  1. Apparently I need to get a life.. I've seen everyone of those movies mentioned, except for "Eraserhead", many times. Add another vote for Buckaroo Banzai "Nothing is ever what it seems but everything is exactly what it is." JJ

  7. Thanks for the Tube Depot link, Dee!!! This is the site I've been trying to "re-find" for the past year or two. JJ
  8. There are very few movies that actually can fool me to the point that it makes me look up or around or whatever the effect the scene in the movie is trying to portray. It's these subtle things that get my attention..Most movie makers have perfected the art of recreating rain, thunder, and explosions and it all seems the same to me. It's cool, but not very realistic, IMO. Master and Commander's reproduction of people walking around the deck is an excellent example The movie Signs also has a scene with the same effect. It's the part where the aliens are trying to find a way into the farm house. This one gives me the chills every time. The depth charge scenes in U571 is a must for any HT demo. It's the sound of the detonators going off just before the explosion that makes the scenes complete. Somebody already made mention to Roger's setup in an earlier post. The way he has finely tuned his delays, you can't help but look back when planes fly over or duck when bullets go whizzing by your head. JJ
  9. After reading the review , they couldn't stop mentioning the location of the binding posts..They certainly didn't like it and I have always wondered as well what the reasoning was to put the binding posts on the bottom of the speaker. Esp. on a heavy speaker like the P-39. As Dwilawyer pointed out, I went directly to the Manufacturer's Response section after reading the review and was stunned not to see a response from Klipsch. I'm glad I waited to post the oversight, for Amy has already informed us that they did indeed sent in a response. Other than that, I surely need to take a Chart Reading 101 class so I can somewhat understand what they are talking about for we all know the proof is in the numbers, right??!!?? [] Thanks JJ
  10. Great write-up(s), guys!!! Though not the same as being there in person, I did find some of Tchaikovsky's 5th and 6th in my old vinyl archives and played them on Saturday night. I sure would like to hear some Classical music on a finely tuned TT system. Mine set-up is amateurish (by design..new to the game) and though I have had the pleasure to demo a few nice set-ups..The music of choice has been ...Random Horn Blowin Music. Which isn't my cup of tea. Larry: Michael mentioned that you have a record cleaning machine...What model do you have? Thanks again guys for sharing your adventures!! JJ P.S. Larry: I got your email and I'll reply to you later this evening
  11. Have a great time guys!!!! I would have been at Marty's by now if things didn't change at the last moment. [] Even though it won't be the same, I will throw on some Tchaikovsky tomorrow night and pretend I there hearing it live. Take care, be safe, and enjoy the Music!!!! JJ
  12. Hi: Anyone here have any experience(s) with wireless outdoor speakers. A person at my work asked me about them and since I have no clue, I figured someone here would have some advice and or recommendations. I tried to steer them in this direction but to no avail. (Not Wireless)[] http://www.klipsch.com/products/lists/view-outdoor-speakers.aspx The maximum distance should be around 100-150 feet. Thank you in advance for your replies. JJ
  13. Thanks for the heads up, Fini. Just placed my order. I'v been looking for some new vinyl and the price aint bad either. JJ
  14. Hi All: Due to some scheduling conflicts, I will be unable to attend this years Klipschfest. I'm really bummed as I hate to miss an opportunity to gather with the forum friends I have met over the years. I will also miss the chance to meet Marty (Thebes) and Gary (GaryMD) who have been on the forums about as long as I have. Thank you Larry for being the Entertainment Director for we all no is not an easy task. Also, thank you to all the people who are opening up their homes for this event. JJ
  15. Hi Gary: It took about 4 years for the Belles to grow on me but a lot that had to do with not spending much time with them. The K-Horns got the lion share of my attention as well as the Cornwalls. It wasn't until this past December that I made it a point to give the Belles a fair shake. Now that I have spent more time with them, I've warmed up to them but they still won't supplant (not even close) the K-Horns and Cornwalls as my primary two channel listening rig. I haven't tried adding a sub into the mix, so maybe I'll explore that option in the near future. The 2-Channel Belle ('87 Oak with Bob's A/AA's, 10 feet a part, listening positions is about 6.5 feet) set-up is as follows: -ST-70 point to point wired (Thanks to Craig's handiwork. Craig will be able to explain better what he did but it was a joint experiment to see if it was a worthwhile/economical mod for ST-70.) -JM-BB with all the ala cart add-ons -MusicHall 2.1 TT Cheap DVD player for CD duty.
  16. Sorry Gary..No GD..But how about.. NY-Old Man [] JJ
  17. Happy Birthday, Gary!!! [G][D][^] I haven't spun any vinyl in the past 6 months, so like Mike C, I just may have to spin a couple tonight Any requests?? JJ

    I'm hooked

Same thing happened to me as well, Artto. I'm a die hard PC gamer and only bought the PS3 for blu-ray and net capabilities..That was until I bought Call of Duty 3 (Yes, I'm behind the times) and Extreme bowling. I'm hooked...but only to games that mainly require the use of the right side of the controller. My brain and left hand just can't seem to work the other side of the controller. Have fun!!!! JJ
  19. Hi: I'm new to the console gaming world (PC die hard gamer) and was wondering what people are using for Headsets w/ the PS3? Price point: Under $25 I do know that you can buy the "Sony Approved" headset for $49.00 or buy the SOCOM game for 59.99, which comes with the Sony headset. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks JJ
  20. Scott: There are tons of posts on this subject just do a search. (Start by doing a search on posts by Allan Songer on this subject. He takes cleaning his vinyl serious and if done correctly, a deep claning only has to be done once.) Here are a couple links that should give you a good start on your research.. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/12039.aspx?PageIndex=1 http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/31839/272724.aspx#272724 JJ
  21. You shouldn't have to worry Dtel, they don't make a model with a smaller clamp size. [:$] JJ
  22. Greg: Did you use Koa edge banding or did you use left over veneer? I've tried to find Koa edge banding but didn't see on the website. Thanks JJ
  23. Thanks for the replies!! InVeNtOR: Are you saying that you are using the Crossover on the SUB rather than letting your Receiver handle the crossover duties? In my case, it doesn't matter where the crossover is managed, but I have let my AV receiver handle the duties in the past. What has me confused is how the A3 can have a smaller driver, a larger amp, and a higher price tag than the A2-300. I'm missing something here and that's why the original post. I will more than likely call them but I'd rather give you guys a shot at the question before I have a Salesperson try to explain it to me. [] Thanks JJ
  24. Hi: ED subwoofers have received some good reviews, both here and other sites. http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=2_41 When I started to research their subs, they were in the middle of re-vamping their "A3" line of subs and thus the specs, pricing, etc were not available on their website. The "A2" series looked like a great price point for what I need BUT now I see that they have updated their site with the new "A3" information. After comparing the two, I'm totally confused on which one to get. The A3 is more money (whopping $25 more) but has a smaller driver, smaller foot print, and a larger amp than the A2. I need someone in the "Know" to look at the specs of both and give me some feedback. (I'm set on either the A2-300 or the A3-250 and though other subwoofer suggestions are helpful, please refrain from suggesting other subwoofers that can be had for a few dollars more). Thanks in advance for your help!!! JJ P.S. The sub will be for my bedroom HT which is about 10X12. So, I don't need a Epik conquest or a RSW-15
