  1. The driver is clicking or the amp plate? I had an rt-10d from the same Era that started clicking and it was the driver. Replacement was the only option.
  2. So I moved my equipment to a new rack a few weeks ago and I misconnected a couple drivers - the left bass bin was wired right side and I think the right tweeter was on the left. Music played, but I could tell it was off. So my hearing isn't shot and I can discern anomalies. In spite of my poor room design and acoustics, and after dialing in the active xo, these sound really good. I've also heard the setup in an entirely different room and configuration and they sounded great there. So whatever combing effects exist, they certainly aren't discernable to the point of distraction. This kind of stuff can certainly turn into a battle royal of "who's opinion do I trust?", but I'm fairly certain that no one who's gone through the effort here has hated the end result. To be fair, the current sampling of people also has varying degrees of tinkering and implementation of non-oem equipment up to and including esoteric levels. Klipsch does a lot of things right, but I've grown to understand that they're not the end-all be-all solution either. My system mixes some of the better parts from klipsch, danley, and ess. If you've got the time, funds, and desire to tinker just go for it and let your ears tell you if it works or not.

  4. Well this thread went sideways.
  5. I did, when I could. But that was never frequent enough and it got real tiresome having to wade through 20 minutes of guilt trip each time. Throw in a young family, farm, full time job, and a two hour time difference and it's just grown easier to find excuses not to. That's on me I guess. But it's not like the dude is blowing up my voice mail box either.
  6. My grandad on my Mom's side is deeply offended by any communication other than hand written letters or phone calls. We don't communicate much. My grandmother on my Dad's side texts with me regularly and loves the quick messages throughout the week, the ability to see pictures of the farm and family, even short videos. And they're of the same generation with pretty much the same number of grandkids each, all from my generation.
  7. Your receiver doesn't support MQA, so once it leaves Tidal you're only playing PCM files. I'd stop worrying about MQA unless you want to put in the research and financial investment to acquire MQA supported equipment for the entire signal chain. Anything less than that level of effort will result in PCM conversion at some point, thereby defeating the entire purpose of MQA.
  8. That would be a nifty feature indeed, in all active subs.
  9. MQA requires specific device support to see it fully realized. Here's Tidal's support page to ensure you have everything setup on the software side: https://support.tidal.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000397069-TIDAL-MASTERS But you do need to have a device with a DAC that supports it: https://www.mqa.co.uk/playback-devices
  10. Klipsch should include a leg "conversion" kit with their active subs so that you can turn it into a side table when the amp dies.
  11. They are. My mother in law is also a photog and she's much more about studio environment and posing and so on - the girls aren't nearly as compliant. We've got a sliding door facing due west that gives me good light - I just sit down at their level and let them do their thing so it's more relaxed and they get to feel like it's a representation of themselves. They're always bursting with excitement to see the shots while I edit, etc.
  12. Thanks, and they have indeed! 6 and 8.5 now.
  13. Haven't been shooting much lately, but did take a few snaps yesterday while getting accustomed to my new Voigtlander 50mm f/1.2 lens. I just couldn't get on board with working distance of the 90mm f/2 I had, especially on a crop sensor. The 50mm is certainly more in my wheelhouse.
  14. I might have to give this a shot. It doesn't bother me much until bedtime, during which I usually have a TV show running so I can fall asleep.
  15. Sort of. Will be nice to finally unzip my pants and not be dragging on the floor.
  16. LaSquata - officially named by user tswei on October 4, 2020. (for posterity's sake, during the inevitable argument over who called this that first and subsequent forum searches for answers).
  17. Of what nature is that maintenance? I use the scissor lift 1-3 hours a quarter.
