  1. Q- First thing I would do is contact either the Florida State Bar Association or one in your locality. Ask them to give you a list of lawyers that specialize in Patent Law. That's right, get a lawyer. These places that advertise that if you sent them, say, $50 they will see if your idea has been done before. It almost always has. Then they got your money AND your idea to give to someone else. Or you can contact this site and do a search in your area. It's Martindale-Hubble . After you get the patent then theres getting a company to make it for you or, even tougher, setting up your own business of manufacture (read- put everything you own on the line). Good luck! ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 08-10-2002 at 09:59 PM
  2. Gee- I was going to tell him my mother just bought me one of those Audi A4t's right after she got laid off. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  3. Mike-(and others) If I think I'm gonna put up a rather lengthy post I usually just type it up in a word document then just copy and paste to forum. The word processor has a much more extended dictionary than the forum's AND it can check grammer too. On the subject of re-logging in every time, isn't a cookie suppost to be placed on your computer for this? Mine USED to work that way until I either cleared all cache memory and/or reformatted my hard drive. It really doesn't work now since I put on a new firewall for the DSL. The firewall doesn't even ask it just blocks it out. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  4. I found a pretty good deal on www.audioadvisor.com and got a pair of Terminator 2 Bi-Wires in 12ft. for my KLF20's. My system is McIntosh and Rotel SS seperates (see the link below). The bass now has very low extension now that I also found the right placement from the rear and side wall for the speakers. Talk about stiff cables! I almost needed a pair of lineman's pliers to make the connection the speaker posts! The mids are very neutral and the highs are a little more articulate and revealing but not over done. The only thing I look out for is that some day I'll be looking for a new amp (probably McIntosh) and it may be a problem to find a model with a very wide barrier strip width so these rather wide (I ordered the small ones) spade connectors will fit. I would like to get an MC202 if it's affordable and in great condition. Richard Dreyfuss to Wolfman Jack in American Graffiti: "I'm looking for this girl...." Wolfman's reply "Aren't we all...." Anyway, I'm very happy with my purchase. MIT just says it takes about 100 hours or so for them to break in....they said it, I didn't. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  5. That's it!! I'm ripping the wiring out of my Legends!!! (you know I'm kidding...) A round of jealousy for all..... ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 08-08-2002 at 08:47 AM
  6. Do any of you guys know of a web site where I can look up an old (25 years or more) piece of Scott NON-tube equipment? I have a rather old (mid-70's?) 830z Analyzer that I picked up from a store that was dismanteling a very-small radio station. It's not the 830 Generator but who knows it may be in the same family. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  7. Isn't it wierd that this thread has more replies than hits? ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  8. I have the same concern about the black bars. Also, Mitsubishi does NOT include the uneven ware in the screen from these bars in their warranty. This alone prompted me not to buy a 16:9 (and I really do want a Mitsu) until all of the broadcast signal is 16:9. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit

  10. I used to work for a retail store for thirteen years and I came to the conclusion that there are some people that have an idea stuck in their head and there is just no way to get them to forget it and "reboot". Then there are those who just want to keep whining at you and discount every suggestion you offer. Those are the ones who don't WANT to be helped. The store eventually went out of business because the clientele would screem for us to get the best and newest products but never, ever wanted to pay the market value for it (i.e.- "Hey dude, whens that new shotgun goin' on sale?"). Newly introduced item are usually very hard to buy and make a proffit from unless you buy in massive bulk which takes (you guessed it) capitol. Not to be made from a bunch of cheap-skates anyway. Finally, there were the ones who wanted me to glorify them for the products they own. Sorry, not this kid. I expect everyone around me to grow, emotionally and intellectualy. When I would wait on the same dumb box-of-rocks that hasn't put to memory or good use anything I have told them then I usually just go somplace else and not be found. Sorry, if this has run astray from your original brief but sex is more fun than logic..... ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 08-05-2002 at 07:45 PM
  11. Justin- Here's a good back issue to order!! Justin's first magazine?! ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 08-03-2002 at 11:34 PM

  13. Justin- I know what you mean about the looks of the new Rovers. My sister has a three year old Discovery in Jersey. She brought it down to my parents last year and it looked like you could push it over on it's side just standing next to it. My hopes of the 300M may be deminishing. By the time I can afford one (paying for the whole thing in cash) it looks like it'll be a 300N or some other letter. Looked at the H but most convertibles don't do it for me. HEY! If your hoping for a NEW Rover why not look at a Hummer?? Those are only $100,000+ or so. Talk about go anywhere! Getting diesel is a bit of a problem where I live so I would have to look at an early one that had the 454 Chev engine. Oh, well. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 07-31-2002 at 02:00 PM
  14. I just pulled out an album from the mid 80's to take a spin on a ride called the Yamaha PF-800. It has only been played a half dozen times before and I haven't been in a happy enough mood to play it in the last ten years. It's Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Welcome to the Pleasuredome". Just played side one of the set and I am very surprised at the amount of bass coming from what was thought of by some as antiquated medium (Yes, I know better). If you like dance type party music this is a keeper! (of course then it already is) I would like to thank the Acadamy (no, I don't have one) and the people at Shure for making the V15xMR. And finally, the people at Yamaha for making such an affordable TT ($449 in 1985) that still looks great and sounds sounds very repectable. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 08-01-2002 at 03:18 PM
  15. I'm using a Rotel RB-1080 amp (200wpc) and this thing sounds really good at higher volumes. At lower levels it kinda lays down from the full richness of the program. I'm getting bass galore, especially at lower frequencies. Paid about $900 for it a year ago. If I could find a used Mac MC202 or MC7200 for under $2,000 I'd consider selling it though. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 07-31-2002 at 08:34 AM
  16. Justin- I thought you had a Range Rover! ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  17. I'll have to say that the only experience with DVD-A was a dismal failure. I bought Fleetwood Mac's Rumors disk and there was definitley something missing. My machine (McIntosh MVP-841) was set to PCM (since I'm running only a two channel system) but the disk would cue up in 5.1 ONLY. The screen on the disk lists a PCM option but would not allow me to select it. So, yea, there was some of the signal missing. Bummer all to hell. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  18. Currently using a Rotel RB-1080 for a pair of KLF-20's bi-wired with MIT Terminator 2's. The sound is great once you crank the volume a bit but at lower levels the rich fullness of sound just isn't there. Looking forward to a McIntosh MC202 or MC7200 after the purchase of a new car. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  19. This is something you may want to try yourself. After all, DIY is half the fun in this crazy hobby. Open the TT up and touch up every solder joint you can find. One of them may go to some sort of voltage regulator or quartz lock control. Have fun! ------------------ Tom's Money Pit

  22. I'm using a pair of 20's and I can tell the difference in only five inches of moving my head left or right. Shame too, cause where my head is, is NOT in that sweet center spot. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 07-17-2002 at 09:24 PM
  23. I had a Carver Receiver with that kind of problem and it was traced to the speaker-on relays which just wore out. Or it could be some connection that is just barley hangin' on causing a high impeadence load till X number of voltz is push through it. i.e.- a stand of speker cable with only a couple of strands actually making contact. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 07-16-2002 at 03:58 PM
  24. I haven't bought anything from ubid but I hear their shipping costs are outrageous. About a buck a pound from what I've read and those things go a little over a hundred pounds each! ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  25. Here's a little food for thought... Yes, some may find this link objectionable. Brooke ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 07-11-2002 at 09:56 PM
