  1. I have a friend trying to sell 2 of these amps and he's looking for $250 a piece. I know nothing about the Adcoms in terms of performance, quality or value so those with experience please chime in. These are not the 555 2's, just the 555's
  2. How about the outside cabinet protectors that go in between the corners like on the picture? I looked on parts express and did some searches but haven't found anything.
  3. I'll have to take a look at it but what I've found is that they all have their issues, Chrome is faster on my 5 year old laptop with a 2 core 2g Celeron and 4g of ram but I can't get Chrome to work with Acrobat X to convert web pages to PDF's which works great in Explorer. I just got done building a new machine with an 8 core 4g processor and 8g ram and Explorer is faster on it as well as my office tower which is a core i7 so all I've found is that you can't have it all.

How about Marion Barry? How about a president, or all of congress, we have many jerk offs to go around so take your pick.
  5. Thanks Chad, that's the quickest answer I've every gotten on a post!
  6. Disclaimer: This is just for personal use on my Klipsch speakers. I'm in the process of refurbishing a set of KP250's and I want to do something a little different with the metal grills and I need a large stencil or a high resolution logo file so I can have one made to spray the logo on the grills.
  7. The Heresy is actually tuned lower than the KP250 and I'm going to run the numbers on the set I'm keeping to see how the woofer would perform if I sealed up the ports because the added db is not really a factor. I'll start a rebuild thread when they're going back together but I just got them stripped down yesterday and will hopefully get them sprayed this week. I actually need to try and find a logo stencil for what I want to do with the grills so I'm going to post it and see if anyone might have on.
  8. I've never seen any non ported either, I'll have to do some looking. Thanks for the link Carl.
  9. I know where you can get the same rig for $450.........................My house in N.E. Ohio, it's posted along with other equipment in the garage sale section.
  10. And out of the darkness there comes a light. Dean, you need to post that history in a new thread because those of us that weren't around from when all of that began would appreciate the information regarding the big picture and how it all unfolded, or at least I did even though I had read a lot of those threads and knew some of it. Everyone mentioned in the history have helped me at one time or another in the past few years along with many others; some directly and some indirectly including you and Greg and I really have and will continue to appreciate this forum and it's members for all of that help. I do however have a couple of important announcements to make; 1. There will be a "Make Dean Smile More" intervention in Dayton next Wednesday at 3:00 PM please bring a covered dish and any crossovers that are in need of repair. 2. Immediately following the intervention will be a organized smart as& whipping that will go on until all sarcasm has been eliminated. Confession time, when people come over to the house and listen to the split Cornscala's I tell them that I cut the woofer frames from a solid hunk of steel with nothing more than a Dremel with a special tip (that I invented) and the flared horns were made from scraps I had left from a piano I built, and now everyone is using them and that I was forced to build my own networks because I just wasn't happy with the crap that was being produced by other companies and I had to smuggle the special wood in from Russia for the cabinet and I cut everything with a handsaw. Happy Saturday!
  11. Thanks again Dean. I only want to do these one time so I would rather replace anything that could be or may go bad weather or not there's an improvement I like having the peace of mind. $70 or $80 really doesn't make or break the deal for me so I would rather you just tell me what you would replace them with and I'm fine with that.
  12. Thanks again for your help and I'll post pics when I have them done.
  13. I have installed many of these units over the years in homes that I've built and how well they work has to do with a few things, first I will say that I don't have much use for the electric ones based on the initial investment and payback time vs. purchasing a super insulated water heater but with gas I think it's something to consider and how happy you are with the installation has to do with the initial sizing and placement of the unit based on what your expectations are. If a unit isn't properly sized for the normal demand of the home and occupants you won't be happy because you'll run out of hot water, just like any undersized water heater, so proper planning is the key along with placement in relation to all of the hot water supplies but it doesn't take longer to get hot water or not anything that will be noticed by the minimal time to trigger the unit on. If you have a situation where you have extremely long runs and this applies to any hot water supply, you can look at installing additional loops in the system or installing a quick circulation pump in line at the fixture that will pump the water back into your water system until it senses hot water. I will tell you that regardless of the unit you're installing, if you don't have conditioned water you're asking for problems (also applies to any other water heater or plumbing fixture) as these units will clog up with mineral deposits quickly so make sure your water source is sound first. Hope this helps.
