  1. Used without question. [] Much more bang for buck. And speakers don't "go bad."
  2. Optical cables are not capable of sending DTS MA/DOLBY TRUE HD.
  3. The short answer is no way. I would save up and invest in something more serious.
  4. Make sure you have all of the audio formats enabled (checked) in the PS3 audio output screen.
  5. The ad says "$600 or best offer." That means negotiate!
  6. There is a chart at the bottom of this page: http://critesspeakers.com/
  7. The Academy really isn't a crap speaker like is sometimes suggested here.
  8. I don't allow my receiver to automatically configure anything. It's a slipperly slope. First freq levels, next Skynet.
  9. A college roommate of mine left his key in his door once. Someone drove the car to a drug store around the block and left it completely how he found it, key in door with nothing missing. Damn punks.
  10. That's the exact setup I have. Just bump the Academy a few dbs and you should be very happy.
  11. That set represents the cheapest 1080p option of first generation tech. Call me silly, but I'd hold out if deadset upon 3D.
  12. Plasma technology has matured greatly over the years such that image retention is not the problem it once was.
  13. I think 3D is great. Your budget, however, ain't wide enough. Look into the Panasonic TC-P50G20.
  14. I disagree with your implication. This isn't suggesting they make receivers, displays or toasters. The "one thing" they do well is make speakers, which they make for a variety of applications: home theater, commercial theater, outdoors, headphones, ipods, etc. Why not apply their masterful talents to vehicles?
  15. I use an Academy between a pair of CW Is. Recommend it.
  16. I recently applied a cherry stain to my raw Academy and absolutely love the results.
  17. See my signature for a solution that meets your budget requirements. The Academy is the weakest link, but it rarely calls attention to itself. I'd likely swap it for a third CW if space allowed.
  18. Truly puzzled by this "CWs can't do rock" argument. My pair must be rare experimental models that were designed to play clear, crisp loud rock.
