac would be a better choice for this. Combo #2 would not work well, the D405 will not effectively make it to 6k, you would need to cross around 4-4.5k Combo #3 is a tried and true combination, no arguement there. I am using a B&C DE-85tn in a 2-way combo with daves Eliptrac, couldn't be happier, really doesn't need a tweeter. Dave also built me a 2-way 1st order adjustable crossover that sounds great IMO, simple an effective. Craig 73
  3. ALK universal will work nicely. It works, but you're better off with the k-55's. Going from the 4592ND to the D405 is like jumping out of a Ferrari into a Kia. Its no surprise that a JBL is a quality driver, whether it is a proper match, thats another story. The JBL is an 8 ohmm driver. Craig 73
  4. I just thought I'd point out that in the Klipsch Klipschorn Specs page, it clearly states that the Khorn midrange driver is a 2" driver. Should be no problem to put a 2" BMS 4592 on the Khorn mid horn. http://www.klipsch.com/klipschorn-floorstanding-speaker MID FREQUENCY HORN: Exponential Horn MIDRANGE: K-55-X 2" (5.08cm) Phenolic diaphragm compression driver Greg I hope you are joking. It says the K-55x has a 2" Phenolic diaphragm. Craig 73
  5. I would think it is more aesthetics than anything else. Craig at NOS used them on top of his Lascala's for years. Craig 73
  6. I'll bet they sound great with that MC-275 Craig 73
  7. Those look fantastic. Nice job. Craig 73
  8. I love the top cab. I have the same horns, but I had dave build them. obviously not a attrative as yours, but sound excellent. I am using the B&C De-85 driver 2-way, started off -way with the JBL-2404, but this sounded better without the tweeter. The speakers are Fastlane's Prophile 41.
  9. The info is listed here. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/124302.aspx?PageIndex=1 Craig 73
  10. If you are into DIY, check this out. http://mysite.verizon.net/res12il11/id114.html I have several of these, they work fantastic, there is also a video lin on the page.
  11. Let me know I'll watch the booth for you.Craig 73
  12. I liked my old Pioneer PL-510 and my Micro Seiki but will never go back to the dinasaurs. I picked up a new project recently and the performance is far superior. Craig
  13. Gothover just spend several days investigating the basket vibrations in the Eminence 15a driver and found the beams were not at fault. The source of the ringing was a flexing motor mount. I doubt the spider will be audible. The dynamat is a fine idea, won't hurt a thing, but will only help if used in the apropriate area's. Craig 73
  14. Good call, Emotiva has been great so far. Craig 73
  15. I would send the woofer to orange county speaker to get repaired, will be good as new. Craig 73
  16. Behringer reviews seem to be very hit and miss, I have decided to steer clear of the INUKES. Craig 73
  17. I love my Quadscala. BTW Justin, it was great vsiting with you and alot of fun rocking out at your new place. Seems to me Justins Cornscala's with the Eliptrac was by far the cleanest souning I have heard to date. I am having Dave now build me a pair of Eliptrac's for my Quadscala because of this audition. I will be using the B&C de85tn from ALK as well. Craig 73
  18. Looking great, Lascala's suck to restore, but sure are beautiful. No mods, just bone stock? Crossovers, horns, bracing, DJK port mod etc? Craig 73
  19. PL premium is great for internal repairs, however we do need more info, or pictures. If you are split at the seems, you should use wood glue and clamps, then I would seal the insides with PL. Yes, I would scrape of as much of the old glue as possible. Craig 73
  20. The Cornscala network is all you need for Cornwall/Cornscala. I do like the AP12/ES networks, but prefer the simple network in the Cornwalls. Craig 73
  21. Yep, thats the Audio Nirvana. I actually gave Dave those drivers as a gift for helping be with one of my restorations. Glad to see them get put to good use. Craig 73
  22. The Universal is a good compromise, it works well for all kinds of music and amplifiers. I have used several of these crossovers as well, and I always go back to my ALK's. ALK builds quality, his networks hold their value, and his work is top notch. Craig 73
  23. This is true, however another main reason for the ratings is simply the power handling capabilities at lower frequencies. Many of the horn drivers rated cutoff at 500-700hz are done so they can advertised to handle 250 or 500 watts. In home use these drivers may not see more than 15-20 watts peak. If you are going to use a driver outside of it's rated specs, testing becomes crucial. Craig 73
