  1. I sure like mine. It appears that there is some discoloration on the brass top plate between the rectifier and the 6sn7. It looks like there are some blemishes in other areas too. lI know that the brass came with a clear coat and it appears that some one may have tried to polish or clean it with poor results. Having said that, I think it's a great price, especially if they were assembled by Welbourne. They are very nice amps with Klipschorns.
  2. I sent a text message at the number you listed. Let me know if they are still for sale. Thanks
  3. Here is our Calfee dragonfly tandem at Race Across America in 2011. I also included my spin bike in an effort to keep it Klipsch related.
  4. Ha, I'm slow to respond to bad news.

  6. My Klipschorns get a coat of Watco once a year. Just wipe on a thin coat, let it sit for 10 minutes then give a light buff with a soft cotton cloth.
  7. I have a set of the solid plates in my Korneff 45, and they are quite nice. $400. 00 better than a set of RCA?, probably not. Having said that, I have the EML tubes in the amp, not the RCA tubes and don't regret the purchase either.
  8. I also use the Niles DPS 1, it works great. Just make darn sure you know which amp is selected prior to powering it on.

Welcome to the forum John, glad you're here.
  10. Alex, I'm so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed reading your Dad's posts. He truly was one of the good guys in this community.
  11. can you describe the difference you hear between the two cartridges? The Zephyr is more detailed and neutral, while the Dyna is slightly more rolled off on the highs with a fuller low end. My preference is the Zephyr. Ok thanks brother!!! No problem, hope I helped. I have some serious envy of your Korneff 45, I've been on the hunt for one for a while now. I have had chance to email back and forth with Jeff and he is a very nice guy.
  12. can you describe the difference you hear between the two cartridges? The Zephyr is more detailed and neutral, while the Dyna is slightly more rolled off on the highs with a fuller low end. My preference is the Zephyr. Do you use the Zephyr into a LO or HO stage? Looks to be a might low for my HO stage but Mark is going to add some Cream soon. I have only recently became aware of "moving iron". It's feeding the MM stage (43db gain) consistent with Soundsmith's recommendation. I don't recall what the gain is on the cream option. I'm glad that Mark is actively involved with (working on) his products again.

  14. VPI classic II and swap between Soundsmith Zephyr and Dynavector 20X2H.
  15. I ran an ortofon 2m bronze at 5mv and a dynavector 20x2H at 2.5mv with a blueberry extreme. Both output levels functioned well with the JM mm phono stage. The ortofon was definitely very high output. I think you'd be fine with any cartridge in that range. I don't know the answer re the Sumiko, but my guess is that it is not the sum total of the two channels.
  16. Dean, Here are the lengths on my 78 Klipschorns: K-77 to crossover. 18" K-55 to crossover. 22" Crossover to door. 47" Door to K-33. 18.5" ( not a lot of slack with door removed)
  17. I can think of plenty, none of which are suitable for a public forum. The sad part is she is not the only motorist that feels this way.
  18. You might drop Dennis Had a note and ask him directly. He can be found on ebay under this seller name http://www.ebay.com/usr/radioman731