  14. Thanks guys! I just ordered the caps and went with the dayton's and barrier strips to clean up the wiring. I'll leave the coils alone but they had electrical tape (it was falling off) wrapped around them so should I wrap them again? I tried to find the marking indicators for the barrier strips (+, -, tweeter, woofer...........) couldn't find any and I know it doesn't matter when I put it back in the cabinet but I think it looks a lot better with them on, any suggestions? Last question would be, is there any reason to replace the auto transformer? Thanks again, just doing this as part of the restoration.
  15. I'll give this a bump. I can't believe that I haven't gotten as much as an opinion, offer anything considering the variety of items I have. Little help guys. Should I separate the listing?
  16. Happy Birthday Carl sorry a day late but I just caught the thread this morning.
  17. Excellent Job! I have a set of Cornwall 2's that need the same treatment and I hope I do as well. I saw your pics of the inside and the damping material that was originally installed and my 2's had none so can you tell me specifically which pieces on the inside of the cabinet had that applied?
  18. Add to the list of things I may be open to trading for would be a solid surround pre amp or receiver anything 5.1 or more.
  19. I posted some items in the garage section that I need to get rid of and 1 set of the 250's is on the list and if I can find someone that wants the 115's with them then I'll just start with some new drivers but we'll have to see because I have no clue what the market is on the items I'm looking to move.
  20. Click your user name, then content. Thanks! I would still prefer that it was on the home page......................I call for a vote!
  21. Great speakers and the only reason I let them go was I had one of my best friends that really wanted them because if not for him, they would still be in my posession.
  22. The time has come to sell or trade some equipment that has been laying around and replace it with some things I need. A couple items can be shipped easily but others will probably have to be sold locally and I'm just not sure what fair pricing is on a couple of items. Turntable: Technics SL1200 MK2 with Shure M97xE Purchased New I installed the cartridge, set the table up, spun a couple of albums and then stuck it on the shelf and it's been there ever since so this is "Like New" condition to say the least. $700 plus shipping Speakers: 1 set of KP250's Original drivers and crossovers they sound very good, have handles, pole mounts and all the plastic corners and trim are in very good shape as are the boxes but they could use a coat of paint to make them excellent. I just have no use for 2 sets of these which is why I'm selling one of them.$325 for the 250's and $450 for the 250's with the 115's, plus shipping Speakers: 1 set of KP115's with poles for the 250's, original driver and crossover and like the 250's could use a coat of paint, but are not gouged up at all. I've made it clear that I don't like the sound of these but instead of me using the drivers for another project I would package them up with the 250's if that would be a better way to sell them. Behringer DCX 2496 Pro Crossover: NEW, just like the turntable it was opened up, plugged in then stuck on the shelf and I've never gotten into an active set up and don't see me having the time to get into it so it needs to go to someone who will. $260, plus shipping 2 Eminence KappaLite 3015's: NEW, purchased for a project that I didn't get around to and I'm not going to do it. Never installed or hooked up to anything. $375 1 Crites CT125: NEW, I purchased this from Rudy and didn't use it so it's just been on the shelf too. $60 plus shipping 1 Beyma CP25: NEW, Extra that was never used for a center project. $100 plus shipping Various Mono Price cables NEW 2 50' RCA Audio 1 75' RCA Audio 1 50' Composite Video 1 50' 3.5mm Stereo I'm located in NE Ohio and would be willing to ship anything that is easily shipped and I'm just looking for fair pricing or trade on any of these items. Here's a list of what I'm looking for. 1. Amp for my SPUD 2. Amp for a Tuba build 3. New crossovers for Cornwall 2's Could entertain other items.
  23. I liked the layout the way it was but that doesn't mean that all changes would be bad and I think if the focus is placed on the best search criteria because IMHO, that wasn't great before and it's still lacking a lot and as stated by others, there are many broken links and I've ended up making a few posts that I'm sure the information has been stated in past posts. I'll go ahead and ask a question about the current organization of the site..........................does a list still exist of all the threads that I'm active in? I've been looking and that was something I used all of the time.
