Hi and a big welcome! BS speakers can be phenomenal and you don't have to leap over the cliff without a parachute. Pick a budget $300-$500 and start your search, a pair of RB5's for 200-300, a steal on a set of heresy's or KP250's 200-400, if you find a pair of RB75's and they are within your budget, great and buy them and listen and then you will choose your path from there. Personally, a cheap pair of 5's will give you a good listen to Klipsch sound, not all the different variants, but a certain sound and attention to detail, that can be found throughout many of the speakers, from the first to current offerings. If you stick to a budget and get some guidance through the forum regarding "fair price", if you don't like what you hear, no harm and no foul and you can sell them and move on. There are many passionate people on the forum that will try and funnel you down a certain path, but it's your path and your experience so do it your way and life will be good. I'm also in Ohio, Canton area and you are more than welcome to listen to anything I have. Again, welcome.
  4. Carl told me about that amp a while ago but I couldn't find a lot of reviews regarding longevity, but I have to consider yours when making this decision. Part of this equation is reliability, I can buy the inuke and the Bash 300watt for the same price of $150, but if more money (within reason) buys me better reliability, then I'm absolutely willing to do that. I would rather spend $300 for longevity then think I got a deal at $150 which is why I thought the thread was relevant, since there have been many horned sub builds on the forum for at least 4 years.
  5. Right now, that's the same price as the inuke at $150.00. Where did you mount that? Cut into the box or did you build a housing for it externally?
  6. FYI, if it's not already been covered. The F-20 build lays out as good using 5'x5' sheets of 18mm Baltic Birch and it might have less waste.
  7. Got it, skimmed over that and read post 2.
  8. I need to hear that system, your bass must be unbelievable with that set up.
  9. I'm not going to be running 2, just building 2 simultaneously, building one for a friend. what are you powering yours with?
  10. Gathering up all the parts and materials to build 2 F-20's, BB plywood is in the shop, ordered the Dayton drivers, T-Bolts and connectors today and I need to get the amps. I have an inuke 1000 that was purchased for my spud and works fine for that and they can be had for $150, all over the place right now, but is there a plate amp application that might be a better choice, or another amp? Just looking for input from all of you that have built this or other horned subs. I'm building one of them for a friend and the idea of a plate amp for him really works from a simplicity standpoint, one less piece of equipment to program (dials and a phase switch) and he would have the ability to go into the plate amp and out to his RF 35's, if he choose to use the amp for his crossover to the 35's. A $100, one way or another, really doesn't matter in the scope of this project, but getting the amps ordered does, because I want to knock these out over the holidays, which shouldn't be any problem if I have all the parts. I'm not looking for theory's, just practical input from the numerous builds and applications from this group. Thanks in advance guys!

    Atmos News

i think you mean 7.2.6. Mains then subs then atmos. 6 subs wouldn't be all that unusual around here. Not what I meant, but at some point I will be up to 6 subs.
  12. Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. Restocked on BB plywood yesterday so it's decision time.
  13. If I'm building one of them and my max width on the HT is 32", you've done both multiple times, so which one would you do? Strictly from a performance standpoint.
  14. Beautiful sunny morning in N.E. Ohio and the DD coffee is flowing. Good Morning Klipsch Nation!
  15. Quick question (I'm sure it's buried multiple times in various threads) Tuba HT (32" max.) or THTLP with placement in a front corner of the sound stage for either.
  16. I will be watching this one for sure because I'm in the same boat with some parts and gear.
  17. I thought that article was pretty good and I assumed for a long time that "remastered" meant that I was going to buy something that had originally been mixed poorly in the studio and that they cleaning up the original tracks and mixed everything into a better recording, but that bit me in the arse more times than not.

    Why horns.

I keep reading these threads about horn subs and seeing some great builds and I'm getting the itch to do something. I've had ported, sealed and tapped and purchased plans from Bills site a few years ago, but just never got around to it, but, might be time to pick up some more 12mm BB and cut some pieces.
  19. Arrived last night and all is well. Thanks for the deal and as others have stated, phenomenal job on the packing. Denise said "looks like you wrapped this and sent it to yourself"
  20. I would really like to go see this in a theater with ATMOS but the dolby site leave a lot to be desired regarding their search engine. I punched in my zip code and it just said, nothing near me, not one listing at all, regardless of distance. I'm definitely not going to fight the crowds and will take Denise sometime after Christmas.
