  1. I understand the use of electrical components placed in the signal path to pear off appropriate frequencies to the tweeter and mid-driver, but what is the role of inductors installed before the woofer? Why not let everything not captured by the speakers responsible for the remaining sound spectrum pass to the woofer untouched? Thank you in advance.[]... Trying to further my education a little, so I thought thrusting my hand in the air and asking the teachers would be my best bet. [A]
  2. Montigue 231, will you be driving your Chorus IIs with the HK3490? I would like to know if 150 watts at 4 ohms can drive the K-48 woofer with authority. Thanks!
  3. I bought one last week. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/129631.aspx You will love it.[]
  4. Ha! LOL. The directions included with the Vibrapods say to add either a playing card or felt under the base to keep from ruining the paint finish of what the vibrapod is sitting on. Personally, I hate the look...it cheapens the whole presentation. I'll buy a nice glass rack soon, this was a short term fix to keep from harming my HK. Do you guys think I would be OK removing them?
  5. You have a wonderful system 33RPM![] Thank you for posting pictures!
  6. Last Thursday my new Harmon Kardon HK3490 arrived! I'm using four Model 1 Vibrapods (ordered from Guitar Center) placed on playing cards between my CD player and my new two chanel receiver. On Friday, I received a Belden 1694A coaxial digital audio cable and Belden 5000UE 12-guage speaker cable. These items have made a huge difference in the sound quality of my stereo system! The HK3490 provides my Forte IIs with 120 watts at 8 ohms and 150 watts at 4 ohms. I thought adding the Vibrapods was a good idea, to help out with any potential heat issues. The products from Blue Jeans Cable are of better quality than what I had been using. Now I know how wuzzer felt after switching to his Emotiva UPA-2 amp! I realize the HK is far from being an audiophile grade component, but what it does do, it does very well.
  7. I found a pair of Chorus Walnut Oiled for $450.00.
  8. My Forte IIs are placed with the rear of the speaker cabinet ten inches from the living room wall. This is as much space as I can give the passive radiators. If I were to change gears and go with a pair of front ported Chorus, I could actually gain floor space, by having the ability to move the speakers back a little. Have any of you listened to both speakers? I like the idea of the bigger room filling sound that I've read about concerning the Chorus, and I'm thinking that since I have less than optimum Forte II placement, I may actually gain bass resonse. Your thoughts?
  9. Hey, good afternoon tromprof! No, I didn't do any prep work other than wipe the speaker cabinets down with one of my wife's best towels. LOL I was afraid if I used any kind of cleaner it would screw up the next step. Once the Rust-Oleum was dry (some areas I had to apply a couple of laps), I just wiped them down with cheese cloth which had been gently misted with a little Endust.
  10. Your black Fortes were finished at the factory like this: #40 sheen semi gloss primer 2 coats of #40 sheen "production SSG" one coat of #40 sheen "clear coat" All products from Valspar/OPEX (...the information above is from our own Groomlakearea 51)[Y] I used Rust-Oleum Satin Black #7777 and Linzer artist brushes to make my 1987 black Fortes look nice again when I had them.
  11. Merry Christmas to all of you! A great bunch of people here.[]

  19. We have around two inches of snow here in Maryland. Nice and cozy inside with the wood pellet stove going and coffee brewing.
  20. I listened to Rainbow Rising last night, it sounded great with my Forte IIs. I don't know if that's metal enough though nowdays. LOL.[8-|]
